- fpaudon, on 07/21/2008, -3/+21Bush Administration: Waterboarding isn't torture; it's hydrotherapy

- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5All I know is I'm not putting Prozac, or any other psycho-tropic drug in my body. If it can't be cured by beer or weed, I'll just live with it.
- tumatakuru, on 07/21/2008, -1/+6Yes but what will the 23rd century think about prozac, ritalin and viagra?
- Vikaas, on 07/21/2008, -1/+5The thought of getting a frontal lobotomy just makes me shudder.
But he did apparently have the ladies flocking to his "lobotomobile." - blackmesa, on 07/21/2008, -1/+5Generally, the main reason you would purposely bleed someone's head is to relieve intracranial pressure during a medical emergency, such as a subdural haematoma, or other trauma related injuries.
- mianos, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3No deep sleep therapy as well.
The scary thing is some freakshow doctors still think electrotherapy works. - diggmeyoubitch, on 07/21/2008, -2/+5We finally have a cure for terrorism!
- felixkunze, on 07/21/2008, -1/+4no Electric Shock Therapy on the list?
- alexkim804, on 07/21/2008, -1/+4i'm pretty sure trepanation still works sometimes, not to release demons, but because it relieves pressure. If a patient has a growing tumor, the pressure in the skull will cause severe pain and boring a hole helps a bit... gross, but i guess any instances where this worked it's because of this.
- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2I love how it automatically replaces '8)' with a smiley face.
- kdfrawg, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Much of this seems fairly unpleasant....
- BeachHouseChris, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2It kind of is on the list. #7 is Chemically induced Seizures. Electric shocks are used to induce a seizure without using chemicals.
- chkdg8, on 07/21/2008, -4/+6We have become a society that depends on couch sessions and pill popping. If everyone instead smoked cannabis or held a mushroom session or even better yet, travel to Peru and have an Ayahuasca ritual in the middle of the rain forest, that ***** will change your perspective on what's important in life.
- Myztry, on 07/21/2008, -1/+38. HYSTERIA THERAPY - Curing the wandering womb.
I've always wondered where the term HYSTERectomy came from.
Nice to see it's has a long established basis in medical science.
Hmmmm.... - QualityGal, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2College professors should tuck this away for the start of fall classes; it would be an interesting way to start that first General Psychology 101 class.
- djkool14, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Attempts to "cure" hysteria also lead to the invention of the dildo ;)
It's no joke... look it up! - goodinohio, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2Did CO$ get this on digg?
- jcand, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1How appropriate - a Mormon church banner ad on the top of the page.
- pakruse, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Isn't malaria treatment still used to fight Ebola?
- iCoty, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2Rotational Therapy - thank goodness Darwin redeemed the family name!

- M724, on 07/21/2008, -1/+2Thank God we live in the 21st century.
- scott88008, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1True, in one documentary I saw a notable psychiatrist admitted that modern psychiatric drugs were the equivalent of "chemical restraints" which would some day be viewed as barbaric as earlier misguided practices.
- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1Dr. Robert Chase: I'd give her two months.
Dr. Gregory House: On the bright side, it still means I was right. - jcpudd, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Seriously? A "not" joke.
Wow, I'm speechless. - u8muhrice, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0Alot or even all of these are discontinued thankfully. It's crazy to see how unconventional methods were used back then.
- AmyVernon, on 07/21/2008, -3/+3amazing how far we've come, yet ... not...
- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1#6 could be the name of a metal band
