- nem0, on 10/13/2008, -2/+36Those aren't robots, they're sculptures. If they could mix margarita's and server them to me in a chilled glass, then they would be robots.
- Noxat, on 10/13/2008, -1/+15MY internet CD came with Netscape 2.0 and 5 free hours of internet access!
- GamingForever, on 10/13/2008, -2/+10What are these things called typewriters? (sarcastic)
Awesome work on the robots. :) - Darunium, on 10/12/2008, -1/+7I'm usually not a fan of art of that simply involves salvaging beat up or antique stuff and putting it together in strange combinations, all the appeal I can see in it is niftiness, nothing particular pleasing or moving. This stuff, on the other hand, actually came off quite nicely. I personally see real aesthetic appeal in the statues; the positions, proportions, and expressions of the cat and the second man are heightened by the typewriter motif.
- linagee, on 10/13/2008, -0/+45 hours... fap fap fap.
- arcane81, on 10/13/2008, -5/+8DUPE , but cool anyways
http://digg.com/arts_culture/Typewriters_Morph_Int ... - kflott, on 10/13/2008, -3/+6Are these actually robots, or just sculptures? Strictly speaking, aren't robots mechanical (or electronic, such as software robots) and perform some sort of automated task?
- crushfan, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4Beat me to it, I want to know that, too. Apparently, they're just robot-like sculptures.
- philanthr0py, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3is this the 4th or 5th time this has been up here i can't remeber
- MommaLu, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Terminator Typewriters?
- DrZmobie, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3Wasn't this on the front page not even a month ago?
I mean it's a cool article, don't get me wrong. - inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3Aw...I was hoping for real robots made from typewriters, not sculptures with a robot like appearance. Damn.
- moliver21, on 10/13/2008, -4/+6I bet Bender would hit it.
- mayerific, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2I am the artist. I have actually made works that move, using an MIT Handyboard microprocessor, two motion sensors and 6 servos. It won't serve coffee, but it'll creep you out by looking at you and blinking its eyes.
I don't purport to make robots, though. It's just how this stuff gets posted. - EIEAviv2008, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3Old
- UnFriendlyFire, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3I for one welcome our new recycled masters!
- captdonno, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1i don't think i need to make any comment involving a certain sexual organ, and a late-night book report session...
- sk33lz, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Well, I guess my typewriter is safe....for now.
- d3c4y, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Free cookies for whoever makes a lolcat out of that er cat.
- diggydougie, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2But it's just art. Not actually robots.
- stilesja, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Really? Robots? What do they do? Because if you consider sitting there doing nothing but resembling something else a robot, then I'd say Michelangelo's David is a much better example of a robot.
- xkorbin, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2This was refreshing! --- It had only been a month but I almost forgot about it!

- doctechnical, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Duct tape.
- Badmotorfinger, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I vote this becomes the official criteria for what is a robot and isn't.
- Biznarie, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1Agreed, misleading title. I expected to see some cool robots instead butchered typewriters. Also how does this belong in the hardware section? Seems more like art to me.
- Anonchrist, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Bender; it is what he calls his penis after the accident.
- aolshove, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Throwing the sacred r-word around and applying it to sculptures that can't even decide between car and humanoid victim really pisses nerds off to no end. Keep this up and we... er _they_ will code our... er _their_ actual robots to seek out and destroy any art form entitled "robot" which is incapable of defending itself. Artists have been warned.
- superbrad, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I could not be happier that comments like these have migrated into digg :) +1!!!
- Slade605, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1Man with that new 14.4kps modem you've got I'm sure you could load like....this site in that time...
/s - CharlesSaint, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Yes, but the other one was submitted by Mr. BabySpamMan. Therefore, I choose to digg this one, and bury the other.
- imitokay, on 10/13/2008, -3/+3Isn't this a repost? maybe I sawd it somewhere else (bad spelling/grammar intended)
- gaqua, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2Good art should be "wow, what a beautiful piece - and look, it's made in an interesting way!" and not "this is made in an interesting way and thus it's good art."
The aesthetic value of the thing should be paramount in visual art. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Did anyone else look at the mini thumbnail on the front page and think it had a giant robot penis?
- homesickalien, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2"I do not solder, weld, or glue these assemblages together- the process is entirely cold assembly."
Beautiful. - vinceislegend, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Go Go Gadget Artwork
- RSMiller, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2Hot?
- GummiColossus, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2Creativity at its best.
- sloane01, on 10/23/2008, -0/+0thats really cool! I noticed in Thailand they make huge robots and other creatures out of old auto parts...wouldn't mind one for home :)
- gyrfalcon, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Not recycled, just turned into another form of junk.
- lauridsd, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Booo! These are sculptures...not robots.
- dantheman003, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1lol....i like it except its position is a bit weird..
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/13/2008, -4/+3in soviet russia, typewriters create you!
- geogob, on 10/13/2008, -3/+2Creative and interesting work, but I wouldn't call a sculpture a "robot". It's a little like saying a painting is an HDTV...
- LiquidBeats, on 10/13/2008, -3/+2i'm pretty sure this is a re-post from a few weeks ago, still cool though.
- TypeEE, on 10/13/2008, -2/+1Need more typewriters to pump up those perky *****.
- MLisa, on 10/13/2008, -2/+1I agree they are sculptures, of some sort. They are not beautiful or even thought provoking. Art, should in some way, transport the imagination of the viewer. These sculptures do not. They appear as a WORK of art. As in: a lot of work went into them and very little thought. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see no beauty here.
- xjonnyx134, on 10/13/2008, -5/+3Dugg for roboobs
- Fhwqhgads, on 10/13/2008, -3/+1At least typewriters still have SOME kind of purpose.
