"Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck dick for coke" - turion64, on 08/21/2008, -2/+56Can we please just move on as a generation already, it's been too many years that we're spending money funding the DEA to crack down on innocent people. The reason there's so much money in the drug industry is because of it's illegality.
If marijuana was as dangerous as these republicans and politicians are saying it is, I want to know why the hell thousands of doctors across the world prescribe it. Does some snobby rich politician know something that a qualified physician doesn't?
If marijuana were to wreak havoc on society, I want to know why Canada's not a country full of murderous criminals and druggies.
We really need to move on, this whole drug war is getting out of hand. - angeladtao, on 08/21/2008, -12/+40What? Are those clouds over there in California? Could it be that sanity is about to reign?
- Tom10803, on 08/22/2008, -1/+18But marijuana makes you go crazy and kill your house guests.
If anything, marijuana prevents crime. Try fighting while high, try doing anything high.... - inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+19No, it's the smog.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -2/+18Mary Louise Parker is hot!
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -3/+17You're an idiot, and this is coming from someone who has never touched cannabis sativa (or any psychoactive drugs besides caffeine) or supports Obama. I believe that cannabis sativa must be legalized because some people need it. Some AIDs patients need it to stop from starving to death. Furthermore, it's an important herb to several different religious groups.
- Br3ach, on 08/21/2008, -3/+16Makes me sick how much money is spent so the DEA can go raid anyone they please over such a menial "drug". This guy isnt exactly Osama Bin Laden, just a person in pain that marijuana could help with. Just *****.
- inactive, on 08/21/2008, -1/+13Yeah, it's sane to banish a plant. /s
- smotpoker, on 08/21/2008, -1/+12Interesting that you seem to believe an article about medicinal use of a drug by sick people as prescribed by their doctors is "for the dopers".
It is also kind of odd that you would associate "the dopers" with Obama rather than Barr, Kucinich, Paul or one of the other "candidates" who actually openly support all-out legalization.
On second thought, I guess it's not all that odd (and even *less* credible) coming from someone whose nick indicates their sole purpose on digg is to attack/discredit Obama... - Kakumeikeahi, on 08/22/2008, -1/+11Because obviously having marijuana is hurtful to people, so we should stop it. I mean look at all the terrible things people have done on the narcotic.
Like, uh, being lazy, being hungry, laughing a lot. I think it's the noise pollution from all the laughter that is the biggest problem the DEA is spending all that money for.
We must act now to stop laughter!
...or we could all just relax some, and start focusing on -Real Problems- that plague us as a species. - absurdist, on 08/22/2008, -0/+10You, sir, are a blindered idiot.
My sister is going through chemo. Besides having her hair fall out, she has extreme nausea most of the time. Extreme to the point of throwing up water. She was prescribed Marinol. She threw it up. Smoking or vaporizing cannabis is the only delivery system that enables her to get the THC into her system and be able to eat. I'm convinced she'd be dead by now were it not for that. Try looking past the "OMG TEH STONERS JUST WANT TTH POT!!!!!!!11ONE" mindset and look at the thousands, if not millions of people who get relief from horrible symptoms and try having a little compassion. - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10Just leave the damn pot users alone. How does a judge know how much they need to alleviate the pain & swelling.
- satyr9us, on 08/21/2008, -4/+13The war on drugs is wrong. It's only a failure if you accept the premise that its purpose is to inhibit the trafficking and usage of drugs.
Your hero Bob Barr is pandering to the only constituency gullible enough to believe he means anything he says. Is there one position he hasn't done a 180 on without batting an eye? He'll betray you. Watch. - inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9If pot became legal, i think in time (maybe a year?) it would be like alcohol , people wouldn't care, and those that did would do it responsibly most of the time.
- bizkit00, on 08/22/2008, -1/+10So, CA state legislature will determine that LA county legislature rulings on marijuana don't matter, while the Federal DoJ determines that CA state legislature rules on marijuana don't matter. Awesome.

