SATA Hotswap on VIA chipset

neoseeker.com — As of VIA Hyperion 5.08A, SATA drives can now be hot swapped - they act in much the same way as USB mass storage devices. I know it's slightly old news, but I didn't know about it until now, and I've been wanting it for a while. Story also contains a link to the latest VIA drivers.

  • maximinus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just looked it up - it appears that it uses the CN400 chipset, which is on the list of supported chipsets - go for it!
  • maximinus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If I understand the information in the article and on the VIA site, so long as the board uses a VIA chipset, you can install the drivers - though there is a specific set it is recommended for (it's not recommended for other chipsets, I take it). If you're not sure what chipset your board uses, try googling it. If it uses a VIA chipset which is in the list - go for it.
