- jwoelich, on 03/25/2009, -2/+28They were terminally ill. Not like this guy as going around randomly killing people. They may very well have asked him to do it.
- LTAnderson, on 03/25/2009, -1/+18Am I the only one that thinks he probably did the patients a favor? That maybe, his actions are justifiable. If I know I am going to die, and I am going to be in an unbelievable amount of pain for the last 3 months of my life, I would want him as my nurse.
- RedAbyss, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7I believe the correct term for it is Murse.
- Narn, on 03/25/2009, -1/+8I agree. It is very possible that this was on part the with of the patients. There is nothing wrong with having the right to die with dignity. It's just not accepted here. A person is 'spose to be in terrible suffering and agony and then die that's the American way. Probably the only way to get in to heaven too...
- zyl0x, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Or maybe he's going around killing these people because it seems reasonable that they may have asked for it.
- snoop396, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4his dark passenger took care of it
- wpc33, on 03/25/2009, -1/+5Remember the nurse that tried to kill Dexter's dad?
- Ne007, on 03/25/2009, -1/+4You are a dumbass.
- krellor, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3Unless they asked to die, he had no right to kill them at all. I have good health insurance, no lifetime cap, etc... If I get terminally ill I will use the insurance that I have paid into to keep myself alive as long as I can/continue to want to. But even if a person doesn't have insurance, that doesn't mean you can just kill them. Seriously, messed up.
- keithwired, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3Since the only patients this occurred to were terminally ill patients, it's pretty safe to assume they probably asked for him to do it.
- ManyAsOne, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Having done some previous reading on medical serial killers, that's more or less how they tend to get away with it for as long as they do. If the only people who are dying on a guy's watch are seriously or terminally ill, the fact that the death rate is unusually high can go unnoticed for quite a while. Often, they don't get caught until someone notices something fishy with the pharmacy records or someone dies who wouldn't plausibly be expected to.
- Kalchus, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3I'm getting really annoyed with our society's skew toward a life of intractable pain versus a peaceful death. As a second year osteopathic medical student, the idea that a patient's quality of life should be paramount to their treatment has become gospel. You see these poor souls in your care who suffer day in and day out, often without the support of friends or family... you get to know them and care about them despite your best attempts at maintaining the distance required for an "appropriate" doctor-patient relationship. And when they beg you to end their life peacefully, it's really hard to look them in the eye and effectively tell them "No, you have to continue suffering until you die."
Assuming this nurse was acting in line with the patients' wishes, I applaud him. - Teh1337Pirate, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3if they were terminally ill and asked him to help them end it on their own terms I really don't see an issue here.
- adorkable81, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3I agree with you but it is still illegal. Patients in their fragile state of mind might make a irrational decision. Closest of kin must approve to pull the plug first.
Patient although can sign DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) waiver - Hcope, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2No, a murse is a Man-Purse.
- CVL4317, on 03/25/2009, -1/+2I personally want to know if the patients request those.
- gordigor, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1wtf?
- Ne007, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1I like Foctors.
- sodade, on 03/25/2009, -3/+4Health professionals are constantly face to face with the insane reality that we spend a huge % of money and effort keeping people alive in their last year of miserable life. As med tech increases, this problem will only get worse. Socialized or not, we are all paying for this BS.
- nykzero, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Murserer. Good song name!
- sodade, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1I agree with you and wasn't trying to justify murder :)
- jackmarlin, on 06/22/2009, -0/+0Well, I guess we have to make sure that our tax money is being used properly.
http://www.dextershoes.org/ - SaladCactusKing, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1Good thing this guy didn't operate in Miami...
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1Really? You need to watch Dr. Giggles.
A mass-murdering doctor!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104139/ - inactive, on 03/25/2009, -1/+1"They may very well have asked him to do it."
This was what first came to mind before I even read the article. Unfortunately this argument would not void punishment. - ManyAsOne, on 03/26/2009, -1/+1While it's not impossible that the victims may have desired death, jumping to the conclusion that this is assisted suicide is a risky proposition at best. Just because a person is terminally ill doesn't neccessarily mean they'd want the process hastened further, and seriously ill people like these are exactly the kind of victims who medical serial killers like to target. Unless there's strong evidence to support the idea that he was following his patient's wishes, this guy should be considered murderous, not merciful.

Army: "He has been deemed not in the path of a tank and has been at work every day."
Navy: "He has been deemed not a ballast risk and has been at work every day."
Marines: "He has been deemed sub-par in his performance review and has been instructed to kill more every day." - adgrou, on 03/25/2009, -6/+4I am afraid of doctors
- Skurt, on 03/25/2009, -9/+069 diggs, one comment and it's front page???
Why when I watch the Discovery type of 'Cop' shows, it's always the Male Nurse that kills everybody?
If I'm in the hospital, I never never never want a male nurse to attend to me. Scary.

What is Digg?