Are you the property of the government? The government has no authority to dictate to me or anyone what they do with their own body. It's time to end victimless crimes.
Man A sits in his house, smoking a joint, while Man B sits in his house drinking a beer. Man B is not aware of what Man A is doing. If Man B is not effected by Man A, then why should the actions of Man A be of any concern to Man B? The only time it should matter to Man B, is if Man A is smoking with, or selling to Man B's children. Then arrest Man A, not for smoking a joint, but for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The private actions of any person should be just that, PRIVATE, and not subject to a test of your morality, or any other person's morality. - kinghajj, on 08/22/2008, -1/+7That already exists, it's called Marinol, but like thePTS said, it's not as effective as marijuana. Marijuana has more chemicals than just THC, and these are believed to have more effect in conjunction with THC than THC alone.
- harrisbradley, on 08/22/2008, -1/+7I'm from Californian, and them are fightin' words.
- SciFctn, on 08/22/2008, -1/+7"Because Kelly had about 4 ounces more marijuana than allowed...he was arrested for cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale. The charges were filed despite the lack of any evidence associated with the sale of marijuana such as nickel and dime bags, pagers, cell phones, pay-owe sheets, money, safes or elaborate growing systems at the Kelly residence. Kelly denied ever selling marijuana."

it's called WEED for a reason. it grows anywhere. how does packaging it solve anything? people will still grow it. the only way to stop the "problem" is for pot to be grown legally on a commercial scale.
chemo patients do get a synthetic THC in pill form - Marinol. - SciFctn, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5Booooooooooo
- Mpwns, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5whats funny is before the 1900's you could pay your taxes with weed if you did not have the money. then nylon came around and new drugs came around and cannabis was a threat to them since smoking it helped a lot of things, i did some looking into it and found out they used to have asthma sufferers smoke a little to help them when they had an attack and it worked faster than what they have us use now(i have asthma and since i joined the 420 club it has not bothered me since).the stuff has what seems like endless uses besides smoking it.almost as if its here for a reason.
for those of you that doubt me on weed and asthma http://forum.grasscity.com/medical-marijuana/89990 ...
if thats not enough here is more info
http://www.google.com/search?q=weed+asthma&ie=utf- ... - thePTS, on 08/21/2008, -1/+5They tried this for a while, but it didn't turn out to have the same effect as the smoked variant..
- GregFD3S, on 08/21/2008, -1/+5What the hell do you people have against California?
- absurdist, on 08/22/2008, -1/+5Pure jealousy, plain and simple. We in California know we live in one of the best places on Earth, and these narrow-minded puritanical bigots can't stand that.
- babbitblob, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whats with the hair bias, man? Plenty of us straight-hairs have developed phantom pains and undiagnosed glaucoma too. Uncool.
- Andrwmorph, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4Its going to be a little longer than a year. We need to wait for all the crotchety old guys in our government to die.
- iatebabies, on 08/22/2008, -1/+5No... I see. The monkey's out of the bottle now!
Pandora can't go back into the box, he only comes out. - zerries, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4Try reading the Constitution.
- apextek, on 08/22/2008, -2/+6you leave marijuana alone! it never hurt anyone!
- Tyrghast, on 08/22/2008, -1/+4I don't mind a limit on marijuana so long as it's within reason, I do mind the Federal government preying on it's own people and wasting their tax dollars (War on Drugs).
- SciFctn, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Dont you think that if this guy was in it for the $ he would have a bigger setup and not have the plants in his freakin back yard?
- sanguinekane, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Our weather, our mountains, our coast, our cities, our forests, our deserts, our lakes, our rivers, our tech industry, our tv/film industry, our defense industry, our wine, our beer, and our cannabis, to name just a few.
California has a lot to make people who live in much of the rest of the country green with envy you see. - dizilbdog, on 08/22/2008, -2/+5Our country thrives on the illegal use of drugs that the CIA and government ship in all the time. As well the private jail systems thrive on drug arrests. Lots of companies go back and forth exchanging money for goods and ect. Drugs in america will never be legalized.

- SciFctn, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3When I first read the article it didnt occur to me but considering that the Marijuana was being grown outside, it would only harvest once, maybe twice, per year. I think it's fair that they be able to stockpile their crop in that circumstance.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+4Legal in California, illegal in the United States... makes perfect sense to me.
- Coinspinner, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2It is very hard for me to forgive Bob Barr for his single-handed act of stopping the vote counting for the DC medical marijuana act (he withheld financing to count because everyone knew the outcome. It would have cost an estimated $1.60 to hit the button, he withheld that $1.60 thru an administrative procedure.)
Yes, this is painfully true.
I am really wanting to like him, but it is hard to trust a traitor, even if that traitor has traded to our side. - fractalman, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2And even fewer that care what you think.
- VWBusman, on 08/23/2008, -0/+2This country has been duped into going fascist/communist via collectivism.
- kokoshka, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3It's called marinol. Pure, synthetic THC. Unfortunately it is only one of several components in marijuana, and smoking offers immediate relief and much greater control over dosage. Sativex is a THC spray that is absorbed orally, but is still not as good as the real stuff. There's also the issue of cost. It's a lot cheaper to grow some plants. While I'm at it, here's a wikipedia article on vaporization, a smokeless delivery method.
