- SteveBIRK, on 05/26/2008, -8/+252wow thats going to cost alot!
- Ourai, on 05/26/2008, -18/+143The scary part is that, in ten years, there'll be more memory than that on the eraser of a pencil....
- GB570, on 05/26/2008, -2/+123Thats not scary. =)
- johncap, on 05/26/2008, -9/+115Larest SSD to date? I don't think so. There's a 512gb drive out already.

- Element031792, on 05/26/2008, -5/+68Sadly, this is bigger than my current hard drive =(
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -1/+48Well that settles it. We should just disregard all new hard drives because you're happy with your IDE drive..
/no one cares - fr3ddie, on 05/26/2008, -2/+43Dugg for honesty.... "Not like youll be able to afford it or anything"
- frostw, on 05/26/2008, -11/+47*****
- cgomez, on 05/26/2008, -1/+36Um, it's flash memory.
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -0/+31Hope. Exactly. Because this drive cost's more than that computer.
- Culiada, on 05/26/2008, -1/+30Scary?? That's like... the opposite of scary.
- schnikies79, on 05/26/2008, -11/+40Get back to me when a 1tb is under $300.
They just aren't worth the current price. - danielsamuels, on 05/26/2008, -1/+30USB Pencil Drive?
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -11/+39That wasn't even witty, just racist.
- MacBandit, on 05/26/2008, -0/+25I bet with the rate flash prices are falling it's probably going to be around the same entry price as the 64GB SSD when it was introduced last year. I'm betting about $2,000.
- p0tent1al, on 05/26/2008, -2/+25Right, I'll drop you a note in 2 years
- sittered, on 05/26/2008, -2/+24Which, thanks to inflation, will be the same monetary amount as now.
- secondwheel2, on 05/26/2008, -4/+25That is a lot of porn
- Genma, on 05/26/2008, -2/+22at 5% of the price too
- burketo, on 05/26/2008, -0/+20a newer technology is going to have faster increases, as there are going to be more ways of significantly improving its components, unlike HDD which has been around for ages now so it is much harder to get significant gains out of it.
Computers in like 6-7 years time are going to be so BADASS! what with new storage and new CPU techs coming out now. - bj1989, on 05/26/2008, -0/+20The good thing is that it will make the lower amounts of memory cheaper.
- atticus8, on 05/26/2008, -1/+20well Timmy, for that you have to thank the awesomeness of science, outperforming chance and fables since Day One. it lasts up to 150% longer than other leading brands. now with Rapid Pace Innovation technology (tm).
- iChaz, on 05/26/2008, -2/+21*stands up after seeing the multi-thousand dollar pricetag*
- Risingashes, on 05/26/2008, -2/+19OH NO!!!!!!
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -1/+17Massive amounts of memory gives me the creeps...
- scheming, on 05/26/2008, -2/+18i think samsung's hard drive is a 2.5", the one you're linking to is a 3.5"... i wouldn't mind an ssd in a desktop but it sounds so much better in a laptop
- mrloco, on 05/26/2008, -2/+18creeps = massive boner
- fletcher008, on 05/26/2008, -0/+15why would you need that much memory on a pencil eraser? wouldnt it be used better in a computer?
- sleepysteve, on 05/26/2008, -0/+14But this is SUPER FAST porn!
- McMaster88, on 05/26/2008, -5/+18TEN YEARS!?!??!?!?! try like 3 or 4 years...probably less.

- aroundtown, on 05/26/2008, -2/+14Time to trade in my 250 meg Amiga drive :(
- hardD, on 05/26/2008, -3/+15Can anyone explain to me how they quadruple storage sizes every year?
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 05/26/2008, -3/+14I like how they are now going with power of 2 sizes, now that they don't have to worry about filling circular disk platters.
It's all about how many transistors, they pack in the thing. - Sinay, on 05/26/2008, -0/+11They say the cost will decrease 50% every year.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-9952007-7.html - dsendecki, on 05/26/2008, -2/+13The Zeus-IOPS SSD 512GB is still not yet available — at least I couldn't find it avaialable for purchase anywhere.
- shwerm601, on 05/26/2008, -0/+11and either super smooth hands or carpal tunnel and/or both ;)
- Dylson, on 05/26/2008, -0/+11*flicks your nose and tells you to sit back down and appreciate what samsung has accomplished.*
- mrynit, on 05/26/2008, -2/+13pen drive :P
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -0/+11Don't do it. You can already buy 320 gigs for pretty cheap. Give it a couple more months and you won't have a hindered laptop to deal with.
- Foot56, on 05/26/2008, -1/+11I have a terabyte :(
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -1/+11What does the dig/ comment ratio have to do with anything? Just curious 'cos I have 94 diggs : 1100 comments. Am I racist too?
- EvilFerret, on 05/26/2008, -1/+10Neither is this 256GB drive.
- Shadowgamers, on 05/26/2008, -0/+9Firstborn's arms and legs?
- Shadow120, on 05/26/2008, -3/+12I lol'd
- enterneo, on 05/26/2008, -6/+14Samsung: 1.8"
SimpleTech: 3.5" - renegadeafk, on 05/26/2008, -0/+8It's a hard drive replacement but has no moving parts because it uses flash memory. It has much faster read times, uses less power ect.. than a mechanical drive and is more reliable. 256gb is a lot for a flash drive. You seem to be thinking 256 MB.
