- Bukowsky, on 05/07/2008, -2/+54This is GREAT NEWS for Medical Marijuana supporters (like myself & most diggers) because when an organization as big as the American College of Physicians endorses Medical Marijuana, it's a very important stepping stone to the reclassification, and possibly decriminalization, of marijuana.
If anyone's interested.. here's a link to the American College of Physicians website - http://www.acponline.org/ - wishninja, on 05/07/2008, -3/+40 While all of the war on drugs is wrong minded this area of drug enforcement (pinning users between the federal government and their medicine) is especially sickening. ***** ***** enforcing these laws should be the ones in prison.
- marcomc2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+33dear god just legalize it already. you want the money, dont you, greedy politicians? we want to be able to smoke marijuana without going to prison. win win. COME ON.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -4/+28The second largest US physicians group understands the positive use of marijuana, but not my mom.
- RudeTurnip, on 05/07/2008, -3/+23Whatever the pharmaceutical industry tells them to say...how do you think they became the largest group?
- UBERMAN5000, on 05/07/2008, -2/+22The "war on drugs" is such a joke.
- Zarokima, on 05/07/2008, -4/+24That's probably because your mom is horribly misinformed by the government, and certainly not as educated on the subject as the physicians in that group.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -3/+22I'd rather find out my kid was smoking pot than drinking alcohol.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -3/+18I'm going to find it hilarious when all physicians support it but politicians still don't. Not actually hilarious... more like frusturating.
- Jaayrod, on 05/07/2008, -1/+11You clearly are lying about using drugs if you actually think pot is worse then coke in any way. Stop trying to impress internet nerds with fake drug experiences and retarded made up opinions.
- Shaman760, on 05/07/2008, -2/+12In other news, San Diego State University students get popped in a major raid.....what's front & center in the press pics? Yep, a bag of the ol' evil MaryJane, a mother whose daughter OD'd last year on god only knows what, and a chancellor stating that "this scourge must be eliminated from society".....
Funny, last I thought, the professors and chancellors were the ones in the 1960's protesting wars, prohibition, etc...etc....
What happened? Who got paid off? - paperclipsNsoup, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the largest would be the AMA (American Medical Association) and they endorsed it too.
Here is the report in full text. Its a bit of heavy reading, but the recommendations include use for:
HIV Wasting
Cancer Cachexia
Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting
Studies Involving THC
Studies Involving Smoked Marijuana
Glaucoma
Multiple Sclerosis, Spasticity, and Extrapyramidal Movement Disorders
http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/13625.htm ... - ashfish, on 05/07/2008, -1/+10Um...I don't think you can really compare the two but ok. And who the ***** wants to be like a god damned yuppie. Also, the choice drug for the homeless here is ice (crystal meth). It's all about the high you want, and it doesn't turn you into a house plant unless you're a lazy bastard already. I like pot because I'm amped up enough as it is naturally I don't need to take coke to increase this feeling. I need something to help me relax at the end of the day. After I relax I feel re-energized to go out and do something. I know people from ALL walks of life who smoke pot, it's not just narrowed down to teenagers, hippies, and the homeless. Yet another lovely generalization.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -3/+11GREAT.. what does the 1st Largest US Physicians Group say about marijuana ?
- Lapdog1123, on 05/07/2008, -4/+12Thats Great! Thank you magical non existent guy in the sky!
- Ymeg, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10I find it odd that the debate is Politicians and "Family" Groups vs. Politicians, Medical community and people who generally like freedom.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Do not *EVER* call the Flying Spaghetti Monster nonexistent!!
Magical is, however, acceptable. - xtinamo, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7To be fair, I'm not sure this group is advocating recreational usage. Your mom is mostly likely objecting to your casual drug use, and not as a form of medical treatment. If you do actually have a medical prescription for marijuana, then I apologize for my assumption and I am genuinely envious of your awesome bud.
- rficwizard, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8I think the phrase is "invisible sky daddy."
- ganjadude4391, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6right but a picture is worth 1000 words.
and what is the picture they use??? A picture of marijuana - crazyjake, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7do they have a research test group i could volunteer for?
- AngelDragon, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7http://tinyurl.com/53edkp
- Zarokima, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5It's safe. It's just a picture.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5My dad was a big hippy and she doesn't want me to be one too.
- m3th0dm4n, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5We don't need to convince. There are plenty of normal and productive potheads in society.
- TROY7, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6Amen.
