- svtspeed, on 04/30/2008, -4/+57My surefire way to loose ten pounds guaranteed.
1. Eat less
2. Exercise more
Any questions? - Jodie1234, on 04/30/2008, -1/+33Hi - Aboyd - thanks for the feedback. I am however a female, not a male (fyi) and what I meant by being REALLY hungry was that in today's world, we often don't wait until we are hungry but eat all the time, therefore forgetting what is really like to feel hunger and satisfy it. Perhaps I was not clear enough. Also, blowing 'smoke up your ass' was not my intention ;)

- ChronicColonic, on 04/30/2008, -7/+35The Lord, the Lord Jehovah has given unto you these fifteen... Oy! Ten! Ten commandments for all to obey!
- roomforpanic, on 04/30/2008, -4/+27So could a 10lb 10 year-old establish non-existence with this method?
- zomgwaffles, on 04/30/2008, -0/+22i think a ten year old that weighs only 10 pounds is already well on his way to not existing
- NoCt1, on 04/30/2008, -0/+17Dont eat less. Eat healthier.. If you exercise more youll make muscle and that needs the protein.. and then itll burn off the fat for you.. So dont starve it or your body wll turn to your muscle before the fat..
- sagat, on 04/30/2008, -0/+16I don't mind losing ten pounds but losing 10 years isn't quite so appealing.

- ChronicColonic, on 04/30/2008, -0/+11Wouldn't you?
- jecobo, on 06/11/2009, -0/+10H'old ...the contraction for "How old." I like it.
- frostbyt, on 04/30/2008, -4/+12Here are the answers in 2 easy steps
1. Exercise every day for 1 hour (Cardio, weights, walking, anything...)
2. Eat Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and less than 8 oz of meat (Cut all the cheese, bacon, fried stuff out of your life)
I lost 15 pounds and I am down to 8% body fat in 4 weeks.
It's not a diet, it's a way of life. - krellor, on 04/30/2008, -0/+8That is true. Hunger is the best spice and all. But like aboyd said, being truly hungry sucks. And, after a few days, it hurts too. Not something I would describe as good.
- takdiego, on 04/30/2008, -0/+8great article...and dugg anyways..but I wonder how much K.rose's picture helped..lol
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/30/2008, -1/+812?
- NICU, on 04/30/2008, -2/+9I'd add a simple idea: eat healthy parts of your meal first, start with protein and vegetables and eat bread/potatoes/fries if you're still hungry. Make sure you eat all of the beneficial foods before the empty calories.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8Why are there never any articles about gaining weight =/
- skellener, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8Skip the fries all together.
- unjustend, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7This man is not lying. Common fare tastes amazing when actually hungry.
- skellener, on 04/30/2008, -1/+81. Eat better.
2. Exercise more. - Sethbacca, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6Step 1 : Eat Continuously
Step 2 : Cut down any activity to a minimum
Step 3 : Supplement step 2 by getting a job in a call center or other job where physical activity is at a minimum. - HastyBoom, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6"You could say that I ordered takeout with such frequency that my dialing finger practically started to evolve into the shape of a phone key"
Thats not how evolution works. - SkippyDoorknob, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6Your head?
- cheesypasta, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6As for #4, not everyone likes fish or don't want to spend the time preparing it. You can get your Omega 3 from flax seed meal (usually in the health or organic section of the grocery store) and just throw some on your cereal or oatmeal. It doesn't really change the taste, it just adds a little nutty flavor to it.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/30/2008, -1/+7I pay attention to every french fry and piece of candy that goes into my mouth!
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5As I posted on the original site, there are some fallacies listed in this article so I'd like to clear them up:
Flour, not white flour specifically, breaks down into sugar as do any carbohydrates. All carbohydrates are chains of sugar. They can be starches and even fiber.
The problem with white flour is that it is a simple sugar meaning it's broken down more rapidly than whole wheat flour which contains long chains of sugar (Resistant starches). Whole wheat flour is subject to the same process of being broken down into simple sugars. It just breaks down a bit slower and leaves the fiber behind which is a bit more healthy.
Green tea fights cancer? Nope, no direct evidence. Japan has low incidence of cancer and drink a lot of green tea, but they also get a lot of fish with healthy cancer-fighting Omega-3 fatty acids. Massive amounts of green tea to mice can help reduce their cancer, but this equates to gallons of green tea per day for humans.
The Acai (ah-sah-ee) berry is actually the healthiest fruit.
Acai berries also have the health-giving omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids, rarely found in fruit, are low in calories and contain fiber, calcium and vitamins. Doctors say they help to fight leukemia and premature aging and the berries are even believed to increase libido. A study by the University of Florida showed that extracts from the berries triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86 per cent of cultured leukemia cells tested.

