- IronChef75, on 06/28/2009, -69/+838If Apple did this, we'd be getting told people were dancing in the streets as if this was the second coming. It would be hailed as a revolutionary advancement in usability or something.
Since this is not Apple, no one will care, which is the appropriate response to something so insignificant. - superbobd, on 06/28/2009, -11/+398I'D LIKE A BUTTON THAT PERMANENTLY PUTS MY CAPS LOCK ON PLEASE
- andymci, on 06/28/2009, -21/+339I have more interest in the proposed removal of the Caps Lock key. It serves no purpose other than to irritate people.
- Rawjava, on 06/28/2009, -11/+260Apple didnt move the delete key, they deleted it
- tracal9, on 06/28/2009, -1/+189"Back then, fast typing would jam typewriters, so a keyboard layout that slowed down flying fingers was devised." Um not really. Hitting keys NEAR one another in quick succession would cause jams, so QWERTY was designed to keep common series of letters spread across the keyboard. So you could type faster, not to slow you down.
- IamNomad, on 06/28/2009, -9/+195CAP LOCKS IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!!!!!!!
- IronChef75, on 06/28/2009, -10/+178Apple won't be happy until the keyboard is comprised of only a single key, and it will say something like 'Engage Reality Distortion Field'.
- humanerror, on 06/28/2009, -0/+135I've never hD A PROBLEM WITH IT
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -8/+119I GUESS IT'S JUST ANOTHER WAY TO REMOVE SHOUTS FROM DIGG
- RudeTurnip, on 06/28/2009, -4/+106HOW ELSE CAN WE HONOR THE DEATH OF BILLY MAYS?
- CaptZomborg, on 06/28/2009, -10/+111I'M GOING TO START A FACEBOOK GROUP "1,000,000 USERS FOR THE FUTURE OF CAPS LOCK"
DON'T LET THEM TAKE OUR COOL AWAY! - Swipecat, on 06/28/2009, -4/+101The comment that qwerty was designed to slow down typing is incorrect. Fast typing alone didn't cause jams - it was pressing adjacent keys too quickly that jammed the keyboard. So qwerty was laid out so that subsequent letters tended to be on different parts of the keyboard. i.e. querty was arranged to allow *faster* typing.
Edit: Damn. Beaten to the punch again. - superbobd, on 06/28/2009, -6/+93I SAID PERMANENTLY YOU SMART ASS
- falser, on 06/28/2009, -3/+82IF U TAKE AWAY CAPS LOCK THEN U BETTER DEFAULT TO CAPS LOCK ON ALL THE TIME CUZ I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO HOLD SHIFT ALL THE TIME F THAT

- DephexTwin, on 06/28/2009, -2/+75HOW WOULD WE INQUIRE INTO HOW BABBY IS FORMED?
- deathfix, on 06/28/2009, -1/+72Anybody have a larger picture of this new keyboard? The one in the article is retardedly too small to see much of anything.
- pagit, on 06/28/2009, -7/+77WITHOUT CAPS LOCK HOW WOULD EXTREMISTS AND CONSPIRACY THEORISTS USE TO GET THEIR POINT ACCROSS ?
- PunchRockgroin, on 06/28/2009, -1/+70As long as they don't move the Any key.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -6/+68COOL GUYS HOLD SHIFT.
- SEN5241, on 06/28/2009, -3/+65Lenovo needs to switch the Left-CNTL and Fn keys back to where they normally should be.
That's the most annoying thing about my Thinkpad. - Midnitte, on 06/28/2009, -10/+67Are you implying Apple has advanced technology to a point where deleting things is no longer needed?
- pingveno, on 06/28/2009, -2/+54I wouldn't be surprised if I use the Escape key almost that much. I often use a text editor called Vi that requires extensive use of the Escape key. When I use a dialog box and need to press cancel I usually use the Escape key instead. If I open a menu and want to close it I will sometimes use the Escape key.
Much of this is because I use the TrackPoint (the miniature joystick in the middle of the keyboard) so my hands are always on the keys. Escape is very easy to press. - inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+46I wish they'd get rid of the right-side ctrl key. I'm so tired of that smug little prick's *****.
- NeoCortex, on 06/28/2009, -2/+45BILLY MAYS DOESN'T LIKE YOUR SUGGESTION!
- rocketman42, on 06/28/2009, -5/+48How do you use the Escape key 700 times per week?
- deadbaby, on 06/28/2009, -29/+72As usual it's the anti-Apple crowd who brings up Apple out of nowhere for no obvious reason.
- eramos, on 06/28/2009, -11/+53That would be the caps lock button
- coolcole93, on 06/28/2009, -1/+42AND WE WOULD NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW GIRL GET PREGNANT
- spriggig, on 06/28/2009, -0/+41I use the Caps-Lock key at work. We make signs, among other things, and many signs need to be in all caps.
- sjbdallas, on 06/28/2009, -3/+44It's in a different place on the my latest HP laptop I got at work this past week and it's been screwing me up constantly.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+40I love the caps key. There's no better indicator for who to avoid interacting with online than someone who types in ALL CAPS.
- dagamer34, on 06/28/2009, -1/+39Function over form, dude. That's all business people care about.
- MtheoryX, on 06/28/2009, -3/+40HOW WOULD BILLY MAYS SELL OXICLEAN ??
* Edit, nevermind, he's dead now :(
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,529328,00.html - MtheoryX, on 06/28/2009, -2/+39I reverse the control and caps lock keys on every machine I use.
It's much easier hitting control with your pinky right next to the 'a' key than down on the bottom row. - bj1989, on 06/28/2009, -1/+37In this age of cheap storage for god's sake upload bigger images. Why spend a paragraph on describing what they changed instead of just providing a crisp and clear large image.
- GoingGoingJon, on 06/28/2009, -1/+36When is the MacBook Wheel going to come out already?
- cawfee, on 06/28/2009, -1/+36Lenovo's what?
- consonance, on 06/28/2009, -1/+33On Apple laptops, the Delete key is the conventional Backspace. Fn + Delete acts as the conventional Delete.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -9/+41Yes actually, and I don't appreciate it when insensitive ***** like you joke around about it!
*****
/s - DarkLance, on 06/28/2009, -1/+33oh sweet, then you'll all be in one place, so we can use a smaller bomb
- theojanke, on 06/28/2009, -0/+31I actually use it all the time (every day) at work, in AutoCAD for wire tags, descriptions, etc, and when making labels/lamacoids. Makes the text easier to read from further away (without making it bigger)
Eg: HAND OFF AUTO, CAUTION
The general home user may not use it much, but many people in industry use it every day. - Zomgondo, on 06/28/2009, -2/+32Yeah, I cringe every time I see this myth repeated. The folks who brought you the (patented) Dvorak keyboard layout are the ones responsible for this. In real-world tests its been shown that QWERTY is actually far more efficient than a random layout and almost as efficient as Dvorak, which explains why very few people have bothered to switch.
- merreborn, on 06/28/2009, -0/+30There are some old data entry apps out there that require everything to be typed in caps as well.
Most people don't need it at all, but some people couldn't live without it. - LazyBeachBum, on 06/28/2009, -1/+30Apple introduces the Macbook Wheel
