- Soniti, on 06/20/2009, -16/+401I am so sick of seeing these miracle cure stories on Digg. If this ***** is real, it had better appear on CNN soon.
I withhold my Digg until there is proof that this will actually do something, and not just fade into the background like the 5000 other stores alleging cures for HIV, diabetes, Alzheimers, and of course, cancer. - asgardshill, on 06/20/2009, -1/+185Here's hoping this isn't yet another false dawn. Prostate cancer sucks and this new treatment would be a godsend for millions if it actually works.
- freezo1994, on 06/20/2009, -4/+172digg cures cancer yet again
- netdroid9, on 06/20/2009, -9/+137***** CNN and the media, they blow ***** out of proportion all the time. Call me when someone links to the peer-reviewed journal article, then I'll take notice.
- grantHamNeck, on 06/20/2009, -1/+83" The other cautionary note is that both men received hormone therapy, which in some instances causes dramatic reductions in tumour size by itself."
Would have helped if they mentioned this at the top of the article. - inactive, on 06/20/2009, -0/+44Excellent. inpatient chemotherapy is the most painful thing a human can go through and I hope we archive successful targeted drug therapy in a few years. It's so terrible how the current method of treatment can be so devastating. It changes the way you feel and think and even changes the way you taste food. I had stage three testicular cancer that spread to my lung and brain which led to a stroke. The treatment was a thousand times more painful than the actual disease but it cured me.
This is where the real magic happens. Dedicated oncology researchers and doctors and nurses. Not Oprah's wish-away method - belive me, I've tried that even before Oprah's quacks invented it. - stonebear, on 06/20/2009, -3/+474chan is a disease.
- Xaevier, on 06/20/2009, -5/+48And 4chan creates another disease
- arcooke, on 06/20/2009, -6/+42A sciencesend*
- CBOOTY, on 06/20/2009, -0/+30The next time Digg cures cancer will be #2500.
http://digg.com/search?s=CURE+CANCER - inactive, on 06/20/2009, -1/+27What he means is, this medical "breakthrough", better show up on other independent news sources like CNN (or CBS, NBC, ABC, etc), in order to sound more credible. Otherwise its just a fluff piece for a slow news day.
- RepublicofJosh, on 06/20/2009, -0/+25it's*
FTA - "The pair were part of a trial involving 108 patients, half of whom received the experimental drug."
Why don't people read? - Rudegar, on 06/20/2009, -0/+25why would he leave his office?
could he not just tell you to leave?
is it because his shift is over?
is his wife in labour?
what is he leaving??? - handheldchimp, on 06/20/2009, -1/+25Come on, didn't anyone see "I am Legend"? Someone "cures" cancer, tons of people are cured from it, then everyone turns into zombies because they actually created a super virus. On top of that, it all happened in 2009...
- ricker2005, on 06/20/2009, -7/+26So you withhold your Digg for the decade it will take to make it all the way through clinical trials? The reason people on Digg get so angry about these stories is because they have the attention span of a fruit fly and science knowledge to match. To get a drug approved by the FDA, it has to go through 10+ years of trials after you've done the initial work in animals. Sure you don't get instant gratification where there's a story about a promising drug and the next day it's approved. But that approval might come years from now, long after you've finished bitching about another "miracle cure" that didn't work.
- ricker2005, on 06/20/2009, -2/+21Why do I get the feeling that while I'm stating information based on my actual work in the field of cancer research, you're simply saying no without any facts to back your claim?
- JAFFA, on 06/20/2009, -3/+21Get back to your redneck swamp you lonely troll.
- ctabone, on 06/20/2009, -0/+18Dugg for peer review, it's amazing how many of these "breakthroughs" never even get published...
- asgardshill, on 06/20/2009, -0/+18For those who want a bit more meat in their articles than The Independent UK can dish up:
http://theoncologist.alphamedpress.org/cgi/content ... - williemain, on 06/20/2009, -0/+17It is going to be customary for a doctor to leave his office with a smug look and a killer pair of shades in the future.
- acegi, on 06/20/2009, -6/+22you guys are both fags
- wolfing, on 06/20/2009, -0/+16two from 108, 54 received the drug. Others showed improvement as well, but these 2 showed so much improvement that they could now be treated by surgery, which was impossible before the drug
- tgc1, on 06/20/2009, -11/+26Number of times Cancer has been cured on digg: 769,300,323
Number of times Cancer has actually been Cured: 0 - anaxa, on 06/20/2009, -0/+14You are smart.