- dexter411, on 05/08/2008, -1/+5What do a group of physicists know about medicine?!
- Diderotten, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4I looked at your profile. You do nothing all day but troll about trolls. Bingobongony's not even on this thread.
- ganjadude4391, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3exactly they made this study a few months ago.
long story short, the doctors have said nothing wrong with shrooms, LCD, MDMA and marijuana.
Cocaine and heroin are already legal for doctors
so again I might ask... WHY are we spending billions of dollars a year locking up men and women?? - sp4zzj4zz, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4...and then we have the ***** on his soapbox criticizing grammatical errors while simultaneously misspelling the word "Aspirin", and wrongly capitalizing improper nouns. Great going, jackass.
- krnldmp, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4**loud buzzer sound**
Next. - dagamer34, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Nothing wrong in specific uses != nothing wrong if used by everyone.
- Ephemeralnode, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5One Dr. was quoted as saying, "have you ever watched Half Baked on WEED man?"
- paperclipsNsoup, on 05/07/2008, -3/+6I take Medical Marijuana for Glucoma... Haven't got it yet!
- roflganker, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Don't feed the trolls.
- mofw, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3She OD'd on cocaine, BTW. It's been in most of the articles.
- ganjadude4391, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4yeah.... no
sorry, you fail - akula89, on 05/08/2008, -1/+3source? (not doubting, just curious)
- accessviolation, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2I understand the positive use of your mom.
... sorry - inactive, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2the war on drugs is a war on freedom
the war on drugs is a war on minorities
the war on drugs is a war on families
the war on drugs is a war on reason
the war on drugs is a war on religion
the war on drugs is a war on liberty
the war on drugs is a war RUN BY A GOVERNMENT AGAINST ITS OWN CITIZENS FOR CORPORATE PROFIT - RawCoyote, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2I agree, unfortunately this bad joke has put millions in jail unnecessarily.
- BlueStreak69, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4Legalize it. Don't criticize it. Legalize it. Yeah, yeah...
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4oh what do they know. I better consult my priest/politician/hypocrite.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -3/+5you know, saying stupid boilerplate ***** like that pretty marks you as the ***** "dope". don't you have some whippersnappers to chase off your lawn? and pot isn't even called dope anymore except for dinosaurs like you; it means heroin. jump in a coffin already.
- RDinSB, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2It turns out those doctors may have been right after-all... Leeches and maggots are now in use again:
http://www.livescience.com/health/050419_maggots.h ...
and FDA has approved the use of Leeches: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5319129/
From the first link: Nowadays, leeches are routinely used to drain blood from swollen faces, limbs and digits after reconstructive surgery. They are especially useful when reattaching small parts that contain many blood vessels, like ears, where blood clots can easily form in veins that normally drain blood from tissues. If the clots are severe, the tissues can die -- drowned in the body's own fluid -- because they are deprived of oxygen and other vital nutrients. - NikoKun, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4I find it horrifying, that this is what it's come down too.
The people who support this Prohibition, don't deserve the freedom that this country's founders fought so hard to give us.
I find it especially horrifying, that they ignorantly think what they are doing, is good... When every action they take to continue fighting this blind moral battle, only further harms this country's freedom and it's people.
And I'm disgusted that so many people have been lied to, and mislead, by our own government... the damage is irreversable. - ganjadude4391, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4they say the same thing
weed is not harmful - ganjadude4391, on 05/08/2008, -1/+2no one is trying to say that ... ok maybe SOME people are trying to say that..
EDUCATED people are not trying to say that - NikoKun, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2Other way around.
A good majority of doctors groups are now supporting medical cannabis.
Rather than ask a stupid question, while trying to attack medical cannabis, Why don't you just do your damn research... A quick google search would set you straight.
Time to stop denying reality. Cannabis is a very useful medical herb, even when used recreationally. - ganjadude4391, on 05/08/2008, -2/+3you know, that is a side argument and Of couse I want to be able to smoke without getting hassled
HOWEVER we are compassionate towards those who are truly sick and may just live a little longer by taking a hit or 2
I got no way to prove this, but when my cat was 16 years old and about to die, full of tumors and whatnot, she would always run to my room when i sparks a bowl and sit in the line of my smoke, after 3 years of this I moved away to go to school and within 6-8 months she couldnt hang on any longer.
I am not trying to say this proves anythings, I dont have to the doctors have done that for me, I am just giving a story about my life, my cat, and my weed -
