Exercising Your Brain really Prevents Memory Loss ! - RATM4EVER, on 02/18/2009, -1/+7Does finding all the hidden objects on the back of the cereal box count?
- drunkenoaf, on 02/18/2009, -0/+5If it can't, Nintendo are conning us out of millions...
- Alli3388, on 02/18/2009, -0/+4Seriously?? Are you that guy in those old anti-"reefer" posters from the 50s and 60s?
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -1/+4Another reason to keep playing Starcraft the second i get home from work.
- albaghly, on 02/18/2009, -1/+4um isnt this called studying?
new headline: "BREAKING: Studying and using your brain proven to prevent memory loss" - Alli3388, on 02/18/2009, -1/+4I think the brain is an organ... with no muscle tissue in it whatsoever.
- andersleet, on 02/18/2009, -0/+3...most people have no logic at all.
- kingUssop, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2Incredibly old news and it making the frontpage, that's using your noodle digg.
- Pseudorious, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2It's certainly good to know, but it still seems as obvious as, "can exercising your muscles prevent weakness?"
- Jabb0, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2Can taking a dump ease the effects of constipation???
- OwdenBowden, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2It would be nice to have a link to a few sites that have these exercises on them. I guess someone wasn't using their brain.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2I assume that it can. Your body has a "use it or lose it" policy.
- acyork, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2wait...what?
- s4g4n, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2Thank god pottery is on the list, I was getting a little bit concerned.
Wait. - froggertv, on 02/18/2009, -1/+3wow! .........i will practice
- shylove, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1What was it I just said???
- yikiad, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1damn!! i forgot to work out...
- shylove, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Who is exercising the brain??? Does the brain exercise itself with auto neurotic stimulation? Is it the neurogenous zone? How much exercise do you get thinking you are exercising the brain or is the mind exercising the brain? What if you are absent minded?
Does abs exercise help your absent mindedness? What if is a nobrainer?
Meditation rests the mind and it is quite a bit better than exercise. It is the best exercise there is. Please everyone give it a rest for once!!! - brinner, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Does anyone find it funny that the research relies on the memories of these people?
- killthefluxx, on 02/18/2009, -1/+2NO *****.....no seriously what idiot had to be told this??? your brain is like a muscle for memory and information...though obviously lots of factors apply you dont use it you lose it...
- rand0mm0nkey, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Exercising your body helps the brain as well.

http://www.chiff.com/a/exercise_age_brain.htm - cckid, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1would make sense that all that extra oxygen does your brain some good...
- andersleet, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1dunno about FPS..but RGPs seem to have some good things going for them:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26271240/ (one of many articles floating about)
I suppose then that my 200+ days /played isn't all for naught!
i do know that FPS gamers have better hand-eye coordination as compared to their non-gaming peers, i would imagine that RTS and similar game genres would provide the coordination as well as a multitude of other brain stimuli. - laim, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1funny how that works
- dtfinch, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Didn't a bunch of other studies show that highly educated people are at greater risk for alzheimers?
- FastZ, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1So here's my brain work-out schedule:
Three 10 - 15 reps of Playboy. 30 seconds of rest between each set
Three 8 - 10 reps of heavy reading. 30 seconds of rest between sets
??????
Profit!!
Do this three times a week with a rest day in between (ie. M-W-F do this workout and rest on Tuesdays and Thursdays) - converge, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1In other news, the sky is perceived as the color "blue" to the human retina!
Christ, if I'm watching seven hours of TV a day at any age in my lifetime, please shoot me. - Catchpen, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Hmm this reminded me to renew my Mad magazine sub.
- Alli3388, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Has it really come to that? People have to be advised to read even a magazine???? God help us all. :-/
- DAILYCROW, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1Is it rumor or did Ronald Reagan have alzheimers towards the end of his office?
- 6oo63D, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1It's only a simple case of use it or lose it.
- TheScogg, on 02/18/2009, -0/+1It has affected my short term memory, which caused said memories to never go into long term memory. Don't be that guy who's the exact opposite of the reefer madness dude. I'm for it's legalization just as much as you are, but I recognize that it does have certain negative effects in addition to a plethora of posiitve effects.
- Iveestyle, on 06/19/2009, -0/+0Isn't this great. It seems like the body can fix itself no matter what. I guess it makes sense considering how long we have been around. In an age of antibiotics and over the counter scams, I love to see we have the power to change ourselves so much.
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -1/+1What about playing FPS games? Exercising the brain?
- constant247, on 02/18/2009, -0/+0Definitely it is after all essentially Muscle how do you feel when you exercise?? good!! It all needs to be as a Whole.
