- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -1/+76I was much more impressed by the short rocket launch at the very end of the clip. You know, the one that actually flew straight and didn't explode.
- antoniojvr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+74Look right before it explodes... You can see a small charge under the right wing. It is obviously a conspiracy by the highest form of the rebel alliance to hide the truth of this catastrophe.

- sacherjj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+43Stupid rookies. You don't launch with your wings in attack formation.
- titokane, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23"I got a problem here. I can hold it."
"Pull up!!!"
"No, I'm alright -- AAAGGGHH!!!!" - MrTinker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24There was a Y-wing too? *****!
- stupergenius, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23This, friends, is why we don't have a consumer space exploration industry.
- spritom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16It'll buff right out.
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14How come they didn't show that one, it looked like it could hold together, at least longer then the X-Wing.
- lodleader, on 10/10/2007, -8/+22got to love the repost...
http://www.digg.com/videos/people/The_First_Flight ... - arielpopper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13anyone know where we can get some vid/pics of the Ywing launch?
- hplasm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13You missed the TIE fighter disguised as a bird-hologram.
- FlyCO, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12"Oh my, space travel sounds rather perilous. I can assure you, they will never get me onto one of those dreadful starships."
amen - andritchie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I liked the novelty horn with about 40 seconds left.
- CraigJ, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8This gets better every time I see it.
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7needs more salami
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7This isn't a repost watch the video.
- rspeed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Because that rocket could spin about its axis, creating a gyroscopic effect and keeping itself pointed up. The X-Wing was like throwing a pile of wood into the air and hoping it wouldn't tip over (which is essentially impossible).
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Palpatine?
- chibimmy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7No, but we can fit you.
- MerryMortician, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6the little straight rocket at the end was freakin awesome. I would only need a life-sized gi joe to strap to it for nostalgic effect.
- Alex2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Not exactly rocket scientists then, are they?
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I used the link but the site wasn't there.. clearly government censorship of the truth.
- TheHighPrivate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5He exists within the force.
- ScottoGato, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Stay on target..."
- consoneo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Yeah same here, that was a huge rocket and it launched remarkably... The X-wing guys didn't even bother to do structural integrity tests... Plywood? Come on heh... No chance of staying together... Had it held in one piece it probably would have had an interesting flight!
- fluidfoundation, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I think the pilot saw a wamprat to the right and decided, "hey, why not?"
- rspeed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Without a guidance system there's no chance it will do much better. It wasn't a structural failure that killed the X-Wing, it was the fact that it had nothing to keep it flying in the same direction it naturally began a parabolic arc which (at that speed) stressed the body far beyond what could be reasonably expected.
- opethlike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Poor Porkins
- ScottoGato, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I could clearly see someone using the force to cause a malfunction. You can see him kneeling as soon as the X-Wing is falling to the ground. Unbelievable!
- sjbdallas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4or if gizmodo paid attention to the dupe warning on posts.
- bossm4n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4A direct link to a hell of a nice shot of the Y-wing in flight. http://bp1.blogger.com/_PN56M6c04vU/RwptUpkXWhI/AA ...
- MiDri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4And it would not be made of fiberglass and plywood.

http://digg.com/videos/people/The_X_Wings_Counterp ... - ColorBlind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why not just send a tree up with 4 rockets that size....seems like it would work better to me...
- beerbarron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Even though it didnt fly that far, the still shot of it lifting off was awesome! But hot damn I want to know how far the last rocket went for....
- sbnoah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3our society seems to be on the verge of collapse..let's all unite and build a firework in the shape of a sci-fi relic!
- Oronar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Starship, starcraft if you want, would actually be more correct. Since X-Wings are capable of interstellar travel.
A spacecraft would be a ship capable of orbital and interplanetary spaceflight. - ScottoGato, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"I lost R2!"
