- dupems, on 04/24/2009, -1/+11In other news, it has been discovered that living is the number one cause of cancer.
- lordmike, on 04/24/2009, -0/+9Actually, prior to this report, the general consensus was that nicotine was actually very safe, even therapeutic for conditions like Ulvceratve Colitis... It was all the stuff in tobacco that was cancerous... This study is really throwing conventional medical wisdom on its head!
- Lucas123, on 04/22/2009, -0/+9You're only supposed to chew the stuff a few months to ween yourself off smoking. Then again, I know a guy who's been chewing the stuff for years though, as a substitute for his previous addiction to nicotine with cigarettes.
- xDynaBlade, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7Instead of making a list of things that are carcinogenic, it would be much easier to make a list of things that aren't carcinogenic...
- andrewtheart, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6"Cancer risk from just about every substance in existence higher than previously thought ... Scientists need to chill out and stop worrying everybody, because the public knows by now that the odds something they consume will give them a malignant tumor at some point in the future are depressingly high"
- Rorsach, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5But smoking is bad for your lungs AND your heart. The gum saves your lungs, so that's a plus.
- Gloony, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4***** you. Two of my friends died living!
- SirFoxx, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3*****. This is just another fake study to further promote making nicotine illegal.
- Foenetik, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3stogies are seven ***** bucks a pack, that's incentive enough.
- wpc33, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Hmmm...
Keep smoking, for years and years, and probably get cancer....
orrrr...
Try to ***** quit, succeed and never touch nicotine again.
Oh boy, let me think. The gum may be carcinogenic...is that worse than smoking cigarettes?
/s - imikedaman, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Things don't cause cancer, they can only increase the odds. Anything that causes cell replication to increase will also increase the risk that one of those cells is cancerous.
- sndream, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3But Nicotine gum doesn't cause cancer in others, which is a bless for non smoker.
- dotsona, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2What doesn't cause cancer? No seriously....
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2.....
what? - tornadojoe, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2It's the TSNA's, mostlly from igniting and inhaling tobacco that are the major cause of cancer in smokers. Smokeless tobacco (like swedish snus, or redman chew) are much, much, much lower in TSNAs, and even American Dip is getting lower and lower. Any type of smokeless nicotine delivery is 100x better than smoking. I quit with Swedish Snus and I'm never going back to smoking again. If you're going to quit with snus, just order or find the swedish variety. It's treated as a food product there and the ingredients have to be listed on the label, and nothing can go into the products that isn't suitable to be eaten by law...unlike the camel and marlboro snus in the united states...god knows what's in that stuff.
- Psara, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Beef jerky has tons of carcinogens in it. Who cares?
- moofree, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Death.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1True, but smoking isn't near as bad for the heart as the gum is, which was my point. Whoever dugg me down is nerdy.
- harpdog, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1Also the nicotine gum tastes bad and is not very strong, tobacco gum on the other hand really works and gives you a good nicotine hit. Many heavy smokers fail with nicotine gum as it just doesnt fix you. Swedish Snus on the other hand if ***** awsome and really really works and as a 40 a day smoker with years of fail qutting attempts I started on Snus 4 months ago and never smoked since. I have gone from 2 packs a day to 4 portions of snus per day. Sure I know there is a health risk with Snus but its 90% safer than smoking cigarettes. It also tastes good and you can use it in the Pub.
- rinarina99, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1seems that it's too hard to quit smoking... what we should do is to protect ourselves.. good luck..
- MYarms, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1So what do you want, a medal?
- 8FoldPath, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1I knew something was wrong because the gum I tried tasted like *****. The patches got me to kick the habit, ultimately.
- aftershave, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1I just chew herbal gum.
- ontain, on 04/24/2009, -1/+1organic foods high in antioxidants?
- donnytomas, on 04/24/2009, -1/+1Gum doesn't help...it only makes it worse.
http://www.whyquit.com - mrfreeziexp, on 04/24/2009, -7/+7Nicotine has a cancer risk? WHO COULD HAVE FORESEEN THIS?!
- Zippo, on 04/24/2009, -2/+2***** like this makes me glad I've never even tried cigarettes. Haven't smoked a day in my life and never will.
- Bloodboiler, on 04/24/2009, -0/+0Nicotine is the actual product in cigarettes.
(an approximate quote from someone in the know)
From the nicotine gum TV adds and stands in stores, it is painfully obvious the real purpose of the gum is to replace one nicotine addiction with another nicotine addiction. - skeetshot, on 04/24/2009, -2/+1stogies are cigars
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -3/+2I quit smoking through use of the gum. It was very easy but I got addicted to the gum.
A drop of pure nicotine on the skin is enough to kill a human being. The chemical is a poison. I had to quit the gum because it was just as bad for my heart as smoking was for my lungs. - Foenetik, on 04/24/2009, -2/+1yet you still know the context in which I'm speaking...
- soumaka, on 04/24/2009, -2/+0i any one have that fear from being sick especially from cancer, his will of stoping will appear and that help him to at least reduce the number of cigaret he take
