- number9ine, on 11/01/2007, -1/+26"here's a full run-down on what this monitor can do on the next page as to what this monitor can do."
The redundancy of this sentence is very redundant. - UO07, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Hopefully it will become the standard soon so it won't be so expensive.
- adamdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Almost every sentence in the article was awkward, the grammar was bad, and there was almost no information that wasn't contained in the Digg summary. There might have been more information on page two, but "continue to page 2." wasn't a link, and the rest of the page was so cluttered with ***** I didn't stick around long enough to find the next page.
- adamdigg, on 11/01/2007, -2/+8Yes, graphic designers, artists and photographers would flock to Linux, if only it had color management. The lack of Adobe software wouldn't bother them at all, they would all love using the GIMP, and they would write many Perl scripts to get all their design work done more quickly via script-fu.
Then you woke up and realized you're a classic fanboi posting on an otherwise linux-unrelated story.
(Hey, I like Luinux too, but that was seriously lame.) - DeFex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They will have to invent something else to break now they do not have ccfl lights.
they could use whatever apple puts in ipods to kill them when the warranty expires. - Peptis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It looks like this monitor is aimed at people who value image quality above all else. In my opinion a monitor with a 1000:1 contrast ratio certainly does not fit in to that category. And they want to charge close to $2000 for it? They must be dreaming.
@vagarach: There must be something wrong with your setup if your CRT is annoying you with a 100 Hz refresh rate. Here's an article that you might enjoy: http://www.dansdata.com/gz021.htm - kahrn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6http://duggmirror.com/hardware/Samsung_XL20_Reviewed
- Peptis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I'll bet that a CRT monitor of half the price will still beat it in terms of image quality.
- Rodzirra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That reminds me of a great Uncyclopedia article on redundancy which is an article on redundancy in the Uncyclopedia...
http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Redundancy - tempusrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A lot of what I read says 100k hours (11.5 years), but I don't know how true that is for the tiny-scale LEDs in this monitor.
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5LCD with an LED backlight is the bastard child of a proper LED display.
- wstrucke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4i like bastard step-child better
- blaze03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3[off topic] ... Speaking of Samsung, anyone know when the Samsung K3 will be available for purchase in the US?
http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/07/samsung-k3-gets-official/
It's been up on Samsung's site for at least 1.5 weeks, but I called them as well as Best Buy and neither of their customer service reps knew. - kokoni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.thetechzone.com.nyud.net:8090/?m=show&id=682 this caught all the pages.
- sjons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4If only we could see it... 9 minutes into diggdom and the "techzone's" down, wow
- fober, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5That's the sexiest detachable hood I've ever seen on a monitor.
- TonyTheTerrible, on 10/12/2007, -1/+220" for 2k? couldn't you get a great HDTV with a dvi input for that price?
- kanefsky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The pricetag isn't so bad when you consider the Eizo 22" monitor with LED backlighting costs $5000.
- mvannatter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Perfect! I've never paid so much attention to this before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2although I am interested in the monitor the amount of adds makes it impossible to continue to read that article.
- sjons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Thx Kahrn :-)
- JaredMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I am really excited for this technology. I am always think in the back of my mind about how my LCD is eventually going to have the CCFL back light burn out in my monitor. With an LED back lit system, LEDs last pretty much forever, right? That's exciting. If I could have a LED back light system in a television, I would be more comfortable with investing in a HDTV that isn't a CRT.
- DolphinGL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2While an LED backlight is a terrific idea and I praise Samsung for coming out with this, it seems like it's a little too late.
With OLED and SED on the horizon, I'm holding off on buying any more LCD products at all. - plamia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Perfect post! Things never change.
- jmorey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hopefully the new Acer LCD monitor series will be performance competitive enough to drive the price down.
Acer's 24 inch 1920x1200 starts at only $599.99 us.
http://www.digitimes.com/displays/a20070316PR200.html - turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2it looks like every hood ever made.
- sheriffbob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Does the monitor provide writing lessons?
- BHRecon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2what adds?
- ELWOOD_BLUES, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4This puppy is for color critical work. Think photography, art, etc. It is great to have such an advancement. Now if only we had good color management under Linux I wouldn't need Windoze anymore...
- vagarach, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Too bad it would weigh 20lbs and still get annoying even at a 100hz refresh rate.
- boredallas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That hood is incredible! Who would have thought to get 3 pieces of plywood, paint them black, and glue them to a 2 grand monitor?
- greenmande, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0eh....boring
- Shuk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Too bad it wouldn't be nearly as bright as an LCD either.
