- m00n1, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9A have a fear of walking on things you can see through. Seriously. It's not crippling, but if I see a glass floor, or even a grill in the ground, I either avoid it or have to mentally compose myself to walk over it.
Anyone know if this has a name? - lemur, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6I can never read these articles because I'm just too frightened of discovering a phobia I might have.
- yerdaddy, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6I don't know, but you might have something in common with cattle.

- Inaktivist, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4*****, I think I have the fear of the number 4. I'm a quarter Japanese on my Mom's side and I remember her telling me when I was younger that four is considered unlucky. Ever since then I try to avoid the number as much as I can. For awhile I wouldn't put four ice cubes in a glass, I wouldn't make four eggs, I wouldn't cut an apple into four slices... I guess it mostly had to do with food for some reason. In all other respects, I'm a very rational and scientific person and I always knew that this phobia was completely idiotic but I couldn't help feeling like something bad might happen if I didn't avoid the number. I've gotten a lot better about it but I still think about it whenever I do something that involves fours. Pretty dumb, right?
- vindi18, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4Hmm... I know a few people at the office with Ablutophobia...
- Nature1, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3I genuinely have emetophobia... I am terrified of vomiting, and when I got out I hardly eat because of bad experiences.
I can barely handle seeing/smelling vomit, and I never want children because of this reason. - shandromand, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4I'm afraid of Americans.
- Jashobeam5, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2I think that goes along with the fear of clowns. It has to do with not trusting people who hide thier identity. I hate clowns or anyone dressed up in a weird costume like those at theme parks.
- MargotCross, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2i just discovered i have a fear of emetophopbia.
- m00n1, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2Moo.
- Hellahulla, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2A friend of mine suffers from that, she says very similar things to what you said. Things did get a bit better after her second child though, having to mop up baby puke and hearing the older one throwing up and such kind of helped. Still, she will suffer with stomach pains for hours rather than just give in and let it out. I feel bad for her. And you too ... *online sympathy hug*
- TheVoxHumanus, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2Mr. Mencia? Is that you?
- cizrage, on 05/22/2009, -0/+210. Nomophobia – (No-mobile-phone-phobia)

8. Ablutophobia – Bathing
7. Gephyrophobia – Bridges
6. Gynophobia – Women
5. Phagophobia – Swallowing
4. Teraphobia – Four
3. Coulrophobia – Clowns
2. Phobophobia – There’s nothing to fear but fear itself
1. Autophobia (or Monophobia) – Fear of yourself
pretty lame article imo - Lorddias, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3Now I got an excuse for smelling so badly
- lemayo, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Gephyrophobia. I have it, and remember looking this up years ago. But I'm not afraid of heights, or open spaces. Just the thought that a slab of concrete, metal and cables could crumble and/or snap at any given time, leaving me trapped inside a sinking box of pressurized glass, steel, plastic, etc. That's all.
- shandromand, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1The kind named Johnny :S
- untoidlegend, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2my fav is 5. fear of Swallowing... so i guess they spit. AAAAOOOOOOOO!!!
- ShadowFoxxx, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Here's a whole list of phobias: http://www.ojohaven.com/fun/phobias.html
- sauron256, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Obviously the server has a phobia of too many Digg users...
- FurtThePirate, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I don't think that ones irrational. As whatever you're about to walk on doesn't seem like it would hold your weight.
- Jashobeam5, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I can't walk over covers with a grill shape or where I can see through what I'm walking over. I thought I was the only one.
- ncapone, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Many of whom have ablutophobia.
- Hellahulla, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1You must hate those skyscrapers with glass floors and what not. Doesn't the Petronas combo have a glass floored tunnel joining the 2? Being forced across there would no doubt be hellish for you?
- edwartica, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1How is Gephyrophobia bizarre? Maybe its because I've suffered from it all my life, but I find nothing remotely bizarre about it.
- Feener, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1Don't check how many diggs you have.
- upick, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1what type of Americans
- soulonfire928, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I hate walking on stairs that are open enough where your foot could slip through, along with grill-type things.
- Hellahulla, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I know someone with gephyrophobia and emetophobia. They don't seem that odd really. There are people who are afraid of dust and what not.
- Inaktivist, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1The ***** universe hates me.
- themastersb, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I'm pretty sure I have a phobia of being without the internet for a full 24 hours, but that's not exactly bizarre.
- SolarFade, on 10/05/2009, -1/+1One word.....
ithyphallophobia
Idk why it isn't on the list - Snarfels, on 05/22/2009, -0/+0My theory is that to many suffer from Phronemophobia.
- humperdeath, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1I'm afraid of getting Rick-Rolled....
- a30n, on 05/22/2009, -0/+0I have a phobia to have a phobia, how is that called?
- garyhyp, on 10/21/2009, -0/+0I agree with GreenGoblin92 ... emetophobia is very common, in fact many of our clients have suffered from it and are now free.
It's a very controlling condition that not only makes it difficult when fearing vomiting but can often prevent the sufferer from having children ( a very big deal if they want to have a family), it controls them when they go out for a meal (will the food be cooked properly, will the chef be clean, is the kitchen clean?), always on the look out for the rest rooms. If people are ill around them they'll do their best to avoid them.
The sufferer will often avoid long-distance travel (it might make them feel sick or someone might be ill).
They'll avoid operations because of the after-effects which might make them ill ... the list can go on.
Do feel free to have a look at: http://www.bedfordhypnosis.co.uk/symptoms_and_prob ... it might share a different light on the subject.
All the best,
Gary ... - Snarfels, on 05/22/2009, -0/+0I'll add Epistemophobia
- GreenGoblin92, on 09/19/2009, -0/+0Emetophobia is actually common, and it's not bizarre.
I have a big fear of vomiting. I hate seeing it and me doing it. And I always have to wash my hands. Though, I'm fine with restaurants and all. But I don't like going to a place that has little children.
I don't think I'll have children, and it's not only because of my phobia but because I'm not with kids.
I have a normal life, btw. People think us emetophobes have a weird life and that we can't live normally. Um, we do, but we just avoid vomiting. :) I think people fearing spiders might not have a normal life, cos spiders are everywhere (like, they can anywhere) so they have to stay home all the time. - DohCanadian, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2Anyone else find it odd that the fear of women and the fear of swallowing are next to one another...
Just sayin. - m00n1, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1Yeah, screw that. That'd be a limit for me.
A friend once took me to a restaurant in singapore where there were aquariums everywhere - including UNDER the floor in the entrance way. That freaked me out totally. - sherm420, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1im scared of sump pumps...
- JDizzle10, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1"The worst, worst fears in the world, if you like, the ones that sound funny, until you really think about them."
This is important. They may sound funny, and appear funny at first glance, but such fears can destroy lives.
I'm not one to say absolutely no humor should be derived from mental illnesses, it's just important to remember that they can be very serious things, as this article recognizes. - keyo, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2A phobia is an irrational fear, why repeat yourself in the title?
- beclee, on 05/22/2009, -1/+1i'm terrified of people dressed up as animals. i'm the lamest person on halloween
