I cant use a razor because too close of a shave messes up my face with razor bumps, and electric shavers never give you that close shave feeling. I had always heard that the straight edge blade is one of the best ways to shave a man but the fear of sliting my own throat when shaving is terrifying. - hypnotadpole, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2The anthrax death makes sense. Lord Carnarvon died in the Continental-Savoy Hotel in Cairo. This led to the story of the "Curse of Tutankhamun", the "Mummy's Curse." His death is most probably explained by blood poisoning (progressing to pneumonia) after accidentally shaving a mosquito bite infected with erysipelas.

If you wash your face first it takes off the layer of (semi-protective) dead skin. Also, learn your face without a mirror, if you know the direction of the way your hairs grow you will have a more effective shave. (go against the direction) I've been doing it since I went to college and I rarely have razor burn, only when the blade is dull or I'm shaving at the sink. Use a multi-razor like Mach 3 or Quatro.
