- moobys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Your CDs are worth a couple of iPods if you skip this scam. Selling 175 CDs to your local used CD shop @ $4 each = $700 cash.
- intelmustdie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2175 CDs x average of $15 a piece = $2625
60 GB iPod = $400
Trading in over 2,000 songs for 1/4 the price you paid for a device that plays songs = retarded - thewordwasgod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7"Digg spy tipped me off to Millennium, an independent music retailer that is taking an interesting approach at getting used CD inventory."
wait... this story is a link...to a blog... that references (with a link) ....to an ealier digg story....that links to the service that this story is about?
NO DIGG FOR ***** IDIOTIC RECURSION.
(i realize that this is the basis of the "blogosphere"..but ***** that *****) - degree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"buy 1 cent ones off of ebay"
+$3.99 in shipping :( - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"The CDs must all be original CDs including jewel case and liner notes. (In other words no burned CDs or CDs in CD folders)"
and
"If the CD has a questionable sales history, then we may offer to accept it, but only at half value. If the CD has no significant sales history, then it is not acceptable." - dmcameron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is such a bad idea that i suspect "Price Right Photo" is behind this.
- notman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why not just copy all your original CDs, then send them in? You're just going to want to transfer them to the iPod anyways ;)
But as someone else already suggested, it's a bad deal. Not that your CD's are worth $15 a piece, but they are determining the value of your title, so they likely don't want your crappiest CDs either. - crash2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its a RIP-OFF you can take 175 Good Cd's to a used store and they will give maybe $5.00 a CD and thats $875.00 and then go buy 2 60GB iPods.
- Wolfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0unless ofcourse you buy a lot of used cd's off ebay, this is a major ripoff.
- hehe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Step 1: Burn your CD or rip it onto your computer (or both)
Step 2: Give them your CDs and collect your iPod
Step 3: Sell it on eBay for a couple hundred bucks
Step 4: Buy a real MP3 player (or just keep the money) - .mark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds cool, and I'll digg it, but there's no way in hell that I'm going to pay to ship my CD's and trade them in for an iPod...
- stolenpass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just bought a 1 gig iPod Shuffle new for $67.
Anyone want to trade me 65 CDs? - MiloMindrbindr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i ebayed 50 cds and got enough to buy 1 and a half nano's.
do a little bit of work and you could buy as many nanos as you want and still have cash left over.
this is good for the record store and pretty smart on their part, but an absolute idiotic move if youre the one trading stuff in. unless you are just that lazy. - MikeEFresh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1buy 1 cent ones off of ebay
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bleah.
- thewordwasgod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ha...and the blog in question is "infinite loop"
seriously...flagged as "old news" and you can not even argue that if you wanted to. - jdgtrplyr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This offer is actually very legit. The last time I was in Charleston, they had a huge sign on the door with the same promotion. They've been doing this for a good while apparently because I haven't been to Charleston in almost a year. But anyways, it's a great offer, but think of all you have invested into CDs in the past...that's a lot of cash, the store is going to make mad profits of people aching for an iPod.
- gstuartj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is a legitimate offer. I'm not sure how many locations Millennium Music has, but I've been to the store in downtown Charleston, SC, and believe me, this offer is POPULAR. I was in the store browsing for about an hour, and within that hour saw at least five people trading in stacks of Cd's to get iPods. In the front of the store was a huge glass case filled with the devices, and I imagine there were more in the back. If only I lived in SC...

I know people that are involved in music CD manufacturing that could easily get me +1000 of burned, printed, packages, and labled for the price of manufacturing, around $200 bucks.
There must be a catch were I can't do this, right? - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0err. okay. now, for that label maker :P
- msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hahaha, i think there is a stipulation. i bet they have to have content on them. hmm.. pirate music, burn your own cds, make labels and covers, and you can get an ipod for what? less than $100 right?
- Nick_Circosta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0clever stratagy
-Nick - firelion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0so no AOL Cds, damn hehehe
- jayinvt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just rip em to your hard drive, then trade them in. I have about 200 I could do without!
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0LMAO. ;) *Buys blank CD's from Best Buy*
- JR007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I wonder how legit this offer is?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0nice
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sounds like a scam, maybe you get the iPOD case but not the guts.

Oh forgive us, O mighty one!
Everyone bow down to the high and mighty Digg genius! We all feel so inferior with an intellect like yours gracing our humble boards. - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0god damn it. there's my plan out the window. I guess il just stick to my old ipod.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I rather Like diggs like this.. I really like the comment about local music stores buying used cd's for ~$4.00 a piece, it gave me a great idea to call my local shop which buys back at an average of $2.00 per cd. But still cool to know. Thanks for this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wow. Way to completely ignore the fact that your link features another a Digg link that is THE EXACT SAME STORY WITH AN EXACT SAME TITLE.

NO DIGG FOR ***** IDIOTIC RECURSION. - rayper07, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0OMG BEST PLAN EVER time to head to my local HALF PRICE BOOKS
25 cents a CDx 110 = 27 dollars and 50 cents for 4 gig nano w00t
hmmm jump on it i think so - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1d0000000000p.
- themulf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0175 CDs are NOTHING at my house. Its crazy how big my dad's CD collection is. Too many to rip.
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I smell a terrific odor in this offer. Hell, I have a hundred CD's that somebody gave me. Old jazz recordings, and people I never heard of. Not a George Thurogood in them... They are legitimate and have the old dusty cases. Hmm. But what am I gonna do with an ipod unless it has video. I am no good for mp3s unless I am in front of the computer, and doing something else, while I skip songs, that don't grab me that day. hehehe

Does Winger and Poison CDs count? The bigger the hair the more the credit? - msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0haha. nice one. or how about with rootkits on them?
- albert71292, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I could care less about an ipod... will keep my collection of 500+ CD's I bought since 1984, and my collection of 400+ vinyl LP's bought before then...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I wish I kept the cases for my CDs and DVDs. I've always kept them in cd binder thingys to save space and make them more portable. But now it's harder to trade or sell them.
- thewordwasgod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0yeah no *****, maybe this seems attractive because you are a sucker for apple ads and your cds are all ***** because you are also a sucker for to 40 commercial radio ***** that you tire of after a few listens.
the value of my cd collection or any portion of it is worth MUCH more than the monetary value of any of thier trade in deals.
i would never do this even if for some strange reason i wanted an ipod - ParanoiaAgent, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Can they be burned? jk

http://digg.com/apple/Trade_Your_CDs_for_an_iPod_ - dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I got to 22 Diggs before I got removed from the site for some reason
- Mabu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Of course there's a catch you morons.... the CDs you trade in have to be worth a lot more than the stupid iPods they give you. And you're stupid so you fall for it. Or you foolishly think you're going to walk in there with 175 copies of some lame local band's CD that they'll reject.
Man, you kids are downright dumb sometimes... this is no great deal, unless you just want to cash out your expensive CD collection for an iPod. Then when that stops working, you're SOL because you dumped all your music. Yea, you can pirate a hundred plus CDs and burn extra copies for yourself, because, your lame time isn't obviously worth anything....
