- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Dude... its a PILLOW... with a speaker on it... for 10 bucks... if you want a home theater, go buy one.
- crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20unless you die from the cord o_O
- quakefiend, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11pretty cool, but its not a MP3 pillow, its a pillow with a speaker in it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I hate falling asleep with my headphones in my ears... You cannot be confortable with them in your ears and they sometimes fall out. Another thing I hate is having the cord wrap around you and you turn over and jerk it out.
- heymark, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I am willing to bet it is absolute crap. Though, you never know, people may like muffled mono sound coming from behind their head.
- AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I dunno about that ousnd quality, but I assume the sound quality wouldn't be perfect.
- dallen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That looks more like a throw pillow than something I would want to sleep on, but still, its a cool idea
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Always wondered if it'd be possible to comfortably put a speaker in a pillow. I used to try and sleep with headphones on, ouch.
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Wow, I'm gonna pick one up. Can't go wrong for only 10 bucks.
- Xiol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I dugg your comment, but if you're trying to fall asleep does it really matter?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I saw these about three months ago at Brookstone. I had my iPod with me, so i decided to give it a go. Overall, it's a nice product that sure beats the heck out of sleeping with your headphones on. As far as sound quality goes, there are obviously better products, but it's more than enough for 128kb/s music.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Reminds me of a radio I had in the 80s. You wore it around your neck. Pretty good sound for the time and unless you were the one wearing it no one else could hear it. I guess it was called 'the bone phone'. Here is a site that has it:
http://pocketcalculatorshow.com/magicalgadget/index3.html - Apreche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5NO digg. This is old, busted technology dressed up to be cool and new. You've been able to buy pillow speakers at Radio Shack for the pas gazillion years. Putting the word mp3 on it doesn't change it.

- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I, for one, am astonished that nowhere is this mentioned with a little lowercase i prior to it.
Seriously, I was expecting the title to be "iPillow" or "The Cozy iPod Pillow"
Thank you. - Panserbjorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I picked up one of these at Brookstone last year. It produces good quality sound and is comfortable to sleep on. The audio jack comes out of a zippered pocket on one side. You can plug in your MP3 player and even store it in there while you sleep, to negate the problem of cords around your head. I fit my 3G iPod in there with no problem. Other audio players should work fine. I highly recommend this pillow, especially since it's so cheap.
- synthfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4plus it gives someone an excellent chance to plug in their mp3 player at full blast with cradle of filth to get your ass up in the morning! 0_0!!
- mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Actually, I like to listen to audiobooks and podcasts when I am going to sleep, so mono and low quality aren't an issue. I do this, btw, because my wife likes to go to sleep earlier than I do, so reading, which involves a light, is a bit rude, and just listening in the dark means more sex for me on future nights.
My in ear headphones (Griffin EarJams or something like that - good product for the money) are actually pretty comfy even if I am lying on them, but it's a hassle to flip over, etc with them attached to my iPod on the night stand. Assuming this is even moderately comfortable, it should do nicely for me, especially at $10. - toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think it'd be great for an alarm to wake you up. especially if you do a gradually louder alarm system.
- Crazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think the title is incorrect.
"MP3" pillow suggests that it can play mps's, in reality it can be connected to an mp3 player or really anything with a headphone jack.
Except for that this is pretty cool - dwdrummerboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4These have been around for awhile. I picked one up at a local Brookstone in the mall.
- GernBlanston, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Reported lame for being a non beige rehash of a product I saw back in the 80's.
- Leo55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i just hope there is no hard parts like a normal speaker...
It looks soft....
maybe someone can hack it and create a sofa that plays from a mp3 player. - schwal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6i much perfer the brookstone eye cover with built in 'phones. plus it's foam padded.
http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=288217&world_code=1&category_code=19&subcategory_code=117&search_type=subcategory&prodtemp=t1 - PUNCHbrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have had one of these for about a year now and I am so addicted to it, I dont know if I could fall asleep without it! I agree that sleeping with your head on top of it is not the best idea as it isnt very comfortable that way. However, if you get in your sleep position and lay the pillow on top of your head and listen (it's not that big) you will be a happy sleeper. I plug this thing into my PowerBook every night and listen to talk radio everynight and it is so quiet that it never disturbs my wife's sleep. Dont expect Bose sound out of this thing and honestly why would you want that? You are trying to go to sleep.
