brb, smoke - inactive, on 07/20/2009, -6/+20Let's prey on the weakest.
- LuckyASN, on 07/20/2009, -2/+15Maybe big tobacco just wants to give the rest of the world a chance to win their own marathons?
- Rotzooi, on 07/20/2009, -1/+14Religion has them already covered.

- Scald42, on 07/20/2009, -8/+19I started smoking despite knowing all the risks and everything, jesus stop trying to be such a damned nanny state and let people live their own lives
- ShawnMattCraw, on 07/20/2009, -2/+13If you get tricked into smoking a cigarette then you deserve to have cancer.
- maddprof, on 07/20/2009, -1/+9Does anyone else love the irony of the situation?
Once upon a time, "Western Civilization" (geographically loosely defined) went into Africa to enslave the people to grow our tobacco and now "Western Civilization" is going back to Africa to sell them the very thing we enslaved them for. - NaturalCauzes, on 07/20/2009, -1/+8OK, let me tell you boys something about smoking, OK? Smoking's bad. And if you start smoking at an early age, it's gonna be bad. And smoking can lead to all kinds of health problems... like cancer... OK? And let me tell you something about cancer... cancer's bad.
- thatonekid393, on 07/20/2009, -0/+6Have you seen that South Park episode?
- Travelsonic, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6How in *****'s name are they tricked?
- Snoogs, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Good thing there's TONS of money in Africa to support the industry. You'd think people would choose feeding themselves and their children over getting their Nick fix.
- llopez1223, on 07/20/2009, -5/+9They gotta make their moneys somehow.
- bagelmaster, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4First it requires you to override your natural hunger for meat. Then once you've completely suppressed nature (usually helps to be taking protein pill- made from animals a lot of times) you can live a completely vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

- bagelmaster, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3Just like any other person. Jesus titty ***** Christ people, are you really THAT ***** brainwashed by anti-tobacco companies to think these people are Satan worshipping *****? They are just normal people, selling a product that oh-by-the-way may cause cancer. No one in the tobacco industry forces kids or anyone else to smoke. They just make a product that is in demand and sell it, even with the government and self-righteous pricks riding their asses the whole way.
- Rotzooi, on 07/20/2009, -1/+4But they need our help to free that money, since the fees need to be paid. If you could please send a few thousand dollars through Western Union, you'll be able to share in the multi-million dollar fortune.
- longbow486, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3sounds like a good idea, haven't had one since lunch
- gnixon70, on 07/20/2009, -1/+3When you look at the history of the tobacco companies in the US, their advertising campaign, the doctor endorsements, Flintstones commercials, etc. They loose serious ground over here once people were finally onto their scam. Now they move on to countries and regions that are virtually unregulated to peddle their wares. these guys are the true face of evil for sure.
- mikemehak, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Nobody sucks back their first smoke and says MAN THAT WAS SMOOTH (atleast not to yourself, maybe to your buddies)
- deadasdisco, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2i didn't once tell anyone what to do with their life. every time i say something bad about smoking, people get so up in arms and defensive. if you wanna smoke, go ahead. if you dont, dont.
- ZenMojo, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2...Person?