http://www.acai.vg/acai_nutrition.html - inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6My doctor recommended that I get on a low sugar diet because of my family history. I've basically been following the diet in the article. I stopped eating bread and switched to green tea instead of coke and I've lost 15 pounds in a month. I weighed 215 at the start and although I'm pretty tall and could pull it off, I do feel better at 200. I'm going to try for 185 and see how good that feels..:)
- asnider, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Did anyone else read the title as "10 Commandments for Dropping 10 Pounds IN 10 Years?" I saw that and thought, "What the *****? Useless much?"
- pegothejerk, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Similiar story. My liver was crapping out, so I cut out beer (along with all alcohol), and got back to working out again. Add on lots of fish, chicken instead of fried foods or fast foods (nearly always the same), and I lost 20 lbs in a month. From 190 to 170. My liver is fine, no sign of diabetes (runs in the family), I'm sick less often (actually illness free since), and I feel more alive. That last one is hard to quantify, but is 100% true. Peoples genes make a perfect diet impossible to put into a list, but there are certain general rules that can be touched upon. Jodie1234 did a decent job, if a little full of positive thinking power for my taste. I recommend people give it a shot, if you're serious about change. If something doesn't work, work around it. Learning to adapt is the most important part of any series of changes.
- Hoogs, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5That's what I thought.
- curme, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5What's with those small packets of nuts that they give you on airplanes?
- bdbr, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5I find this article to be the typical way-too-upbeat article about the wonders of pounding the pavement and eating food that tastes like pavement. Its too easy to lose that "rah rah" attitude and slip into old habits. My advice is just to realize that the things in life that really mean anything are usually the things that aren't easy. Exercising regularly and eating right are hard things to do, but its all part of keeping yourself looking and feeling reasonably good. Our bodies aren't evolved for this high-calorie sedentary lifestyle, and they require some upkeep.
- TexasShiv, on 04/30/2008, -2/+7Eating after a certain time does nothing. In the end, its the amount of calories you take in vs. the amount of calories you expend. You're basal metabolic rate does not slow during sleep. Just because you ate before you went to sleep, does not mean that this will be turned into fat. You're body simply doesn't work like that. If you want to eat after 9 P.M., it doesn't matter. You will sleep better, but thats about it.
- FearFactory, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5No fast food and carbonated drinks has been working for me.
- Niubai, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4Personal Experience: I eat like a horse, everyday: breakfast, lunch and dinner. But I have a fit and strong body, why ? Because I spend more than 2 hours/day working out. One hour at morning at gym and one hour running at night. I've been on this for the last 5 years, and I can say: when you have a lot of muscles, you can eat a lot more. I know it kinda looks hard to spend all this hours just exercising, and it was hard at the beginning, but when you get used to and start to like ... you just need it. The thing becomes part of your basic needs.
- sereth, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4Actually it is common sense when you actually take the time to learn basic nutrition. It is not common sense to the people who refuse to read or deal with their eating habits. The solution to obesity is simple yet people don't want to make the effort. The real problem is the food industry and farm subsidies in this country that make it a chore to eat properly in this country. There is a serious problem when you can by Dinty Moore soup and meat at .40 a can but you can't get fresh vegetables without going broke.
I've been fortunate to be thin all my life but recently I started to change and add weight. My diet was crap..I was being lazy. 45 days after changing my eating and exercising , I;ve gotten into the best shape of my life. No magic..just eat healthy and exercise at least 1 hour a day. Your body is an investment ..start treating it like one. - eryximachus, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5If I ate less than 8 ounces of meat per day, I'd lose 8% muscle mass in 4 weeks.
It depends what your goals are. - DSPoh, on 05/01/2008, -0/+4Hasn't research proved that it does not matter what time of day you eat as long as you stay under a 2,000 calorie limit and exercise?
"Fact: It does not matter what time of day you eat. It is what and how much you eat and how much physical activity you do during the whole day that determines whether you gain, lose, or maintain your weight. No matter when you eat, your body will store extra calories as fat." - arkaycee, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4My g/f says "45 is the new 25 ... but that's creepy if it means that 25 is the new 5."
- DrMatt, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Exercising 10 hours a week seems a bit excessive (not to go from 210 to 148 though). 30 mins a day is a good start. Hell... walking around the block once a day is a great start!
- Jodie1234, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3WHO is Kevin?
- Duositex, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4The point is simple physics: if you use more energy (exercise) than you add to the system (your body) you'll see a decrease in the amount of stored energy (fat) in that system.
- lewhich, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Nope ... Its not just eat less ... less than what?
Eat less food than your body requires to operate daily (eat less calories than the amount your body burns)
Excess calories => stored as fat
Less calories => stored fat gets converted to the energy your body needs (thereby reducing total body fat) - postalblowfish7, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3humans have binocular vision and sharp teeth for a reason...
- HeatVision, on 04/30/2008, -0/+33-5 servings of green tea a day? That's a lot of tea.
- bieber, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Dugg for "It's a way of life." It really is a matter of lifestyle. If you just get used to doing these things, it's not a problem. If working out and eating healthy are exotic, strange things that you're forcing yourself to do for some transient goal, then it's gonna be a relapse-recovery cycle that will go on for the rest of your life.