Please tell us how the ingredients in shampoo get their names. - Yotunii, on 06/20/2009, -0/+14Ipi is the prefix that is chosen by the creators.
lim means that its target is the immune system.
u means that it is of human origin.
mab means monoclonal antibody. - utp216, on 06/20/2009, -0/+12I wish my wife would of lived long enough for a wonder drug to destroy the sarcoma she had. Good news for these men. I hope there health continues to improve. The human race has to find a way to destory this horrible disease!
- DouglasQ, on 06/20/2009, -1/+12Buried for apparent UK hate.
- thbemky827, on 06/20/2009, -2/+13THC
- Peekman, on 06/20/2009, -0/+11You don't put commas on an internet big number..... you just pound the keyboard liker this:
214435465465465431
Otherwise.... it makes it look like there is meaning behind your number... - Babazoz, on 06/20/2009, -2/+13Why indeed OH WAIT, THIS IS DIGG.
Everyone on Digg is a scientist, a politician, an analyst, etc. All at the same time. - NeuralAgent, on 06/20/2009, -0/+10Why don't we also have walks, marathons or bike rides for Prostate Cancer?
- LimeParrot, on 06/20/2009, -0/+10Wow, I had an exam on monoclonal antibodies the other day. Cool. They're super expensive though.
- daridave, on 06/20/2009, -2/+12My dad's in the hospital right now. He's got something very wrong with his prostate and they're not sure what it is yet. This is the best news I've heard all week. (and the worst Father's Day of my life.)
- Ne007, on 06/20/2009, -4/+14after the doctor leaves his office, you sit there contemplating your early death and miserable excuse of a life. You think to yourself, "if only I hadn't spent all those years masterbating and trolling digg.com!...DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT! Damn my collection of pokemon and star wars collectibles!"
But then, like a miracle left-handed ejaculation, the doctor bursts back into your examination room and says "I FOUND IT! I FOUND IT! The miracle cure on DIGG! It's all real and YOU ARE ALREADY CURED!" - theodenking, on 06/20/2009, -4/+14What?
- Incomp3tnt, on 06/20/2009, -0/+9I hate my British accent. I want an Irish one :(
- spectecjr, on 06/20/2009, -1/+10No, they shouldn't. Ethically speaking, it's totally /unethical/ for them to continue the tests in isolation if the results are that impressive, and can help others.
That's the difference between medical science and regular science.
They can continue exploring it, but they have a duty to report their results early in this case. - buddypriefert, on 06/20/2009, -0/+8I think this is the same process my dad went through almost two years ago. He was supposedly the "first human" to undergo this treatment. So far, nothing has come up on radar. It was done at Scott & White Temple.
- Joghobs, on 06/20/2009, -1/+9side-effects: may cause cancer.
- satori3000, on 06/21/2009, -1/+9something like 80% of men will develop prostrate cancer if they live long enough, but usually we die before it becomes an issue. We really do need a cure for this.
- Pilot85, on 06/20/2009, -2/+10Ipilimumab. Anyone else have to stare at the word to get the pronunciation right?
- ricker2005, on 06/20/2009, -2/+10True. That's why I try to stick to things I know something about, like science and lion-taming.
- williemain, on 06/20/2009, -0/+8I sure hope these test patients don't turn into vampires and infest the world...
- jn1167, on 06/20/2009, -1/+8WOW!!
- Incomp3tnt, on 06/20/2009, -0/+7If one of those two people were your son/daughter/spouse/whatever maybe you wouldn't be so negative.
- DouglasQ, on 06/20/2009, -2/+9I'm English, I love how loved we are, even after all the horrible ***** we've done. Thank god for our smexy accents.
- Yazilliclick, on 06/20/2009, -3/+9If your so curious why don't you look it up? And no it doesn't mean castration.
- MWeather, on 06/26/2009, -0/+6It's cheaper than dying of cancer.
- tensheapz, on 06/21/2009, -0/+6eradicate*
- DouglasQ, on 06/20/2009, -0/+6Yeah, Digg is treating the development for a cure for cancer as some kind of PROCESS! When we all know one day it'll just 'happen' and the world shall be well.