Ya smokin' yet? - STBAT25, on 07/20/2009, -1/+3Are babies in Russia given cigarettes instead of pacifiers?
- ZenMojo, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2You'd think. But plenty of African countries are stable. It's not one big warzone like Darfur, Sudan. Hell, most people can't even name 50 African countries, let alone keep track of their current sociopolitical status, so they should stop acting like experts and either do the research or just step back and walk away.
That said, it's possible for penetration into one country's market where people aren't starving to death but where there hasn't been the decades and decades of legislative battling against the tobacco industry like there has been in the United States. We take for granted a lot of things in this country that were nothing short of corporate wars on people that are still being fought.
Africa's a market with a lot of very young governments that haven't had these issues yet, so tobacco just sees it as an easy way to get out ahead of public opinion and public health awareness in places without Surgeon Generals or NIHs or CDCs. - ledzep19752000, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Native cigarettes rule!
http://www.threefeatherstobacco.com/shop/?shop=1&a ... - emomakesmecry, on 07/20/2009, -1/+3Being a smoker for 6 years, I've smoked all the big brands and have never been a big fan of them. Buying cigs from the reservations is where it's at. Texas Republic, Skydancer, etc. are all much better than Philip Morris' chemical-filled rubbish and much cheaper too.
- Amadeus2490, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Not as yucky as you.
- deadasdisco, on 07/21/2009, -1/+2@amadeus : ok. well when you get alzheimer's, smoke all you want.
and @bagelmaster : does it really make you feel good? maybe when you first start smoking, but soon that "high" goes away. and by the way that "high" is oxygen deprivation. most (all) smokers i know wish they had never started, including myself. - Verytastycheese, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1WTF is with these barely legible infographics?! Does anyone have a higher res link?
- sh1tman, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1M'kay.
- ChromaVita, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Considering the fact that there are only 53 countries in Africa, is it really that odd that most people can't name 50 African countries? We have enough trouble with people naming 2 countries in North America.
- isuisorisuaint, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3wat
- Samohtneas, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3You will never stop me from having my cigars, dammit. Go ahead and take the cigarettes though. Nasty garbage filled with chemicals and wrapped in toilet paper.

- deadasdisco, on 07/20/2009, -5/+6you got tricked into becoming addicted to nicotine, and you breathe disgusting smoke into your lungs to feed that addiction. do it all you want, but one day (hopefully before something bad happens) you will realize this.
i am going to get dugg down by all the smokers in denial, but i speak the truth. there are no positives to smoking. none. any that you think exist is simply an illusion. - mHtt, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1I quit smoking last month, cold turkey too. Haven't even thought of having one since. The easiest part: not buying them.
- andyroo316, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3On the flipside, they're being forced out by a nanny state where regular people aren't being given the choice of whether to say no or not. It's not like they're like "Okay, who can we make addicted next?", so cut that rhetoric.
In a couple of hundred years, the tobacco problems in 'the West' will be forgotten, as no-one's addicted anymore, and then they'll be untaxed again, ready for our descendants to get addicted all over again.
If this happens, it'll just be one big circle. Just let them be sold just as anything else is, but just educate people of the dangers. Then no-one will forget the risks. - Hetman, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1Probably.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1well played sir.
- bagelmaster, on 07/20/2009, -2/+3The positives to smoking are: it makes you feel good (get a slight high off the nicotine), keeps you awake when driving or pulling an all-nighter, goes great with beer, gives people who are self-conscious about their hands something to do with them when talking to people. These are just positives from my personal experience. I don't smoke anymore because I wanted to live a healthier life-style and was tired of not being able to run half a mile without hacking a lung up, but if other people want to smoke then more power to them. Second hand smoke does not bother me at all and only really bothers self-righteous pricks on the freedom-killing warpath.
PS I am not in anyway saying smoking is good for you. I am just saying there are some positives to it, just like every drug and/or additive substance. People don't continue doing it just for the hell of it in the beginning before they're addicted fully. - huntermcwhite, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1a rich person, or soon-to-be rich person
- aadautech, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0Tobacco causes 87 percent of lung cancer deaths and has been strongly linked to cancers of the esophagus, bladder, pancreas, stomach, colon, cervix, liver, and kidney. If current patterns continue, 25 million Americans alive today, including 5 million children, will die prematurely from smoking related diseases.
http://blog.aadautech.com/ - Amadeus2490, on 07/21/2009, -1/+1I don't smoke. . .i'm simply playing Devil's Advocate here.
Just because you hate smoking, that doesn't mean that all people do. There are a lot of things I don't like, but I figure that isn't up to me to tell people - millions of strangers - how to live their private lives. The fact of the matter is that you're rattling off your mouth and saying ***** that isn't even true, and then when a reputable counterpoint is brought up against you, you backpedal. The ONLY reason? Because you hate smoking.
Don't tell other people how to live their lives, and they won't tell you how to live yours. - lylemackinnon, on 07/21/2009, -1/+1cooking hash tokes with smokes got me on em !
