- JCEEZ, on 06/09/2009, -0/+20Wow, this was interesting and informative.
Seriously though, why is this still illegal..... - gvoakes, on 06/09/2009, -0/+13Weed rules. It rules!!!
- absolutelytrue, on 06/10/2009, -0/+12Hard to believe that one man is primarily responsible for marijuana being illegal in most countries.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11I hope we can cut through the political ***** and realize all the potential of this amazing "wink wink"..
- primatage, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9it's truly ridiculous that it's still illegal.
- squr3l, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9i hate anslinger
- NikoKun, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9"In 1798, Napoleon declared a total prohibition of hemp after realizing much of the Egyptian lower class were habitual smokers of marijuana."
Jeeze, even in 1798, the only reason Marijuana get's banned, is to control the population that uses it. -_- - BoneStamp, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9The most surprising part of this situation is that it's illegal to grow HEMP in the US!!! But it's fine for stores to sell it; I can walk into Whole Foods or GNC and buy a big can of it that we import from Canada. Canada is smart, this plant has all the benefits of cotton plus it's a much stronger fiber, easier to grow and much more useful as a food product!
- ygeoff419, on 06/09/2009, -0/+8I think it boils down to the whole difference in being drunk and stoned, one is more likely to become violent on booze. Us stoners are a bit more passive...... A pot head with out weed is still a pretty mellow person, an alcoholic with out a drink detoxes and becomes miserable.
I could and probably am way off base hear, but weed smokers are on the bottom of my list of people who threaten or make me fearful, alcoholics are toward the top.....
Still I am with ya, why isn't this legal yet?!?!?! - hbyrne, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Pretty amazing waste of money for such a benign drug.
- Hetman, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4I prefer to keep talking about legalization until it happens. Giving up on legalization would mean that I support illegal gang activity that is actively killing thousands of innocent people in Mexico and the states.
- ssquared22, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3Selling Hemp is illegal but stores can sell it? That's beyond lame.
- Hetman, on 06/10/2009, -0/+2I am actually for legalization of all drugs. It will lower gang violence. News Flash. If I want I can get high any time I want. Even if I get caught with a lawyer at max I would receive probation drugs being legal or illegal does not affect me that much. It does affect minorities who on average are convicted more often and serve longer times in jail. Another thing people are not getting shot in my neighborhood because of the war on drugs. I assume they are not getting shot in your neighborhood also or you would have a different understanding of what life is like in gang run communities.
"On top of that, even if it was legalized, it would be taxed so high, the drug cartels would just grow it, and sell it behind the scenes at a lower but still profitable price."
Just a question for you. How many people do you know that grow there own tobbacco or grow there own hops to produce alcohol? - crummydustbunny, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1The worst part of it is, the government, US GOVERNMENT, holds a patent for the medicinal antioxidant and prophylaxis use of marijuana, with the ability to prosecute anyone growing/infringing on their patent, they really do have the movement at a chokehold.
- kplo, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1Woohoo!!!
- BoneStamp, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1I assume you meant "Growing" instead of "Selling"... and ya, it's really lame. It's illegal to grow but produces derived from it are legal to import for personal use or resale.

That was the best part of the entire article. - DuckSoup1, on 06/10/2009, -4/+1Legalizing Marijuana is not going to cause gang crimes to go down. You guys are just trying to find excuses to legalize pot because you like to get high.
News flash, the drug cartels carry way more than just weed.
On top of that, even if it was legalized, it would be taxed so high, the drug cartels would just grow it, and sell it behind the scenes at a lower but still profitable price.
Ahh what do you care, you potheads don't know what "Logic" is. - DuckSoup1, on 06/10/2009, -8/+1Enough of the pot head articles.
It's not going to be legalized, give up.
