If you don't drink water, you die. - santaliqueur, on 10/11/2007, -4/+49Drink water? Not me. That's where fish *****.
- santaliqueur, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38Guaranteed? It's one of the most popular movies of all time. Are you 14 or something?
- outgun, on 10/11/2007, -19/+55Article made me thirsty. I'm going to go grab a coke.
- Duffle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+37I drink water because I don't want to go out to the store and buy drinks. It's faster to justs go to the tap and turn it on.
- PoshuBishuBoshu, on 10/11/2007, -3/+34Water? Like out of the toilet?
- elpayo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+28I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+26People need to be told this? Jesus Christ.
- brocej, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21I rarely drink anything other than water.
You probably think I'm exagerating, but I'm not. About 5 years ago I was pretty much addicted to Coke, plus drank lots of squash from concentrate.
At that point I decided what I was doing had to change, and so I gave up all drinks - except water. No tea, no coffee, no soft drinks, no hot chocolate, no fruit juice, no squash.
Now I don't have to think about it. Drinking water is just what I do. Occasionally I will have some alcohol or a coke (maybe once a month), but it just doesn't taste like it used to. In fact it tastes totally different to how I remember it. I'm not saying drinking only water is good or bad, it's just what I do. - rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!

How could we not? Dr. Strangelove!
If anyone hasn't seen Dr. Strangelove yet, take the time to watch it; it is an excellent movie. - cajie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I have been rushed twice to the ER with severe pain.
I mean severe as in I can't ***** move, and it looks like I have a heart attack.
Diagnosis in both cases. Saline drips for 4 hours and a recommendation from the doctor that I drink lots of water. 100% okay after 4 hours.
Yup. Water is important to our health. - Markpdotcom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Add vodka.
- Kelgann, on 10/11/2007, -22/+35We've got to replenish our precious bodily fluids...

- EnterDaMatrix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10MIEN FUHRER!!! I CAN WALK!!!
Greatest movie moment. - brook011, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Another added weight loss effect, that was not highlighted on the article :
Drinking cold water can force a thermal reaction of your body heating up to regulate your temperature. Drink enough cold water in a day and you will burn 70-100 calories a day simply by drinking ice cold water! - Millsee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12IN OTHER NEWS:
Top scientists claim eating is a requirement for survival. - cajie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12NEWSFLASH: Digg has an updated comment system. You can use the REPLY button to respond to a comment.
- DocHoliday22, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12"Water lets your body run at an optimized level" - probably the single best reason. Good article.
- synce, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9It doesn't bother me that people need to be convinced to drink as much as it bothers me there's an entire aisle at the local supermarket dedicated to bottled water. People buy that ***** by the gallons, too.
- DejectedRobot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9All I drink is water or protein shakes with water. Even though I drink a lot of water, I refuse to drink bottled water.
- Nodspy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I drink about 6 12oz glasses of water a day (minimum). My water is from as well with a filter in my fridge. Its quite good but the maker of this list failed to mention the fact that you have to piss a lot.
I know I drink a lot of water but I'm always thirsty. - Rimrose, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I used to drink Coke all the time and then my boyfriend got me started on only water (thats all he drinks besides beer) and now it's only what I drink (besides alcohol, fruit juices occasionally, and milk). I tried a coke and it just tasted nasty, so I stay away from those now. I feel better and more active since stopping the sodas, so water really does help.
- InferiorWang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Coffee is a diuretic, which sucks the water out of your body.
- Philluminati, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5fizzy water is bad for your teeth
- TheMusach, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I love drinking water! I love it because I also love peeing! All the time! Constantly!
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5When we talk about heating water in physics, a calorie is the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 °C. When your bottle of coke says it has 280 "Calories", those are actually Kilocalories: the amount of energy it takes to heat one kilogram of water 1 degree Celsius.
To burn 100 Kilocalories (half a coke) by drinking water, assuming you drink freezing water (0 Celsius) and your body temperature is a little on the high side (37 Celsius), you'd have to drink about 2.5 kg of water -- better part of a gallon. So yes, it's conceivable that you might burn 100 kcal drinking ice water, but really, you'd do better to simply cut a few hundred calories out of your diet. In fact, the biggest benifit to drinking water, when it comes to weightloss, is simply what it replaces. If you drink 4 sodas a day, that's easily 1000 kcal you can cut out of your diet by replacing them with water. The 100 kcal you burn warming that water up to body temperature is just icing on the cake. - ageofinnosence, on 10/11/2007, -8/+13Dr. Strangelove. Zing!
- nedzeve, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9But if you drink too much, you also die. It's all about finding that balance.
- SirTezzy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Why? It's a service. Convenience isn't free.
- banaanvreter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I know you are TRYING to be funny, but beer is actually a diuretic...

- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I've always said Dr. Strangelove and Lawrence of Arabia are my two all time favorite movies ever, ever.
The genius of Dr. Strangelove is that its a comedy based on total nuclear armageddon and it ends with just file footage of nukes going off!! Classic. - Usernamesarefun, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5"Bug Eyed Brad" makes me uneasy about drinking water....
- InferiorWang, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Coke is a diuretic. You'll just get thirstier and thirstier.
- JohnSteel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Go see a doctor.
- santaliqueur, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Bet all the money you want about your 85% of the people you know, because I'll bet just as much that 100% of those people don't know jack ***** about film.
- therethere76, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yea but Brawndo's got what plants crave.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The point is you're supposed to drink water even when you're not thirsty.
- danielman94, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Wanna cookie?
- alextolman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7It doesn't even have electrolytes!
- narc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Is this article a joke ?
Or is it that people in the US really don't drink water ?
Seriously, I don't get it. - BowieX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Water helps you lose weight" =/= "Water CAUSES weight loss"
It's merely a very, very helpful tool in supressing appetite, making you feel full from less food. Also it gives your hands and mouth and body something to do, if you have a habit of just "grazing" on stuff nearby. - Aroundtheworls, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Reason #10 - Drinking lots of water reduces your chances of getting kidney stones.
Passing a kidney stone is like giving birth through the wrong channel. Trust me, you do *not* want to go through that experience. Drink up! - D1lux, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Um, your advice is actually the horrid one. The fact that cold water "slows down digestion" is an old wives tale and has no scientific studies to back it up. By the time water reaches your stomach, it is already warm from traveling through your body... or are you a cold-blooded mutant who can't regulate his own body temperature?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That logic makes no sense. I've been drinking Coke, coffee, beer, and vodka for 10 years now, and I'm in perfect health...so that must be proof to you that everyone should do that, right?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Variety is the best medicine of all.
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It's got Electrolytes!
