- angrycat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45Pffft, put some LEDs on it and then maybe then you start calling it the worlds fastest RAM. This is 2007, all high performance hardware has LEDs on it.
- kent1146, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30No, just like nobody needs an $80,000 Mercedes, or $5,000/pair speakers, or a 60" 1080p plasma HDTV.
Everybody has their hobbies. Some people are willing to spend large amounts of time and money to get the absolute most out of those hobbies that they can. This RAM is for people who like building fast PCs as their hobby. - P3ST4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Ok, spending upwards of 600$ for RAM is absolutely ridiculous. You can build a computer these days for that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24"[can it] justify itself? Or is it ... worth a load of cash?"
Geez, sounds like it's head it wins, tails it wins. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Result: Yes, its the fastest.
- jotux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Not only the worlds fastest ram, but the only stick of ram you can also use to comb your hair!
- Samsong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Actually it's I'm in your computer, making it really fricken fast.
- drouk1556, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14No, you don't. And no, they aren't.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11But is there any game that needs this?
- Digg4all, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13with this work with my 486 proc?
- Darth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11mine burnt in 2 days at default speeds/voltages. No OCing. Sent it back and still waiting for a replacement. Corsair support sucks.
- WiZZLa, on 10/22/2007, -3/+13pcgeek101 : "Because clearly, he does not understand the performance and price-to-performance differences between low-latency RAM and "regular" RAM."
OR he has enough money to spend on more expensive RAM AND have other "priorities" such as a nice apartment, a brand new car, and a couple of nice computers to work on.
pcgeek101 : "Wow, will his dick be bigger too? I'm so jealous."
Probably not, similar to how your maturity level will not increase in the years to come. - ellisgl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8LEDs? WTF - That was like 2 years ago. Put an OLED display on it!
- deathguppie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8D3koy said: "But is there any game that needs this?"
Yes there are. Just about every new game character these days is developed using 3ds Max/Maya and ZBrush. ZBrush is a sculpting program that allows you to add detail to your character and then map it using the face normals. The thing is, the more memory, the faster the memory is, the more detail and better the character. - Tycho7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Dugg for the digg-effect SQL error.
Maybe the article is cool, too... - dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9When RAM costs more than most computers is when we need to rethink what companies are really trying to sell us here.
- FaNtAsMa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5duggmirror only shows the first page of the article :-(
- Tradgedy12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7hellz yeah. gota love the LED's. and everyone knows LED's increase the leet factor by like...what? 1-2 kiloleets each?
- ellisgl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I now know what will be in the systems at QuakeCon this year!
Now if I could make a ram drive out it. =) - TWEAK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think you took us down guys... waiting on server guys to wake up and fix the issue :)
- WiZZLa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7pcgeek101, how do you know he gets allowance from his mom & dad and is brainwashed by false advertising? You also are not qualified to speak on the subject.
...in the end a similar computer will be faster than yours (pcgeek101) due to the RAM; the question is whether the cost is justified, which in the end relies on one's own views, opinions, and priorities. - Kwipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Great. So how much of a difference will I see in comparison to my DDR-2 800 MHz RAM? Will my programs that take a few seconds to load up, load up instantly, or will I still be waiting those few seconds?
- kikkomang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5that was terrible
- computergod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh you must mean this RAM:
http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?page=2&articleid=664&cid=5
Yes, that is a programmable LED display that shows ram settings, and temperature. - ellisgl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Loading up - that mainly goes with HDD performace.. =)
- Lane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yes, if you want the worlds fastest anything its going to be super expensive. im sure the worlds fastest toiliet flush times can demand quite a lot of money too and if i had a golden toilet seat id be very interested in it but if you dont have the best of the best 4 gigs of this stuff is money down the drain for most folks.
- Kwipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Then what exactly will this ram do for me in terms of performance.
- netzdamon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Going to buy this so i can write retarded comments on digg faster. w00t!
- ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks like the server needs this kind of RAM.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Remember Judge Reinhold selling the "Dominator" brand line of over-priced, over-sized speakers in the movie "Ruthless People"? Ah, the 1980's excesses...no amount of reason will keep a man from his toys then, or now.
- gaqua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's pretty damned fast memory, that's for certain. It's also expensive, but I guess Ferraris aren't cheap either. If I'm going to spend a bunch of money on something it should be imported from Italy I guess.
- dseang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never mind "can it justify it's price" - can it justify it's ludicrously macho brand name...?
- merlinicorpus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kind of suprised Tweaktown got taken down by digg. And by a not very high impact article either. Strange.
- potdarko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice low latency on the website... instant error
- Shockerusa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seems to be up now
- AReallyGoodName, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For all of those bringing up price-to-perfomance.
No ones arguing with you, you are simply being modded down for bringing up something irrelevant.
Price-to-performance isn't a factor. - Insanitation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully this will make every day RAM a bit cheaper.
- retrofitme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally, I'm glad to see the advances in ram. Yeah, it's uber expensive now - all technology is when it's new. I'm glad there are people out there willing to spend top dollar to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Those people drive the advances that we buy later for a much more reasonable price.
Designing a good computer isn't about buying one component that will make it the best machine ever. It's about eliminating bottlenecks. This ram will prove effective, if ram is the bottleneck on your system. If not, you probably won't see any real difference. - irvie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2link dead...
- nhprm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The link is borked... How much do they cost??
- kualla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It depends on how they are marketing their hardware. The consumer, or the businessman / prosumer who makes $100k a year and 1 hour of overtime pays for this and ends up saving them 2 hours in time as a result of the increased speed.
- kronix2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pcgeek101 was actually correct in his first post, but he'll get dugg down regardless of what he says. This is due to his incredibly ignorant posts on topics to do with morality and foreign policy. The thing about being an ignorant and/or stupid dolt on Digg is, people will remember your past ignorance and/or stupidity when you post on other articles.
It's anicejew all over again. - PlancksCnst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What do I do with it? Should I stick it in the floppy drive or the cd drive?
Ooh, the memory card reader... got it. - warnerrr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wow, had no idea a simple comment I made would turn out to be so true. I never said I had $2387 ram in my computer, I was just saying that if you really want the fastest there is, then it would be worth it to said individual. Also, parental allowance? Moron.
- ScionX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it fast? Yea.
Is it worth it? No.
With the speed PC parts get outdated you'll be able to purchase that RAM in about 3-4 months for 1/2 that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh dear! You know precious little of performance gaming, keep your money. Better yet, give it here.
- TWEAK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We are back online now :)
- billybobjoey, on 04/06/2009, -0/+0you shouldn't really care about the LED's. as long is the RAM is fast.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2link's broken..