Buy one of these bitches immediately!!! - wthnow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cheaper version works with any pillow
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103574&cp=&origkw=pillow&kw=pillow&parentPage=search - mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Personally, I'd just put this pillow on top of another pillow (looks pretty thin anyways) and tuck the player into the lower pillowcase (on hold) to keep the cabling from coming free and doing any harm. Plus, it looks like a short cable, so it'd be tough to get it wrapped around your neck.
- craigily, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i used to work for this company! kind of cool to see it here on digg. they have many more versions of this kind of product not limited to pillows, but i think the pillow makes the most sense.
- invisiblespam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah probably not the most comfortable pillow to sleep on... For 10 bucks you wouldn't expect the sound quality to be that great either, but I suppose if you're just using it to fall asleep then that's not a problem at all. I just don't know if I COULD fall asleep on that thing.
- alceria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh please, I fall asleep with headphones in my ear all the time. You'd have to be a complete moron to not wake yourself up if you tangled cords around your neck to the extent that you couldn't breathe. Besides the fact that your bedding has some give in it, and the headphone wire can easily slide out from under you and come out of your mp3 player if you roll on top of it. You'd have to be an exceptional lard ass and be sleeping on a hard surface for the cord to not detach and give you slack.
Believe me, if this could kill you, I'd be dead by now. I'm roll around so much in my sleep that even the fitted sheet comes off the mattress every night.
As cheesy at this idea is, I would love this product, sleeping in headphones just isn't comfortable. - mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If it was wireless that'd be nice. I'm a bit deaf, so I could use it for an auxillary speaker on the center channel to help me hear the dialog without having to turn it up so loud it's uncomfortable for other viewers.
- andrethegiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A friend of mine gave me a black one last year for chirstmas. It sounds great. There isn't much bass, but come on, it's a pillow! Plus it has great cool-factor and impresses everyone.
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Sorry, but I don't want audio cables around my head while I sleep. A few tosses and turns and you could end up strangling yourself.
- ZenKai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have one of the radio shack ones http://www.radioshack.com/sm-see-all-needs-and-wants--pi-2103574.html for my iPod. My girlfriend doesn't even notice when it's on. Very handy if you want to avoid waking up your partner.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not eligible for financial aid, so the humor school option is out.
I'll contact my doctor today.
As far as the "totally acceptable" thing goes, I'm perplexed as to how this is gramatically incorrect.
Enlighten me! - Panserbjorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can tuck your audio player into the pocket that the audio jack is stored in.
- PillowFight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, and you know Brookstone is charging $35 each for them? $10 sounds a lot better to me. I too tried the sound with an ipod and it wasn't half bad. I'm definitely getting one.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They only ship within the US. I live in the UK. No digg (ok lame I'm sorry, good product though)
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I kinda want one on my couch, hooked to my entertainment system.
- mrgreen4242, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"You clearly have a ton of respect for your wife.
It would be so rude of you to read with the light on when she's trying to sleep, but talking about your methods of assuring more sex within an internet community is totally acceptable."
You either need to lighten up, or go to humor school, or the doctor to have whatever is up your butt removed. - Criterion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow. A pillow speaker. How exciting and new.. oh wait...
- moylan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.t2retail.co.uk/productDetail.asp?product=3300209
a small pillow speaker would do the trick. i have mine plugged into my tv. very handy when i'm lying awake at night. - knightcrawler75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great now I will have an imprint of my Ipod on my back after I roll around a bit and end up laying on my $350 alarm clock.
- secretdiffusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had that idea! STEALERS
- chocolatespoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes, thank god. if i see one more igadget i'm going to SCREAM!!!
- chocolatespoon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2or go to grammar school....."totally acceptable" thx for the laugh
- skell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This would probably be awesome for Pzizz users! I just may have to try it.
http://www.pzizz.com/ - TiaraCJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... unbelievable...
- shosterman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been doing this for years, but not with this product. Almost all modern alarm clocks have a sleep timer. Why risk damage to your MP3 player or hassle with connecting it every night/morning.
Plus, that hardly matches my bedroom decor.... - DenverJuggler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use the pillow speaker from Radio Shack ($7.49) mentioned above by Apreche and like it.
The one thing I'd like to do is get some foam and create a doughnut around it to cushion it so it doesn't stick out if it's nearer to my head on the top-side of the pillow in the pillow case instead of lying underneath the entire pillow within the case.
The advantage to this sort of thing is my alarm isn't as loud and jarring for my spouse when I wake up (she's said she can't even hear it), but it's loud enough that I can hear it where ever the speaker is underneath my pillow.
I haven't had any problems with the wire tangling yet either.
