Of course they are, when they can't find any other reason so they resort to psychological. Speaking from experience it's very annoying to have a doctor telling you that the problem is "all in your head" and you should simply "stop having the problem". I couldn't swallow food properly and after a ton of medical tests this is the conclusion several doctors came to. Turns out the problem is achalasia and it is in fact, NOT all in my head.
In any case, get a second opinion, and a third, and fourth. With symptoms so strange chances are all these doctors will come up with a different conclusion and it's good to hear them all before one doctor begins cutting you open or giving you pills that could change your life. It's obvious that she is not sick with a cold and her nose can't be plugged up, so why is her body initiating a sneeze reflex? Her nervous system and brain need to be examined to see why signals are being sent to cause this reaction. I hate 'psychology' as much as the next guy but I think finding a psychological reason is a very valid course.

My immediate reaction to seeing "sneezing" was that she wasn't sneezing it was more of a tic. Nothing even comes out of her nose. That's pretty much what the Doctor on the Today Show also said, time to locate somebody to help her with what appears to be some type of tic.

- MeesterJeem, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2Ever notice numbers seem to go higher whenever a story starts spreading? I saw "Sneezy Girl" on TV being interviewed and the number was about "2000 times a day"... through out the day the numbers kept getting bigger ... and now it's 12,000 times a day.
Now she does sneeze a lot... about once every every 5 to 10 seconds. She doesn't sneeze when she's sleeping... do the math. 14,400 seconds in a day... if she sneezed 12,000 times a day (excluding sleep), she'd be sneezing at *least* every second... and either die from lack of breathing or hyperventilating or just her ribs cracking from so much stress...whatever.

I was making an assumption that her doctor acted in the same way I saw several of mine act when faced with a problem they couldn't otherwise solve which is throw up the hands and say, "well it must be psychological".
I admit though, I am jaded by the system. These doctors don't always know the answer and if you have a problem that's rare theres a decent chance they may end up hurting you or making the problem worse.
