- philliesphan026, on 01/26/2008, -15/+111Alright I'm not going to lie, these lists piss me off sometimes. Because they are always filled with ridiculous things, like these:
3. Sprinkle just-washed sheets and pillowcases with lavender water
8. Clean your bedroom and paint it a soothing sage green.
14. Eat a handful of walnuts before bed.
19. Simmer three to four large lettuce leaves in a cup of water
22. Use eucalyptus for a muscle rub.
24. Keep a notepad at your bedside along with a gentle night-light and pen.
Some of the things on the list are actually not that bad, and clever ideas. But in every single one of these "top x lists for improving y" that are on Digg, they always shove in some *****. - SniperZero, on 01/26/2008, -5/+92Masturbation for digg users :p
- ricky125, on 01/26/2008, -3/+6925. strangle a hobo.
- canewediggit, on 01/26/2008, -4/+55valium + pinot noir. that is all.
- quomen, on 01/26/2008, -3/+48"Munch a banana before bed. It's a great natural source of melatonin, the sleep hormone, as well as tryptophan. The time-honored tradition, of course, is warm milk, also a good source of tryptophan."
Heh.. Munch a banana... Warm milk...I'm just wrong. - helikopter, on 01/26/2008, -0/+42i read somewhere that a good idea is to stay off of the computer before you go to bed. i buy it - if i get on the computer before bed, next thing i know it's 4 hours later, i learned a ton about useless stuff on wikipedia, and i'm not tired anymore.
- ItchyRichy, on 01/26/2008, -5/+4625: Masturbate
- tghd, on 01/26/2008, -1/+41Were you planning on waking up? Cause it might not happen.
- VaporBro, on 01/26/2008, -3/+32Simple! Vaporizer or smoke some weed. And if that doesn't work, drink some Valerian root tea. Those two combined equal a wonderful night's rest; with very vivid lucid dreams.
- psyberjay, on 01/26/2008, -0/+2625. Read text books.
- inactive, on 01/26/2008, -1/+21Ramen!
- swatward, on 01/26/2008, -5/+24eh, not really *****, its just herbal remedies for getting sleep. At least this guy explains why you do those things.
And i actually use #24, if you wake up and realize you need to do something that you don't want to forget. - funkyjunk3, on 01/26/2008, -2/+21I just keep working til I passout. I'll get up when I get up in the morning, shoot up with some caffeine and keep going till I passout again sometime tomorrow evening.
- KaiUno, on 01/26/2008, -3/+21Even if they are scientifically proven? I've know lettuce induces sleep for years. Same about the walnuts. What did you expect? A list of stuff you know to help? Well, then you should write that list. Don't fault folks for adding stuff you didn't know about. It's trying to teach you, not repeat stuff you already know.
- CyberInferno, on 01/26/2008, -1/+17This was going to be my post. Seriously, the best way to a peaceful night's sleep.
- inactive, on 01/26/2008, -0/+15I still have yet to find anything that gives me more than six hours sleep (tops). My one complaint about being on submarines in my early twenties is that it seemed to set my sleep patterns for life.
I literally have tried EVERYTHING to get a "regular" sleep pattern for nearly thirty years now. Go ahead, lay your magic on me if you have it. - casspa, on 01/26/2008, -3/+1818 shots of tequila...to be taken 20min before bedtime
- Aidenf77, on 01/26/2008, -0/+14A single fan on medium next to the bed provides white noise and has always been able to help lull me to sleep.
- freakguy54321, on 01/26/2008, -2/+16college has screwed my circadian rhythm to the point of no return
- Brad324, on 01/26/2008, -3/+16that's because you have no soul

- TheHim, on 01/26/2008, -0/+11:'( G'night fellow diggers...
- iticu, on 01/26/2008, -1/+12You've clearly never had insomnia.
- mozert, on 01/26/2008, -2/+13"TRUST ME I'M A DOCTOR"..
yea man, but you are on digg. - KaiUno, on 01/26/2008, -2/+13Article is talking about healthy sleep, not some drug induced stupor. I never realy felt rested after a thc-induced come. (Nor after an alcohol binge for that matter.)
- gerran, on 01/26/2008, -1/+12The best way to get a good night's sleep:
1. Go to your local gun store and pick up some 40dB foam ear plugs (about $2 for a pack of 20). Wear them to bed. Turn up the volume on your alarm clock. You'll still be able to hear your alarm clock and any fire/smoke alarms. You won't hear anything else. Your ears may hurt when you wake up the first few days until you get used to the pressure from the plugs.
2. Super dark curtains or an eye mask. Keep that room dark. Eye masks can be found at luggage stores for about $10 (eye masks are popular with people that fly a lot).
No sound and a dark room makes for your personal little cocoon. I do this when I absolutely need good sleep. I can't express how effective this is. - inactive, on 01/26/2008, -4/+14Thank you for your service to my beloved country!
- megaloid, on 01/26/2008, -0/+10Just sleep on your side and you'll be fine.
- offsprog, on 01/26/2008, -1/+11Too soon. Wait 22.3 years.
- BedPost, on 01/26/2008, -0/+10That's gotta be healthy.
- Tyrghast, on 01/26/2008, -0/+10i hope you get the most diggs, easily the funniest comment here
- merreborn, on 01/26/2008, -0/+9I don't know about you, but I misread the word "tucking" in the summary, and thought, "Yeah, that usually does it..."
- moletimer, on 01/26/2008, -0/+924 isn't ridiculous, it's very helpful. Good for getting things down and off your mind. If I have an amazing idea in the night I write it don't so I don't forget it, then go back to sleep.
- spineaches, on 01/26/2008, -0/+918 shots of tequila is just gonna make u puke.
- burtflaxton, on 01/26/2008, -0/+9step 1, achieve a lifestyle that allows for it...
- Neiby, on 01/26/2008, -0/+9Sounds to me like you're already asleep and dreaming.
- playaj20008, on 01/26/2008, -4/+13Some cannabis before bed time usually does the trick.
- smileylich, on 01/26/2008, -0/+9I can achieve a deep sleep waiting for the article to load...
- SabrinaHeaven, on 01/26/2008, -1/+9"*#23* Spend 10 minutes journaling the day's events or feelings after ***** yourself in bed."
I was surprised to see this on Digg. - offsprog, on 01/26/2008, -2/+10Haha, I didn't even think about that... but its pretty funny.
- 07sheikh, on 01/26/2008, -7/+15TRUST ME I'M A DOCTOR: all you need is a medium fan, or something of constant noise that blocks out all the other nonsense going on in the house, outside, etc. You can easily fall asleep in a constant noise of some sort but never in pure silence. In pure silence a person tends to think, think about his day....Another thing to make yourself fall asleep fast is put on your ipod in medium volume level and just listen...when you wake up you'll find your battery dead and wonder exactly when you were knocked out! This isn't an advise this is a fact.
- JanYpe, on 01/26/2008, -2/+10A simple "Don't ask, don't tell." would have fit with your username here.
- smarba, on 01/26/2008, -0/+8fap fap fap

- KaiUno, on 01/26/2008, -1/+9You failed to read the entire article.
