- strangerzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32I think a cool looking hybrid like this would be a huge hit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Why is it shocking that it's a hybrid? Hybrids can be much faster off the line than straight gas engines because electric motors have excellent torque.
- vuke69, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Darth Vader called... he wants his car back.
- Subcranium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Ouch. Do we have to have "lol" in our headlines?
- agrabob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16edmunds article(with a few more pics & info): http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=118933
- diulei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I agree. A car that could do sub 6-second 0-60 with 40+ MPG would be a HUGE hit. Cool in front of the guys, chick magnet, saves gas, and environmentally sound (more so than a standard car anyway) ...it's a win-win-win-win situation.
...and I'm guessing any successor to the Supra would have a sub 5-second 0-60 time. - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9http://www.teslamotors.com
Not all hybrid/electrics look goofy. - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Because people won't buy a car with a seatbelt that complicated.
Yes, it's stupid. - nwhitehill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7i wish mazda would release an update to the rx-7, but based on the rx-8, i am afraid it will be a bitch basket and be slow as crap
- joeawilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Here is a great gallery from autoblog... the link seems to be down
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/ - palmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If it wasn't meant to be a successor to the RX-7, they sure as hell shouldn't have called it the RX-8.
DUH. - osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I have been waiting for the supra. I heard it was either going to be electric/hybrid or a monster V10 - I guess they're going electric.
- bonus45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I want to check it out but I just can't click on a story that has "lol" in the headline. Lame.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5guy who wrote the description is a ***** moron
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9everyday is repost day
- chinaman1472, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hybrid cars allow for much faster power, the electric motor allows for instant power. It'll just be a while before it's harnessed and perfected into cars.
The design looks nice... and a while ago there were articles (here on Digg) claiming that Toyota was trying to price it around $35,000... which we know won't happen. - TopherT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Anybody notice the four point seat belt? I've always wondered why those aren't standard, much more safe in a crash.
- neuroticus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So what? If people Dugg it to the front, it's because they haven't seen it. eDemocracy in action.
- neuroticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.autoblog.com/photos/toyota-ft-hs-concept/116352/
WOW! I was impressed with the creativity of Toyota before, but now I'm a fan. - WeSaluteYou, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7In Soviet Russia, robe and wizard hat puts on you! WTF? I'm in ur comments blending ur funny cat pictures, so, Digg me down!
The internet is a series of tubes, coincidentally, my tubes are clogged! I'd hit it (with a hammer), but the yo momma's so fat the RIAA sucks! Finally, I'm going to become rich and famous after I invent a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet because I love Kevin Rose! - cbergeron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@vuke69
The 1980's called, they want their phrase back. - joerod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if this car is a hybrid then sign me up because this car looks great! American car companies should take a lesson from toyota and stop producing gas guzzlers and start producing good looking hybrid vehicles...
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think a big problem is that a lot of people bought supras for racing (or at least the "potential" to race) but in almost any official racing event, electric is illegal. Also, for all practical purposes, a hybrid car used for racing would only be as powerful as its engine once the battery ran out.
- jsully, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Have any of you driven one, or at least seen Clarkson's review of the RX8 on Top Gear? It's a phenomenal car. Period.
- mc786030, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice rims.
- johnny23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@neil89
We know what type of car it is. It is a slow, underpowered car. You said it yourself. You still need something to power you out of those corners.
Didn't mazda get in ***** over the RX8 because they actually overstated the bhp of the engine? - musicphreke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that certainly is a beautiful car. hopefully we'll actually see this on the road soon. most of these hybrid cars you see rarely make it to the streets though. this would definitely catch some eyes. sexiest hybrid i've ever seen.
- agrabob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ jsully: Thx. I was looking for those.
That things front "jaw" is almost too agressive looking. I'm sure the production model will be scaled back, but still. - jsully, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here are some actual pictures of the car:
http://autoshow.autos.msn.com/autoshow/detroit2007/photogallery.aspx?cp-documentid=2238915 - TorrentFox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's not a bad looking car, either.

- Pic0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there was talk about this long ago, "2004-Toyota-Alessandro-Volta-Concept-FA-1024x768.jpg"
- Mysk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why do they waste our time and their money with concept cars? pft, it'll look like your typical asstastic car when it actually sells.
- Cirrius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2deja vu

If you spend 5 seconds searching for "toyota hybrid", you can pick up that these articles have been posted already and dugg 2500 times. - wrestlingnrj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One problem with this car that I see. Toyota has killed their original Supra base buyers in replace for another base group. The MKIV Supra is the Japanese supercar because of the potential it has and the amount of power that can be packed into the 2JZ-GTE engine. Their tuner market will be gone because of this being a hybrid. Yes it will be fast, but no where near as fast as the MKIV. Still a pretty cool looking car though.
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Satanael - The mustang... is a mustang killer. Do people still buy those?
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Transformers. The car reminds me of transformers.
I still want one though . - KaneElson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So let me get this right... Digg up if you think it will and digg down if it wont!
- Ductapemaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like a highly stylized Infiniti G35
- PaulLev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If it's a hybrid, I am all for it ... I felt like I was finally entering the 21st century, when I started driving my Prius last summer... http://paullev.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=143173
- coolbru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Have you seen the ads for the Citroën C4? They don't get much more transformery than that.
- BrainInAVat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed. It's a cool car but I'm not sure what's "laugh out loud" funny about it.
- airiox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5This news is so old, how'd this get dugg? The concept has been around for almost 6 months now.
- SuperCujo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just like a G35 looks like a highly stylized Alfa Giulietta... /sarc
What drugs are you on? - WildBil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tesla Roadster shows why electic is good
- jpbleuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree with macaddct1984 it looks alot like the celica before they stopped production on it.
- tearinox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1See the car in a real picture. It's not as good looking. Too plastic like imo.

- gummih, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would think the opposite, you can place the batteries anywhere you want, thus making it easier to manage weight distribution. I thought that 60/40 was close to ideal, by placing your batteries in the rear you can better accomplish that.
- Kryptonitfusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This would be an amazing car when it makes it to the production lines. doesn't seem to come w/ a turbo/TT/charger...ur misleading with the "supra-replacement". the celica's are the supra replacement or whatnot. fths is a v6, supra's were originally Inline 6 cylinders with turbo. either way i would definetly get this car.
