- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Every time they say something about how healthy chocolate is, I'll bet millions of ignorant people rush out and buy a disgusting milk chocolate bar. I don't know how people can enjoy the taste of that stuff. Upbringing, I guess. A real chocolate bar, you eat two pieces and you're uncontrollably DONE.
- mickisdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@cardwell
It says a "small amount". If you eat a small amount (an ounce or two) of dark chocolate (not a regular Hershey's bar) everyday, you will not become obese. Dark chocolate has less sugar and less fat.
Dark Chocolate is less creamy, but has more flavor. - cyn0sure, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10On my way to buy some Hershey's now. Good health here I come!!!!
- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Wow chocolate and wine and I'll live forever!
- Koosebane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm clot resistant as hell right now.
Chocobuzzelicious and feeling fine. - aelias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you have any history of kidney stones, you may want to opt for the blod clots.
- drlog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Its all about balance! They say have a tiny amount of dark chocolate a day. They say to have only a glass or 2 of red wine a day....not get totally ***** faced off wine and eat so much chocolate you puke!
- luaplevap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Seriously, with sensationalist headlines like this before you know it coffee will cure cancer. This food which is terrible for your health will *sensational healthy twist* your *body part*.
- Glidedon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah 100% of people who eat carrots die !
- lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love nutritional studies.
Fish is good for you. Fish is bad. Fish has mercury in it. Fish makes you fat. Fish makes you skinny. Fish are God.
Etc. - tnoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3As someone who lives across the street from the Reese's factory in Hershey, I can only hope that the smell in the air helps cut the risk as well.
- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because you'll die from cancer first!
Sorry, had to tie together two constantly argued health issues. - kingofthegreens, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Just what we need...another reason to get fat
- allaboutdatiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A couple of months ago, I tried a chocolate that billed itself as being heart-friendly. Didn't taste horrible ... but it wasn't great. I can't remember the brand. Guess it didn't make all that much of an impression.
I'd volunteer for a chocolate-frenzy blood pressure lowering experiment, if I could only find the USB cable to my blood pressure monitor. - merugo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ugh.
I hate all this chocolate obsession right now. Every day it's "chocolate lowers cholesterol" and blah blah blah.
Why can't for once it be "Chocolate has been found to be a leading cause of AIDS."
You know, mix it up a bit. - Phantastica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, Hershey's is great....until you get salmonella poisoning from it:

Oh and this is actually TRUE. Though it has to be in moderation, So don't go stuffing your face. - Ubermensch423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cacao beans (when the british came to america they had trouble pronouncing 'cacao' so they changed the name of the bean to 'cocoa'), which comprise about 70-80% of dark chocolate bars, have been known for centuries to be extremely good for one's health. native americans would refer to cacao beans as the food of the gods because of all of their health benefits. they also contain more antioxidents than such antioxident rich foods as blueberries. this is not some sensationalist headline or health fad, this has been known for centuries and supported by science and nutrition experts. the problem is that americans usually associate chocolate with what it has been mixed with over the past century, it should be seperated from the sugar filled, fat filled, milk chocolate candy bars that we normally associate chocolate with. sure, if u take strawberries or blueberries and soak them in sugar and cover them in caramel, they will be unhealthy for you, but dark chocolate eliminates most of the crap that most chocolate is paired with and the cacao bean is able to work its health benefits.
- btnheazy03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thin your blood or Bulk up your thighs, your choice
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People who are on blood thinners are warned to stay away from aspirin (to help avoid internal bleeding). I wonder just how similar the thinning effects from chocolate are to aspirin and other blood thinners.
And technically, these things don't actually "thin" the blood (make it runnier), they just keep it from coagulating as fast. - PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He is Wimp Lo, we have purposely trained him wrong as a joke.
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Warning! Do go for the 75%, I just got some 99% cocoa and it just about made me throw up, I was washing my mouth for a long time, so bitter, no sweetness at ALL.
- luaplevap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Say it like it is, brother.
- CarolFil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Dr. Andrew Weil has been saying this for years.
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA347715 - dbug, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3But I like white chocolate so much better than dark one :(
- CarolFil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think you may want to rethink that.
http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2006/11/12/recall.html?ref=rss - howl123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chocolate lovers rejoice.
http://chocolate-madness.blogspot.com/ - Deadboy42069, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chocolate is good for your teeth.. It's can thwart mouth bacteria and stop dental decay. Tooth decay starts when Streptococcus mutans bacteria produce a sticky substance called glucan which helps the bacteria anchor themselves to teeth, forming plaque. Bacteria in plaque convert sugars to acids, which eat away the tooth’s surface and lead to cavities. Scientists have found that cocoa bean husk (CBH) – the outer part of the bean – is a potent source of antibacterial agents. Unfortunately, CBH is the part of the cocoa bean that tends to go to waste during chocolate production – but plans are afoot to use CBH extracts in mouthwash and toothpaste’s.
Brocclibob.. I'm American and we already know about it for about 45 yrs. Thats why you see many American are FAT. - dbug, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You're not a nerd, you're just an idiot :P
- MeatBiProduct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0but what cuts down on bumbaclots?
/grin - ravravrav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its like what they always say about wine, beer, red meat etc etc. Everythings got some sort health benefit as long as you don't gorge on it and get so fat you can't stand. I think really you should fruits and vegetables like here http://bitesoftware.proboards50.com/index.cgi?board=health&action=display&thread=1163509363 as they are so numerous and you won't get the papers telling you the opposite in next months edition..
- cardwell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2doesn't do much for obesity though...believe me...I know
- effward, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Wow... I am such a nerd. When I read the title I thought Chocolate was referring to the LG cell phone, and I was curious as to how a cell phone could 'cut your blood clot risk'.
