- Hugh7, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1"the benefits of the operation in reducing the risk of infection among heterosexual couples." No, only from woman to man (IF the studies are accurate). Women will be at even greater risk than before, because they will be less able to refuse men who want unprotected sex because "I'm circumcised so I'm safe."
- Hugh7, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Most of these studies and projections have been written by the same small handful of people, who have a pro-circumcision rather than anti-AIDS agenda. Halperin is on record as saying that because his grandfather was a ritual circumcisor, he may be "destined" to spread circumcision. Scientist? The risk does not "fall by 60 percent". IF the studies are accurate, a rate of 2.5% falls to a rate of 1.2% a fall of 1.3%. But there are many reasons the studies are probably not accurate. These are summarised in this paper: http://www.futuremedicine.com/doi/full/10.2217/174 ...
