- RevinKoze, on 11/21/2008, -2/+21Why can't I just enjoy a ***** cigarette without being harassed like I rape little children? It's a life decision I made. Am I a bad person for it? I think not. So just leave me the ***** alone.
- coondog35, on 11/21/2008, -0/+14weed?
- sammybond455, on 11/20/2008, -1/+12Move to Kentucky. It's the state with the lowest cigarette price per pack: $3.01!
- deltron, on 11/21/2008, -0/+10...I still shove snuff up my nose. O_o
- spaceman84, on 11/21/2008, -1/+11Cannabis, on the other hand, is non-addictive and has anti-cancer properties.
- RevinKoze, on 11/21/2008, -1/+9Vaporizer....Where's your excuse now, bitch?
- DamnMan, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8The only thing that annoys me more than righteous non-smokers are righteous ex-smokers.
As I read these comments I just have to say... ***** you. ***** you. ***** you. Your cool. ***** you. I'm out. - AmyWhere, on 11/21/2008, -1/+6the tax is supposedly punitive, but it's just another revenue stream the govt doesn't want to lose. it's regressive.
- mllawso, on 11/21/2008, -1/+6We all die. I'm willing to trade a few years of my life to squeeze more enjoyment into the remaining ones.
- Asianwaste, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Smoking didn't kill your mom. She did it to herself. She's not some victim of circumstance, bottom line she just lacked the self control and killed herself in the end.
You're not going to go out and blame a kitchen knife because you plunged it into your gut. - mllawso, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4I had a buddy who smoked too much weed, every day.
The doctor asked him if he smoked, and he said no.
The doctor then told him the sounds from his lungs said otherwise, and to cut back on whatever he "wasn't smoking"
Mind you, one he quit he recovered pretty fast; but weed isn't completely harmless. - smileyouredead, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Buy a gas mask and not only will you not have to worry about that cancer smoke but you could be safe from biological, chemical and radiological warfare. yippee!
- chrisfarley, on 11/21/2008, -1/+4How 'bout a toothpick.
- FrancoisLyon, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3i heard today that something like 20% of americans still smoke. that's down from a third, but still a lot!
- meandnips, on 11/21/2008, -2/+5I have a lot of sympathy for people who try to quit. I've seen friends try to quit for years and not have much success, even if the face of CPD and such. It's a vile habit and I hope it's gone before a 100 years from now. Anyone who has seen a loved one die from lung cancer (and yes, I know not all lung cancer is caused by smoking) will agree with me.
- MrBogard, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3I smoke pot, and don't know why you're being buried. This is a fact folks: smoke is unhealthy in every form. With that said, legalize it~Prohibition is retarded!
@derek
I never liked those parts anyway. - GregIsLegend, on 11/21/2008, -2/+5We all know it's bad. I enjoy an occasional cigarette when offered, I've never bought my own pack though.
Smoking IS cool by the way. Case in point.
http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/6530/89321ta4.p ... - Brian994, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3You don't need to smoke cannabis to receive it's therapeutic affects. You can use a tincture or you could make butter or tea. There are many different ways to consume cannabis.
- roddack, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Sure lets not talk about how the FDA has no constitutional authority to even exist. Or the fact that it is my ***** body and I can put what ever I ***** want into without big brother trying to look over my shoulder.
- Dujenwook, on 11/21/2008, -2/+5Blah. I hate that statistic. It is so obviously *****. Maybe no one ever died from one pot-smoking cession, but the same could be said of tobacco. I promise you though, that if you smoke say 4 or more joints a day for 30 years you WILL end up with lung cancer. It is a FACT that marijuana smoke contains more tar and carcinogens than tobacco smoke.

If you don't buy any of that, I'll refer you to Eazy-E: "I leave a trail of stiffs when I'm high off of spliffs." So he, at least, throws your stat off just a little. ;) - mr5150, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Quit smoking about 3 years ago and every day since have thought about them like a long lost friend. I have had many ***** things in my time, bad meals, ***** drinks, useless ***** but i must confess i never had a bad smoke...heck they were all great but that's all in the past.
Damn it's a hard vice to ditch full, it taunts me daily
i read once David Bowie said it was easier to ditch drugs than cigarettes.....doesn't surprise though. - casbar, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Holy crap! I didn't know it was Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Awareness month already. I'm going to get a cake and smoke it.
- PauliAnna, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3these days it's almost always the villains who smoke.
