- FlyingCaveman, on 06/21/2009, -3/+23And don't forget to quit banging hookers and porn stars without a condom.
- MrCrissypoo, on 06/22/2009, -0/+8I saw the -1 digg before reading the second line.
Dugg. For stupid funny joke. - dafragsta, on 06/23/2009, -2/+10... basically, you can treat AIDS with lots and lots of cash.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -3/+9Interesting.
- dukeeeey, on 06/22/2009, -2/+7wow yet another cure for aids
- dagamer34, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4No. Retroviral refers to an RNA virus that needs to be converted to DNA while in T cells (part of the immune system). Thus the "anti" part of that stops such a conversion.
- LukeBeaumont, on 06/23/2009, -1/+5Because HIV is only spread by sex.
- omgukk, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Large amounts of cash.
- portnoy, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3I rather wish I'd grabbed one of those store advertising boards for AYDS diet candies. Remember the slogan, "Lose weight fast with Ayds!".
- phatboye, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3dugg for Digg's HIV-AIDS cure of the week.
- dacris, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3That's because they NEED MONEY! It's always about MONEY!!
That's all they ever care about, they want MORE FOR THEMSELVES and LESS for everyone else!
The table is tilted folks. The game is rigged.
But nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.
Good honest hard-working Americans, white collar blue collar don't care what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working Americans, continue to elect these RICH ***** who don't GIVE A ***** about them. THEY DON'T GIVE A ***** ABOUT YOU! AT ALL! AT ALL!!!
George Carlin was a prophet.
The people of IRAN have BALLS! The people of the USA are PANSIES!
I'm done. - tobsterius, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3Should be 'Highly Active Anti Retroviral Treatments'
- xjeffx, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3It's more statistically true than you'd like to believe. About 48% of HIV/AIDS cases in the USA are gay men.
Seeing as gay men make up less than 5% of the actual population, it's a pretty accurate stereotype. - elislider, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3HIV is classified as a 'retrovirus' so this would be anti-retrovirus treatment.
A retrovirus is RNA and part of its infection process involves integrating into the DNA production system of cells. The cell enzymes take in the HIV RNA and produce new DNA containing the viral information from HIV. The host (person) DNA now contains HIV and all further cells of that type/area have the virus and it spreads from there - JMDMD, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3@mikbunn
No. HIV is a retrovirus. That means it is an RNA virus that utilizes reverse transcriptase to create DNA inside the host cell which can subsequently be integrated into the genome of the host. Thus, "anti-retroviral" therapy seeks to interfere with the life-cycle of the retrovirus at virtually every step of the process. In a best case, it is still not enough to eradicate the virus completely, but successfully treated patients will have nearly undetectable viral loads. - manlyandy, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Because they are just that active.
- Ghstfce, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Interesting yes. But doesn't it seem any time we refer to something as "The War on _______ " it just turns out to be a complete and udder failure? Let's review:
"The War on Terror" : Speaks for itself. Haven't had an attack in 8 years but HOW DARE YOU try to bring that Snapple on board our planes! TERRORIST!
"The War on Drugs" : The government cannot stop it but will not try to regulate it.
"The War on Poverty" : Have you SEEN our economy lately? - inactive, on 06/23/2009, -3/+5Doctor : "We cured your AIDS but as a result we've given you cancer".
I read this once.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/3463249/Aids-Cure
Where's the research into that as it sounds alot more promising. - mikbunn, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2Why is "Highly Active Retroviral Treatments" abbreviated 'HAART'?
- TheBifman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2You forgot to mention 4. not ***** people who have AIDS and 5. not shooting up with used needles
- Ishiguro, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Bleach works every time.
- portnoy, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3Aren't all these people that are living longer and longer with Aids also able to continue to infect others?
- mohsenxp, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3Can't wait for it to be cured so we can all go back to condom-free hooker bangin! The good ol' days.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2deleted text.
- mikbunn, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Wouldn't "anti-retroviral" be a double-negative?
- purplesawdust, on 06/21/2009, -3/+4I thought you could kill HIV-AIDS with conventional weapons.
- mrpunman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1How is zombbie formed?
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2The only people who are allowed to that claim that their products are "cures" are pharmaceutical companies, no one else. Clearly they are not because if we had cures... well they're still in business aren't they. Just common sense really.
- mikemehak, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1I think that was it.
a machine that automatically located and vaprorizes gays, because they all carry aids.
I know this is true, it's just a fun stereotype to mock. - JMDMD, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1"for example 90% of us are infected with JC virus ... but who has any symptoms?"
AIDS patients (mostly, but you can see it in other immunosuppressed patients like organ transplant recipients). See "progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy." Not good. - ASSASSYN360, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1I want to play hide and seek.
- tidal, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1NICE
- FuzzyBear, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Wonderful, a cure for a virus that supposedly will destroy your immune system leaving you vulnerable to dying from just about anything... with a treatment that is guaranteed to destroy your immune sytem so that you can be vulnerable to dying from just about anything.
I guess they plan to starve HIV to death. - JustinNoland, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Digg: Curing AIDS since 2004.
- mohsenxp, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1It's the most cured virus of all don't you know!
- tidal, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1This new weapon has been brought to you by the Umbrella Corporation. Thank you and have a nice day.
- SystemicThought, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Seriously, isn't this like the 20th HIV/AIDS cure in the last year? So... how come we're not all cured yet.
- lbraun, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1For news on real HIV/Aids breakthroughs take a look at http://www.infectiousdiseasenews.com They have some really great articles.
- mohsenxp, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1They are funny.
- tgc1, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1At the rate we're curing Cancer and AIDS and other ailments humans face, we'll all be immortal by next year!
"Good news everyone." (<---I know you'll read that in his voice!) - xjeffx, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Funny, that was what I said right before I caught AIDS.
- xjeffx, on 06/23/2009, -2/+3Stop sleeping with dudes?
- Respec7, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1or a bullet
- kingrood, on 06/29/2009, -0/+0will get immune for it (playing hide-and-seek in the system cells)maybe it grows in the cells and the body makes al lot of cells in a day, cancer cells don't dy with out treatment
- Rosiroo, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0No, not at all. People on treatment are far less infectious and it's even been stated by some HIV specialists that people on highly effective treatment cannot transmit HIV to others through certain routes.

Read up on treatment as prevention.
Also, people aren't living with AIDS, they're living with HIV. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS and a person on successful treatment will never develop AIDS. - Overclocker2600, on 06/23/2009, -2/+2Yet another study that nobody will ever see come true.... How lame...
- nullcodes, on 06/23/2009, -2/+2AIDS has gone from a sure death sentence to nearly total treatability/control in under 30 years of it being discovered.
So piss off on your claim that no progress gets made.
Ask Magic Johnson, who was diagnosed with it nearly 20 years ago. - Overclocker2600, on 06/23/2009, -0/+0Like u said guy....Magic Johnson 20 years ago and we still haven't found a cure...Its called making a profit dude..I would be surprised if they actually do make a cure, and even if they do, it would cost alooooot of money so common people cannot buy it..Good job Guy...
- yocouchdigga, on 06/23/2009, -1/+1now I'm curious. you may as well do it now that you're being buried...
