- alpox, on 11/07/2009, -5/+52Tancredo is only mad because it is true:

College Republican? Check.
Member of the Young Americans for Freedom? Check.
Speaking out in favor of Vietnam? Check.
"1-Y" deferment? Check. - sarahlee, on 11/07/2009, -4/+35When you call them on their BS they just run - so used to the media letting them spew lies without ever being challenged.
- Insightful, on 11/07/2009, -3/+33I like how this chickenhawk claims that he know what veterans want when he is one of 39 that voted against Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program Extension ( 11/14/2006 , Roll Call No. 520).
http://www.c4cd6.org/?q=node/33
I will bet Tancredo will also claim he know that is best for immigrants, minorities, women, non-Christians, disabled, LGBT, etc as well. - Insightful, on 11/07/2009, -4/+33That was some seriously owning there. Good job Markos.
- jwbrown77, on 11/07/2009, -5/+34Nothing more hilarious than watching a chicken hawk get butthurt for being called out for being a chicken hawk.
- jeffbw, on 11/07/2009, -6/+32Chicken hawk, chicken hawk, chicken hawk.
- Insightful, on 11/07/2009, -7/+30No, I also do not plan to show any respect nor dignity to racists, creationists, flat earthers, birthers, etc. Why should I respect them when they show no respect to science, logic, rationality, progress, etc?
- BasalCellBossk, on 11/07/2009, -5/+24That's not really an ad hominem, because it highlights his hypocrisy in the discussion. It is not a rhetorical fallacy in context.
Tancredo attempted to steamroll Markos via use of a cry to emotion: 'ask the veterans', Markos pointed out that he, Markos, is a veteran, and knows more about the subject at hand than Tancredo, for the reasons stated.
It's not exactly a polite debate tactic, but Tancredo is not a polite debater, so all is fair, etc. - teebird, on 11/07/2009, -5/+24You're kidding, right?
Tancredo is infamous for interrupting and attempting to shout down interviewers and other interviewees. I've never seen him in a situation where he was challenged when he didn't try to drown out anyone who disagreed with him. Markos did what he had to do to keep Tancredo from steamrollering him, which is Tancredo's typical debating style.
When he was shown up for the loudmouthed, hypocritical stuffed shirt that he is, Tancredo couldn't take it and bailed on the interview. That wasn't just rude and cowardly, it was unprofessional. - zaknick, on 11/07/2009, -4/+22right on Markos!
- kcmedic, on 11/07/2009, -1/+19From Wikipedia:
"As a Republican student activist Tancredo spoke in support of the Vietnam War. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado he became eligible to serve in Vietnam in June 1969. Tancredo has said he went for his physical, telling doctors he had been treated for depression, and eventually got a "1-Y" deferment."
He dissed him for speaking to a veteran about veterans, even though he wasn't a veteran. - GorfTron, on 11/07/2009, -4/+18Bill-O will have a special pinhead segment to sooth Tancredo's booboo.
- sarahlee, on 11/07/2009, -3/+14He got plucked.
- smashTasker, on 11/07/2009, -1/+11Dumbass cowardly republicans
- basickly, on 11/07/2009, -1/+10Oh... Damn that was pretty harsh, haha.
- teebird, on 11/07/2009, -0/+9@thecoolestguy...So...it's OK when Tancredo tries to shout down everyone else in an interview or debate...his normal approach to dealing with anyone who disagrees with him... but suddenly it's wrong when some one pulls him up short, calls ***** on him and makes it clear he has no idea what he's talking about. And Tancredo, big baby that he is, can only start pouting and storm out of the room.
You're as much of a hypocrite as Tancredo himself. - bsmang, on 11/07/2009, -0/+9No, it was actually quite ok because Tancredo was trying to speak for veterans...
- basickly, on 11/07/2009, -0/+9What was the insult that caused the guy to storm off?
I didn't understand the Vietnam comment... - BigVi, on 11/07/2009, -1/+9This pretty much defines most of the upper echelons of the Republican party leadership. They talk the talk but run away the moment they actually have to walk.
Rush, Cheney, Bush II - IHaveIssues, on 11/07/2009, -2/+9but his depression!!! How can he function?
- gilbes, on 11/07/2009, -5/+12Chickenhawk CUT AND RAN!
What a ***** pussy.
At least she can serve the interest in congress. Not the public interest, but the interest of of a broken helath care system.
Guess which of the preceeding was actually a typo. - mkriss5681, on 11/07/2009, -3/+10You will SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!!!!
- repsac3, on 11/07/2009, -0/+6"You speak like you believe that veterans are one big monolithic block. That we all want the same things."
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Tom Tancredo did (as a guy who never served, no less), hence Markos (an actual veteran, just like you) slapping him down.
You're kinda making Markos' point... - teebird, on 11/07/2009, -1/+7David, you really need to learn how to do a better job of being a troll.
You're boring, predictable, pedestrian and your comments, to paraphrase Einstein, aren't even wrong. - bsmang, on 11/07/2009, -1/+7Always great to see when a chicken hawk turns out to be the chicken.
