The brown ones kind of look like M&Ms. - twinkikabuki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ovu-licious.
- sogracefully, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3or norplant; the company discontinued making it, actually, because of the cost of one of the pieces inside of the little releasing device. and yes, the US is far behind the times on any kind of contraceptive availability, because it has its head so far up its own ignorant "hey abstinence only sex education totally works guys!!" ass.
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is this over the counter?
- kristin364, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Personally, birth control pills are so tiny that I can't imagine anybody having trouble swallowing them. I think it'd be more work to try and chew the little thing up.
- AwwJeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Regular birth control tablets kind of look like Smarties, so I guess M&M-like contraceptives are kind of a given when I really think about it.
- Dested, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hello my new most used out of context comment.
- sogracefully, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no, no hormonal contraceptives are over the counter because of the issue with blood pressure and possible blood clots in susceptible people. when a woman goes to get a prescription for it, they have to do a whole medical exam to make sure it's safe because of those things, so it's likely that it will never be OTC.
- oldenburg06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On this topic, pharmacists should not be able to judge what drugs they're going to dispense. Their job is to fill prescriptions.
If a pharmacist tries to play judge on these issues and won't dispense contraceptives, fire him or her. They need to get another job: lobbyist, priest, whatever. - LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2oooo, heeee, haahahaha. OMG that's funny! Oh dear lord! and no I'm not religious. and now to wipe away the tears.
- NoQuarter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Many people have irrational fears about swallowing tablets, it can be quite a foreign act to someone who never learnt how. It will of course need washing down to wash it down through the oesophagus (where it could cause irritation and have a delayed therapeutic effect).
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They should come out with a gum.
Hookers on street corners chewing gum lol! - Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Did anyone else read "Chewbacca Contraceptive Hits Pharmacy Shelves"...still not as bad as me reading every "Will" in the headline as Wii I guess..."Wii Wheaton" just sounds so wrong
- matthewaaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Condoms are chewable..."
Gross... - DrDabbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The brown ones could very well be chocolate...as they are simply "blanks". That would be the week the female would menstruate. That'd also typically be the best time for chocolate. What an excellent marketing plan you've conceived without even knowing. :-P
- baldr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@ zomgmana
STOP leaving that comment on every digg story! (everyone can see your comment history) - DrDabbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@sogracefully
Become active, and vote your mind. Otherwise, we're no longer interested in your "America is soooo far behind with sex" bitching. Seriously. Educate your own kids the way you want and move the hell on. - LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Who picked a peck of pickled puss.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First result from a Google search for "chewable contraceptive" brings a parody article from 2001 predicting this: http://www.recoilmag.com/news/chewable_birth_control_pills.html
- LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ZOMG!!! you replied to a post with a picture on it! How can you argue when your basic assumptions are so obviously and clearly incorrect?!
- pharmd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You might be talking of Depo-provera an injectable that lasts for 3 months. It is available in the U.S. too
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what does Chewie have to say about all of this ?
RoRoRoR Garm Bla
Wyaaaaaa. Ruh ruh - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is just what Christmas needed for that 8 year old Jennifer! Damn, she's well developed for her age.
- str8jack3t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0FTA: "Women must drink 8 ounces of water with the tablet." How does that make a "chewable" tablet any different from the pill? How is it more convenient?
- acidhash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I did not have sexual relations with that women. But she did share her gum.
- pahoehoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Here you go princess, have some candy...
...
Wait!
...
Oops. - crystalphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Strangely enough, so did I...
This is an interesting idea, although I don't completely understand the point of it. Does minty freshness make it more desirable to take the pill on time? - SeyWat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Target 'em at kids, nice.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wii willy Wheaton was a wuss.
- hypodermia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ortho tri cyclen is so small you don't even need water to swallow one. what's the use ?
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No, just inordinately hard to swallow.
- LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yes, for those women who don't like to swallow, they can chew. OUCH!
- Derelict267, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Are we (U.S.) behind on contraceptives? I heard in Canada they have something they inject in your arm.
- TheGuruStud, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0What do we need these for? Now, I don't know about you, but if she doesn't "swallow" I'm not going to be having sex with her, therefore, negating the need for the contraceptive.
- ktan91, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Who cannot swallow a pill. All I can think of are little kids..
- AwwJeah, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3
