- Roulette, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Awesome advice in this article, but unfortunately today's society craves quick fixes. Preventative measures require lifestyle changes, which are something the masses will obviously be unwilling to undertake even if it is PROVEN to help them live longer, happier lives. It's blindingly obviously what the cause of obesity is for example, yet over 60% of Americans are obese nevertheless. Good luck educating a mass lazy population on how to prevent cancer, let alone getting them to actually change their life styles.

Two activities that I thouroughly enjoy ;) - hehe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Obese or not, everybody has some risk of cancer. The chemicals we use today, our heredity, and other factors play into it. This should have been titled 10 Ways to LOWER Your Odds of Getting Cancer.
- SecretSnack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The above comment is not meant to trivialize cancer in any way, just all our hysteria and superstition.

Speak for yourself; we're not all alarmists. (Did you ever think FEAR of cancer is more taxing on life than cancer itself?) - stooma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"if you give up the fags today, within 15 years your lung cancer risk will drop to almost pre-smoking lows."
Actually it is your risk of heart disease that normalizes over 15 years. You cancer risk stays the same. Bottom line... smoking is VERY bad for you. - btipling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2FTA "DON'T panic, you can protect yourself and your family from cancer by making simple changes to your lifestyle."
What a bunch of hogwash. You cannot protect yourself from cancer 100% You can't 'cancer proof' your life. You can reduce risk, but it doesn't mean you wont get cancer. Reported as innacurate.. - Scottamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This seems like a generic list of "stay healthy" tips. All of which are good albeit pretty obvious (don't smoke? no *****. thanks for the tip). But I am more concearned about environmental and industrial issues which this article does nothing to point out. Should I stay away from power lines? What plastics should I avoid? What about household pesticides? Cell phones? Sitting too close to the TV? Cities or regions with a higher or lower incidence of cancer? Let's see useful info for a change.

Slip on a shirt...Slop on sunscreen...and Slap on a hat
It's was a health campaign that started about 25 years ago for protecting yourself from skin cancer. - philz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Masturbation is a good thing - it's sex with someone you love.
--Woody Allen - Bobski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, I'm not going to excuse obesity, but I'd much rather end it as the saying goes, "sliding in sideways with a chocolate bar in one hand and a martini in the other yelling 'WooHoo! What a ride!'" than linger on for a hundred years being a burden to everyone, including myself.
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Most people aren't aware of this, but there is home remedy for cancer ... vitamin C.
It has been proven in numerous studies to fight cancer, there is one caveat... you have to take it intraveneously. There was some studies that debunked this (sort-of), however these studies that supposedly debunked this used vitamin C taken orally, which misses the whole 'you need to do this intraveneously' thing.
why intraveneously? well, because when you take vitamins orally your body (doing what it should) only takes what it needs and then the rest is passed through your system. You can only take so much vitC orally before you reach a 'saturation point' where your body doesn't feel that it needs to hold anymore.
when you take it through an IV, the saturation point is bypassed and you get tons and tons more of this stuff into your bloodstream than your body would normally allow and these high doses of vitamin C will activley fight off the cancer in your body. obviously this is not going to be a complete cure, because a lot of this will probably depend on your body, immune system, how far along your cancer is, etc.
now, get on google and learn some more if you're interested. - mikkaworkscom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Going organic might be a good thing too.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0And, if you want to see if all this works (and it does), test your pH. Alkaline is good, acid is bad.
Test strips are available everywhere and are very inexpensive. - rypaintD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"if you give up the fags today, within 15 years your lung cancer risk will drop to almost pre-smoking lows."