- Atario, on 11/07/2009, -1/+7See alpox's post above.
- Atario, on 11/07/2009, -2/+8XD
- COlNTELAGENTPro, on 11/07/2009, -3/+8On Another note...
That was pretty funny seeing a chickenhawk get called out! - Kirby2000, on 11/07/2009, -2/+7I'm a Chicken-Hawk, and I'm gonna eat me some chickens!
- Insightful, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4Yeah, thecoolestguy. I do not respect anyone who refuses to acknowledge reality. Should the weatherman in the news station be fair and balanced as well?
"Folks, it is raining hard outside but let's be fair and respect the people who claim it is not raining at all."
To give a platform who lies and distorts is as wrong as the distortion itself. - Insightful, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4Fine, FertileBastard You better be paying me back the GI bill you used, the VA services you used etc then. You signed up for a job that I paid you to do and enjoying the benefits.
- bsmang, on 11/07/2009, -1/+5I can't believe this guy still has a Digg account.
- IHaveIssues, on 11/07/2009, -1/+5Just Block him.
- RagManX, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4"Their ratings are for crap."
As are your digg comment ratings. Clearly ratings are a totally accurate indicator of worthiness.
"Relatively few people watch them."
Much as relatively few people read your comments.
"You'd probably just be wasting your time."
Having just read and responded to your poorly rated comment, I know I just wasted my time. But sometimes, I have to sacrifice so others don't. - bsmang, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3You have no point. Tancredo was treated perfectly fairly. If he was too depressed to go fight when it was his time, then he shouldn't be speaking for vets.
- repsac3, on 11/07/2009, -1/+3No FertileB, though it does mean they shouldn't try to tell a vet what "veterans" believe about an issue. Doing so, particularly when you spoke in support a conflict but didn't serve, yourself, is kinda short-sighted.
(I don't think he's a chickenhawk--
which I believe should be reserved for those who favorably compare their "service" in Congress (or as an associate professor of political science at a local community college, in the case of one wingnut blogger I know) to those who serve on the battlefield in time of war. "Mitten" Romney's comment a few years ago about his son's "serving their country" by trying to get him elected was a chickenhawk comment, fer'instance...
--but that doesn't mean Tancredo isn't kind of a douchebag for playing the "I speak for vets" card to an actual veteran....) - Suprk, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2VA a joke??

- Maddoktor2, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1In case anyone doesn't know, a 1Y deferment means that you're 'qualified for military service only in time of national emergency'.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/07/2009, -3/+3he was obviously a pussy for doing that, but a man can't be judged on just one part of his life.
- teebird, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1Any you're proof that a lack of intellect or of anything worthwhile to say is not a significant barrier to posting on the Internet.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/08/2009, -2/+1teebird, why are you getting angry at my celebration of gays being able to get into the military!?
- DavidNiven, on 11/08/2009, -3/+1No, you miss MY point. This was a discussion that had nothing to do with the messengers or speakers involved. Would you have said the same thing if Tancredo had pointed out Moulitsas' homosexuality as disqualifying him from speaking out on issues of marriage, male/female relationships, good order and discipline within the military, Christianity (which says that homosexual behavior is evil), etc.? Would you have?
See the problem? Ad hominem attacks are good only for sound bites to impress immature viewers with emotion-based arguments. For the rest of us, it is nothing but lame schoolyard taunts. - DavidNiven, on 11/08/2009, -4/+1The point is...that I was just as abusive towards Moulitsas as he was toward Tancredo. Did you not pick up on that?
Why is it OK for a liberal to do that to another...but not for someone to do that to him?
See the point? - thecoolestguy, on 11/07/2009, -5/+1for a moment there I thought you were talking about 'Young Americans for Liberty', and was puzzled why you would attack them. But now I see that's a different organization.
- basickly, on 11/07/2009, -6/+1A douche-bag hat trick, I like that.
- thecoolestguy, on 11/07/2009, -10/+5So nyou only show respect people whose view you agree with. Great approach to debate.
- diggbigwig, on 11/07/2009, -8/+2Summary: The young feminine guy couldn't beat the old dude in the debate so he called him draft dodger. Old dude demands an apology, doesn't get it, so he leaves.
Not exactly a 'confrontation' and not exactly "storms" off the stage.
I'm confused. I thought you Diggberals liked draft dodgers. - FertileBastard, on 11/07/2009, -9/+2You speak like you believe that veterans are one big monolithic block. That we all want the same things.
I'll tell you what this veteran wants... Get the government the hell out of my way and let me make my own way according to the freedoms stated in the constitution. You think we all went over there to protect our right to a free handout? - Stryder81, on 11/07/2009, -14/+7I don't like Tancredo for multiple reasons, 1 of him being a Neo-Con but Markos was wrong but pulling that " I didn't get a deferment because I was too depressed to fight in a war that I supported in Vietnam. "
That had nothing to do with Healthcare and making a personal blow then going back to the subject is doing the exact same thing that the Neo-Cons & Right do. -
