- SaltedCashews, on 10/10/2007, -1/+91I don't have a problem with caffeine. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITHOUT CAFFEINE!!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41"But for the general public, the trend is more about getting a legal high. "Caffeine is the world's most popular mood-altering drug," says David Schardt, senior nutritionist at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. And companies have been banking on its addictive properties to bring repeat business. Caffeine can lift your mood, improve concentration, boost physical stamina and, as an active ingredient in Excedrin, help cure headaches. More than 50 percent of caffeine drinkers experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop." (from the article)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+34what about his bawls?
- Darkhacker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28I'm probably losing geek points for saying this, but I've been off caffeine for about four months now and am feeling great. Plus I've lost weight because those drinks usually contain a lot of sugar and empty calories. I went from 195 lbs to 174 lbs.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22that dude in the pic has a ***** batman-style utility belt of nerdiness. what a douche.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22I bet the makers of Ambien and that AbrahamLincolntalkingtoaGopher pill is behind the push for caffeine in everything!
It's a kkkonspiracy! - webtechgeek, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20mmm coffee
- ut2k4king, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Inaccurate. Caffeinated soap isn't just showing up, it's been out for years on ThinkGeek.com
- Jericon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17*twitch* I'm not *twitch* addicted *twitch twitch* to caffeine.
- Gazpacho, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16I use to work a 5am-2pm shift. In order to get across town and be ready for work I'd get up at 3am. Then thanks to my boyfriend working 10am-6 or 7pm shift I wasn't getting in bed until late. I was at a point I needed caffeine to jump start me and keep me happy through the day. I'm so happy I'm away from that shift and laying off the Bawls.

- emom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11And caffeine withdrawals are actually categorized on the DSM-IV (which is a psychological disorder measurement standard) http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/490510.
Ever gone cold turkey off of caffeine? I'll take depression any day over that. - dattaway, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11http://www.dattaway.us/pepsi.jpg
- Jensaarai, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I hate those obnoxious coffee drinkers. Stinking up the room with their fresh brewed blends. I can barely stand to be in the same room as a coffee drinker. And my God, have you looked at the ground where coffee drinkers hang out? Littered with broken pieces of mugs carelessly tossed everywhere when they're done.
Personally, I think anyone who drinks coffee around a child is irresponsible. The second-hand droplets of coffee spilling out of the mugs could scald them. - RocketGib, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11ThinkGeek has a huge department dedicated to Caffinated products: http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/

- Indyanna, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Congrats on the 20 pounds! Twice in my life I've lost a total of 15 pounds - and both times I brought home 7 pounds from the hospital. Other than that....not much success at weight loss. *sigh*
- dillibob, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14i gave up caffene for a while, then i got hooked again. damn caffene
- steger, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Caffeine is addicting because it works. mmm coke.
- saltmiser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9posers, I was addicted to caffeine before it was cool
- theNthDoctor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Word. I was introduced to coffee when I was 12 and now, at 30, I depend on it to stave off depression and distraction moreso than I do for energy. If I go two days without coffee I get nearly paralyzed with emotion.
- renegadeafk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9mmm cancer
- outlaw686, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7all those phones but no one to call him.....
- Homunculiheaded, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7good old coffee has a bunch of caffeine, also no sugar (or if you do like sugar much less than a soda) AND is actually good for you. Caffeine has some health benefits on it's own, but coffee itself is wonderful (plus it actually tastes great!).
- Araya213, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Well *****, we'd better ban it, too many people are enjoying caffeine.
- bizen, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Well, well, well. Watch out coffee drinkers, now that the media is calling it an addiction you are next on the Nanny hit-list.
We quiet, polite, yet unrepentant smokers will be over here in the corner laughing. - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10mmmm battery acid!
- Cyclica, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7"There's nothing inherently wrong with being dependent on caffeine," says Roland Griffiths, a neuroscientist at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. As long as you don't overdose.
I think you could say that of almost any drug. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7mmmmm, carbonic acid....
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yep, I remember them showing it on the Screen Savers at least 5 years ago. Leo Laporte gave up coffee, used the soap, and proceeded to go through caffeine withdrawal on air.
- maxim2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Are you threatening me?!!!
- robzienert, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6That's why they're pills. You swallow them, not chew on them like they're laffy taffy.
- RanIntoTheDevil, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Man, I get killer headaches if I don't get my fix, depressed too. It's a love and hate relationship between me caffeine.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7You think I can get a medical marijuana license because of that?
- bluejet, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Buried because I'm not addicted to caffeine. I can stop drinking it whenever I want. 8^]
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I quit caffeine because of the problems with it... first of all I was drinking too much, and I too much is very bad... And the crash afterward really sucks.
I stay away from most things with caffeine in it these days, although it's hard to do, lot of things have caffeine.
Sucks doesn't it, that Caffeine is common place in so many drinks and foods these days, when it is (debatebly) more addictive than Marijuana. But you don't see Marijuana being legal of course... lol =/
I'm concerned about my health, and I know that many things that are common place in modern society, are more harmful than Marijuana. Yes I bring up this topic too much... but Isn't it quiet hypocritical of us to think that alcohol and caffeine are ok, but outlaw Marijuana? Plus it might actually be healthy to have Marijuana here and there... - gr3yn3t, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9i like turtles.
alright, digg me down... - sigintop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5But there are different kinds of carbohydrates. A complex carbohydrate will provide the longer and healthier source of energy than processed sugars. You'll get tons of energy with the processed sugar but you'll also crash like crazy.
- HigherLogic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6In other news, marijuana is _still_ illegal in the US.
- gnixon70, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Okay, I quit drinking, smoking, and eating such bad things all the time and getting into an exercising regime, but my morning coffee is where I draw the line. It's my last real vise and I don't care what they say about it I'm not quitting.
- robsonde, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I gave up caffeine a few years ago.
there was a time that i dident feel awake till i have three good hits of caffeine and another three durning the day.
about 2003 i went caffeine free.
spent three weeks being half asleep all the day.
once my body got the idea it could work with out caffeine i find i wake faster, have more energy during the day, save $50 per week.
I find i need a good 8-9 hours sleep a night, if i do need to take caffeine (coke) it wakes me up very well.
I now have a 600ML coke about twice a week. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5He's a douchebag that holds the douche that you would douche another larger douchebag with. What a douche.
- KineticShampoo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6My girlfriend is a caffein junkie. She absolutely LOVES coffee and it gets to the point if there is no coffee in the apartment, I have to go buy some.
Friggin' bitch. - nairanvac, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6...Then you didn't give it up.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I believe caffeine was used way before tobacco
- geardosdotnet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5There is nothing inherently wrong with coffee unless you are sensitive to it in some way. Cola is a much more serious problem though. A 5-6 regular cokes a day habit means you are getting 850-1000 extra calories a day, the equivalent of a large meal. Diet coke contains sweeteners which may not be healthy. Many people drink cola almost exclusively which means they are not getting all the water or vitamins they need. Small amounts of coffee throughout the day seems to work well and is not unhealthy unless you go crazy with the milk/cream and sugar. Tea is also a good option, especially if it is taken without milk or sugar.
- WongWeiHo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Am I the only person who saw this and thought "OMG there's HYPER-CAFFEINATED Diet Coke where??"
- dark_helmet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I've decided to give it up, but for a set amount of time, so that it works better again.
- StatusQuoRules, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Coke is so much nicer than Pepsi
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I like weed. It's not as addicting.
