- Zanrook, on 07/08/2009, -3/+24I drink two large cups of coffee every single day and I can't remember anything I did the other day.
- Xaevier, on 07/08/2009, -1/+19"Hey Bob we have a few people who seem to be doing better with their illness than the control group!"
"What did they do yesterday? If we don't get some progress here we will lose our funding!"
"Well I saw a couple of em drinking coffee?"
"GENIUS!" - soulonfire928, on 07/08/2009, -0/+15Digg curing yet another disease.
- ThatsNotPudding, on 07/08/2009, -2/+17"This just in - coffee is bad for you"..."This just in - coffee is good for you"... MAKE UP YOUR MIND, MISTER DOCTOR PERSON.
- DickyT83, on 07/08/2009, -1/+13Article and advertising paid for by Starbucks.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+11this isnt yahoo answers
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+10haha this guy is awesome
- dazparkour, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Wait what?
- jdh24, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Sometimes I think that if I actually listened to all this 'research' tripe some scientists put out, I'd be the unhealthiest person alive.
- hypogenic, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Yeah, how about those $1000.- that you borrowed from me last night?
Plus you scratched my car, see? Repair costs 300 bucks, cough up. - jonosss, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5This is mostly garbage, however, there is a biological basis for these claims.
Alzheimer's is often associated with diminished acytelcholine in the basal forebrain. Acytelcholine is the primary neurotransmitter associated with caffeine. Therefore, a claim that restoring acytelcholine levels alleviates the disease isn't entirely baseless. - Sillywombat, on 07/08/2009, -4/+8Well done! You have won the 500th "coffee and alzheimer's" article post. You win!
- freedomischaos, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4Dugg you down cause I didn't get a chance to get mine.
No offense, just basic logic at work here. - andrihb, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4I'll try to remember that.
- DaNuKaSAN, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4Where's my nobel peace prize?
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2This is in no way incentive enough for me to start drinking coffee.
Caffeine dependence, coffee breath, and stained teeth are nothing I desire. - vilago, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2so then it wouldnt just be the coffee it would be the caffeine. so those 500 empty cans of redbull in my girlfriends car actually went somewhere useful?
- imkidred, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2How about 'caffeine every day...' since it's the caffeine and not the coffee that is relevant? I drink coke (diet) everyday and get the same amount of caffeine. Buried for not being creatively expansive with the title.
- thebudda, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Really? My father drank 2-3 cups every morning for years and drank (caffeinated) iced tea the remainder of the time and was diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer's several years ago when he was only 53.
Sorry, not buying this. - DaNuKaSAN, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Did I have a cup of coffee recently?
- rixbad, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Yes coffee every day. I spent most of the morning trying to remember where I left my cup.
- jonosss, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2The article is suspect since it never even mentions the word acytelcholine. However, the treatment is referred to as caffeine not coffee throughout the article. So according to them if you were 80 years old, red bull would do the trick.
- vilago, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2water?
- TrouserJazz, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2True that. It must work because I can remember all 500 of them I've seen in the past couple of years. Now, let's see a regurgitation of the anti-oxidants in green tea story next.
- LucidHawk, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1And why the hell didn't they figure this out 50 years ago?
I have to draw one of two conclusions it doesn't work nearly as well as these articles claim or science and humanity in general are epic fail. Coffee is the most common drink on the planet! - jameson5, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1My grandmother drank a lot of coffee regularly her whole life and continued to drink it when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I guess it's impossible to know if it helped just a little bit, but it sure didn't make any noticeable difference, let alone stop or reverse the disease.
- DaddoCFL, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2"I drink two large cups of coffee every single day and I can't remember anything I did the other day." -- Then how do you know that you drink two Large cups a day?
- shrontzy, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1how is coffee made?
- wassim2k, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Really? http://digg.com/health/Coffee_May_Reverse_Alzheime ...
- Corinnefloyd, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Finally some kind words about coffee. I'll remember to enjoy my next cup just a little more.
- DaNuKaSAN, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1'Wait no...I think it was double fudge chocolate cake with cherries...'
'EVEN BETTER!' - twogirlz, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Dugg you up ;)
- Zaxcomp, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1How do you know? You didn't get to see what happened if she did not drink coffee at all.
- Vodd9, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Caffeine actually makes me smell.
- djmeltdown, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1buried as fail. my father-in-law drinks coffee by the daily gallon, he still can't remember *****.
- hendrixlives64, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1*It also ensures that i will be making at least 2 trips to the bathroom every morning with diarrhea...
- BurgGuy, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1If you did, you would remember.
- publiclurker, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Try straight drip coffee and not Irish next time.
- jameson5, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Exactly - that's why I say it's impossible to know if it helped or not. All I know is, the end result was certainly the same.
- mparker21311, on 07/08/2009, -2/+2I stopped consuming caffeine.
I don't want to be on a government sponsored addiction. - Mentat44, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0Why do Indians keep spamming Digg every day?
- imake1tgirl, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0I work in the dementia field, as a nurse. Just about all my patients drink coffee in the morning and in the evening. If that was true, I'd be out of a job.
- steveolenski, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0This is truly a great story... especially for those of us who consume 2, 3...15 cups a day. Not that I'm jjjjiiiittteerryyyy or anything
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0So it is caffeine not coffee? I don't drink coffee but I will up my soda intake to get enough in. At least then I will remember why I am morbidly obese with the increased sugar intake.
- frosted, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0Just another drug propaganda piece. What is it with the druggies? Can't they just say "We are addicts because we want to be" ? Always coming up with fake reasons for doing things.
- WMurderface, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1Or a Jet Alert a day. Generally cheaper and easier.
- gkiltz, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, why then doesn't a banana a day keep the politician away?
- abeewon, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0i hate the term "a coffee"
- DeltaTango, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1Anecdotal evidence suggests otherwise. I work part-time in a home for the elderly, and the one who always hogs the coffee is the youngest person with Alzheimer's.
