- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This study might be a failure of the chicken/egg concept (were they overweight because they drank the diet drink, or were they drinking diet drinks because they thought (and were) overweight), or it might be the simple consequence of the feedback loop in our brains that tells us when we drink something sweet, we should raise our blood insulin levels to deal with the sugar we should be obtaining (and thusly become hypoglycemic and crave something sweet).
Either way, it's going to take way more than one study to confirm, even if the study was large (although limited by genetic heritage, in the case of this study being limited to Mexican-Americans and non-Hispanic White Americans).