- austin006, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2I have a vaporizor, it's pretty good.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3In America first they came for the smokers, and I said nothing because I wasn't a smoker;
And then they came for the trans fats and I said nothing because I didn't eat trans fats;
And then they came for the SUVs and the V8s and I said nothing because I ride a bike;
And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up. - PerkyGoth2, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2i think new york is close to $8 a pack. it seems like it penalizes the poor, who smoke at disproportionately high rates, but if it actually works to raise prices, do it!
- rokklobster, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Those are still used! http://www.livescience.com/health/050419_maggots.h ...
- MrFancy, on 11/21/2008, -3/+5the thing about adding up the dollar costs of smoking is that smokers tend to die younger and faster than other types of chronic illness, and might even represent a net savings in dollars.
- GoTeamScotch, on 11/21/2008, -2/+4If you MUST smoke something, switch to mary-J. There's a slight chance of bronchitis in some users, but its unproven.
annual deaths/year: 0 - roddack, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2I wait for the day the government ends up taxing themselves out of revenue I don't know if I will be ever to stop laughing.
- HamstaMan, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Maybe we could bring back the white wigs.
- salmatime, on 11/20/2008, -3/+5I'm staying far away from Kentucky!
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2read a newspaper sometime, its already happening. guess what when the FDA regulates the good ***** out of cigarettes they are going to be trucked over the border from mexico by the *****
- StigNordas, on 11/20/2008, -7/+9In another 200 years they'll look back at smoking and wonder "WTF we were thinking?" It's like us looking at 18th century gentlemen who constantly shoved snuff up their noses.
- MetalCharms, on 11/21/2008, -1/+3Was gonna digg you up for the comment but wanted to digg you down for the animu.
I left you alone, this time. - Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1What does that even mean? I smoke and have never missed a day of work for being sick from ANYTHING in years. My productivity hasn't decreased at all (if anything, I am more awake in the morning than my coworkers from the hit of stimulants I get, and thus more productive).
- Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1I'd rather see fast food gone 100 years from now, before smoking. America has a huge obesity problem, yet we focus our efforts on smoking.
In Asia, where smoking is VERY common, they have the highest life expectancy in the world, and obesity is at an all time low.
So yeah, heart disease from obesity is worse than smoking. Not that smoking is healthy, but I'd like to see us get our priorities straight. - Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1I think we know by now that smoking is bad for us.
So is fast food, drinking, not getting enough sleep, getting too much sleep, over-extended exposure to . Yet people do all them. Let us enjoy our vices. I eat healthier than most any people, and only smoke or drink in rare social situations. Sure they are bad for me, but I bet I am in better health than the guy who shoves a big mac down his mouth everyday and lectures me on the dangers of smoking. - Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Excuse me, I was just finishing a cigarette. Though yes, that particular one is now dead, just a filter left.
- Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1one cigarette won't give you cancer nor make you addicted (Unless you have a VERY addictive personality) if you need one for stress reasons. It's possible to enjoy an occasional cigarette without getting addicted. Just make sure you don't do it habitually or on a regular basis (like, if you condition yourself to smoke everytime you have a big meal, you'll probably get addicted to it in that context). Moderation is the key to everything.
Though you probably won't enjoy your first or second time smoking very much anyway - truck87bp, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1Like the Michigan Tax hike on Cigg's that was used to beautify the city of Detroit when the Superbowl came to town to the tune of $280 Million. Jennifer M. Granholm, now sitting on team with Obama.
She has taxed the ***** out of Michigan. The money didn't go to health care so you do-gooders can take a flying leap with your *****. You never seem to know what your talking about.
BTW: Ciggs are bad for you. - Dymphna, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1I miss my 150 yen ($1.40-$1.50) Seven Stars from Japan, those are delicious too. Bought cartons when I came back, but they are used up now :(
- Brian994, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1That seems dangerous as well.
- Isidore, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1Propethic
I was just pointing out the similarities between the techniques used by tobacco companies in the 60,70,80s which delayed action against tobacco advertising and led to may extra deaths and the same techniques used by some oil companies today in denying any connection between their activities and climate change.
BTW, I don't like South Park. - Brian994, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1*is a smoker
- roddack, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1I swear I just saw an episode ou house where a tooth pick got swallowed and tore the insides of a guy up.
- etx313, on 11/22/2008, -0/+1I quit a month ago, So far so good. And I feel great!
- Dujenwook, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1@mallawso
We all die, this is true. Have fun spending the last 10 years of your life going through it. - kevinisms, on 11/21/2008, -0/+1So where did these numbers come from? How were they able to estimate the statistics? Sure smoking isn't the best for you, but I sure would like to see where the numbers came from.
