- Locrian, on 07/06/2009, -0/+69My dad drinks coffee daily and he still calls me by his brother's name.
- Brian47126, on 07/06/2009, -2/+68I suspect these scientists may be funded by starbucks.
- ryan631, on 07/06/2009, -4/+33No. I've worked at a nursing home. Trust me, old people with alzheimers are getting many coffees every single day and still having memory problems.
whoopty ***** some 2 year old lab mouse seemed smarter. - BassMastr, on 07/06/2009, -0/+24I'm not a doctor or anything but does 5 cups of coffee a day sound like it might cause other problems?
- ChinaLumberjack, on 07/06/2009, -2/+18Wha- Wha- WHAT?
- FlynnRocks, on 07/06/2009, -2/+16Do you two have the same name?
- LeroyJenkems, on 07/06/2009, -1/+13Who might reverse what?
- DjOverEZ, on 07/06/2009, -0/+11Are you sure they aren't Irish Coffees?
- Indyanna, on 07/06/2009, -3/+14To be fair to the smokers who have to pay higher taxes on their cigarettes due to the health consequences, it's only right that the non-coffee drinkers need to pay extra for not consuming the beverage that will keep them from developing Alzheimer's.
To quote Troy64 from another thread: "It's time to start taxing the health foods that are killing us."
:-) - stuffradio, on 07/06/2009, -1/+11I would digg this article, unfortunately I submitted this article 1 hour before this guy did. So I'm going to have to bury this as dupe.
- Alchemist11, on 07/06/2009, -2/+12I like the creativity.
- ChinaLumberjack, on 07/06/2009, -0/+95 cups a day?

BUTATLEASTIDONTHAVETOWORRYABOUTMEMORYLOSS - Pinkertinkle, on 07/06/2009, -3/+11might reverse Alzheimer's but will probably kill you via heart disease
- mantis108, on 07/06/2009, -1/+9Yeah, and drinking 5 cups of coffee a day will also give you ***** heart palpitations you won't believe, dehydrate the living ***** out of you, and leave you with a hardcore caffeine addiction that will be rewarded with regular headaches should you forget to shoot up your daily dosage. But hey, at least you won't be demented while they're treating you for your nervous disorder and cardiac arrhythmia.
- gigi52, on 07/06/2009, -1/+9Does it have to be caffeine in just coffee?
- LomasLou, on 07/06/2009, -2/+9i keep on forgetting to drink coffee
- akula89, on 07/06/2009, -0/+6..caffeine pills?
- bobartig, on 07/06/2009, -1/+7Even if it did work, jesus christ, 5 cups a day? That's a lot of time spent hyper-peeing on the john.
- stuffradio, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Yes, because in order to submit an article... if you re-submit something someone else has already submitted... it lists existing articles (like mine) and says are you sure this is original.
- GnomeProfit, on 07/06/2009, -1/+6God I hate these types of studies. They come out and say XXXX will help you prevent YYYY but forget about ZZZZ.
Example: 100mg of Chocolate daily will help you lower your blood pressure except they forgot about all of the other effects (cavities, obesity, chances of lead poisoning, stomach aches, etc.) Drinking 5 cups of coffee a day? C'mon. Will they tell be to drink 5 Red Bulls tomorrow? - Owch, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5And there are 55 mice right now demanding to have cigarettes tested on them next.
- LavaWarrior, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5I can't believe i was able to read that...
- whatthefu, on 07/06/2009, -1/+6[Substance name] may [cause/reverse/reduce the likelihood of] [major disease].
- stuffradio, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Why am I getting buried? Here is the link:
http://digg.com/health/BBC_NEWS_Health_Coffee_may_ ...
I clearly submitted the story earlier even an hour earlier then this guy. So it must be him burying me so it doesn't seem like he ignored my link and submitted his own. - DarkKnight5590, on 07/06/2009, -1/+6Why not just use Stem Cells instead? Didn't we just have a breakthrough with that?
I'd prefer it than drinking coffee honestly. - Indyanna, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5But at least you'll remember to take your Plavix.
- LiquidIse, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5this study is a little on the bogus side from an intuitive standpoint...
how many Alzheimer's victims drink and have drank large quantities of coffee for years? my guess: a lot. - zagatbuzz, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4 Oh, goody I was just about to head for my first cup of the day. Now I have something to retort to those telling me I'm slowly killing myself with coffee.
- wassim2k, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Three weeks from today: Coffee linked to early onset of Alzheimer's
- fragMasterFlash, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Nothing quite like being clear headed and fully cognizant when dealing with stroke induced paralysis.
- InfiniteNothing, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Hmm, subsidized coffee. Interesting concept.
- Woofermazing, on 07/06/2009, -1/+55 Cups will reverse Alzheimers, but 100 will allow you to slow down time and save your friends from a burning building...and Dr. Zoidberg.
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Title is wrong, it's caffeine that may reverse Alzheimer's, and not coffee per se.
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4I don't think I drink 5 cups of anything in a day.
- mparker21311, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3I picked a hell of a month to stop drinking caffeine.
- nealdd, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3They used caffeine in drinking water - with mice
This might not relate to humans. - twiztidsinz, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3How many had switched to Decaf?
- KoldKalamity, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Red Bull is acidic jizz.
- TheMachine1, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4One you did not systematically quantify the memory problems and second you did not even mention people with Alzheimer that were not drinking coffee.
- ByteMePlenty, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3are you sure you are taking your coffees?
- Chunken, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3There have been a lot of breakthroughs the last few years with Alzheimer's. The disease should be solved in the next 5-10 years. You don't need to start drinking massive amounts of coffee, really.
- burrgrinder, on 07/06/2009, -0/+35 cups isn't all that much. I brew a half pot (6 cups) every day. It fills my travel mug and a small thermos. If it weren't for my morning meetings and interruptions that remove me from my desk, I could probably go through a whole pot.
A Starbucks grande is probably like 3 cups. - Sil369, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4billy mayes on speed?
- castelfranco, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Research sponsored by Starbucks... Absolute nonsense!
- burrgrinder, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3You have incisors for a reason.
- garretwd, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3"The researchers say this is the same as is found in two cups of "specialty" coffees such as lattes or cappuccinos from coffee shops, 14 cups of tea, or 20 soft drinks."
That doesn't add up. - bb112266, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2This is why I am not all that crazy about this type of medical reports. First they are not 100% sound, due to a lot of factors, and usually, but not always, they should be taken like a grain of salt. If your personal doctor has not told you this, then it is not worth the effort in even reading this article. I also believe that to hve this amount of caffeine to work, it has to be a lot. Most drink soft drinks that has more caffeine than coffee. What are the medical professionals saying about that?
- fuknlightn, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2I am pretty sure I drink a lot of coffee, but I can't seem to remember how many cups...
- Charlotte_Web, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2It's the caffeine, not the coffee. You can probably just take it in pill form to get the same benefit.
