- dystra, on 07/02/2009, -4/+67are any of these comments real?
- Intertron, on 07/02/2009, -2/+58Something about computers on Digg? Weird.
- Ouze, on 07/02/2009, -1/+50Nice to see a tech article on Digg, even if it is a thinly disguised ad.
- Ouze, on 07/02/2009, -4/+52$415, wtf - that's nearly twice the price of their standard x58 board which benchmarks virtually identically. It's like paying almost $200 for a dongle that shows your boot progress.
- flashcat7777, on 07/02/2009, -7/+36Wow, you don't get old-school Digg posts like this very often anymore. Dugg.
- anexanhume, on 07/02/2009, -5/+33What a lame article. They rave about the anondized LGA-1366 socket being anondized, even though it does absolutely nothing. They go on and on about how cool the 3 way SLI is and they test it with ONE 260? I guess it's hard to run a proper benchmark when you have the collective EVGA dick in your mouth.
Oh, and Tom's Hardware previously showed that the three PCI Express 2.0 configuration is smoke and mirrors, it offers no performance advantage:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/eclipse-plus-n ... - TheInformer, on 07/02/2009, -2/+24I think now I can finally replace my 440BX motherboard.
- KJGJ, on 07/02/2009, -3/+24Yes, it can run Crysis
- assasinine, on 07/02/2009, -5/+26Yes. I hear it has 3x the amount of normal gold.
- itdood, on 07/02/2009, -1/+22I remember when eVGA was an upgrade to CGA.
- MofS, on 08/13/2009, -3/+16lol PhysX
- palmer, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11Exactly. Even if it's spam, it's better than OMG, NFL DRAFT STARTS TODAY!
- pathouston22, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11I had a 440BX in a HP 6370z with a Slot 1 Pentium II 350mhz.
Nerd alert. - cheddaro, on 07/02/2009, -2/+11I can't wait for 2 8pin +12V connectors capable of delivering 600 watts of power.
- Barackalypse, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10600 watts of power to a single socket motherboard is overkill. Intel's i7, the most power hungry chip I am aware of, has a max core amps of 145 with a Vmax of 1.55 V, so at best the processor can use 225 watts (its thermal design power is only 130 watts). The full load of the entire i7 system with 4 gig of ram, 4890 video card, and hard drive in this test as measured at the wall outlet is only 326 watts:

http://users.erols.com/chare/elec.htm - hawkspur, on 07/02/2009, -1/+9Seriously. Not worth the extra cash.
- kevinmoore, on 07/02/2009, -4/+11I hate to think that Hot Hardware's editor has a high school diploma, let alone a college degree. How many mistakes can you find in the last paragraph:
"Outside of the price tag, there's really nothing but good things to say about the board. It's target of being a fully feature-packed, highly overclockable board for enthusiasts rings true in every regard. They don't claim the board is for the budget or mainstream markets. EVGA is pretty straight forward about this being a high-end board. It's pricey, without a doubt, but if you want everything that the Intel X58 platform has to offer, the EVGA X58 3X SLI Classified motherboard will deliver it and then some perhaps." - KMartSheriff, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7*checks date to see if it's 2006*
Ad or not, I'm always happy to see tech stuff on Digg. Dugg. - bipolarruledout, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8The best...until next week.
- Ouze, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8The heatsink is like a work of art.
- isunktheship, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5no need to tell the wise, they've already got the proper voltage on their memory
- Beylan, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Think it was the RAM, not the board.
My gigabyte board ate 3 sets of crucial ballistix. That RAM sucked. - KMartSheriff, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6While I totally agree with you, this board is for those that enjoy tweaking and OC'ing like crazy.
- specialbuddy1, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Damn I thought it was best motherboard for the money. Find one for $150 and that would be fine for me.
- ThisIsSkynet, on 07/02/2009, -4/+8Do the new tech articles make the comments suck?
- Duffle, on 07/03/2009, -1/+5So expensive and it doesn't even have a Firewire 800 port.
- Jeebugorn, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4doesnt nvidia have physx built in to their new cards already? if so, why would anyone spending this much money on a motherboard not buy 3 of the newest video cards out and not need a stand alone physx card?
- loneraver, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4Crysis was always a bigger game in talk, it ran fine on more computer than most people gave it credit for. It always ran fine on my computer.
- Beylan, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4"Ballistix" is a Crucial brand, not Corsair.
- barstool, on 07/02/2009, -4/+8If you're gonna spend that much, step it up another $30 and get an Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer. Why have 4 pcie slots when you can have 7 :)
- Kakemonstere, on 07/02/2009, -2/+6Yeh, and now all the people who are not used to these articles is burying it =(
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4Only an idiot would buy this board, the i7 920 will tapout before a P6T or a UD4P does, and by extension it's totally unnecessary.
- Ouze, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5....... you know that virtually no one uses ECC memory, right? That it's only used in server environments, where they will generally be using Xeon processors anyway?
- zzzpoohzzz, on 07/02/2009, -2/+6pc>console in at least 95% of all games
i can't wait to rebuild my computer so i can get newer games - kevinmoore, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Well, that motherboard "will deliver it and then some perhaps."
- palmer, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4ANODIZED, not "anondized"
- Barackalypse, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4Except that circuit breaker is supplying power at 110 volts to your computer power supply which changes it to 12, 5 and 3.3 volt DC. Your processor is only running at around 1.55 volts and if its thermal design power is 130 watts, that would represent 83 amps to achieve that, so the maximum is going to be substantially higher than that.
- SneakyNinja, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4Ugh... that was TERRIBLE.
- jaxter2010, on 07/02/2009, -13/+16This must be that new "digg ads" we've been hearing about.
- Davers, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Uhh... the cheapo ASUS P6T beat this board in this story's game benchmarks...
- AbeX, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Did you research the ram? Just to newagg, amazon, tiger direct or any other online seller that has reviews and you'll the the failure rate for the Ballistix ram is quite high. Regular crucial seems to be ok.
- bigplrbear, on 07/02/2009, -6/+9these comments suck
- shadowmoose, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3Best i7 motherboard you can buy doesn't exist. They are going to be worthless once Intel outdates them in November.
- getoffmybridge, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3abit be6-ii
- exxon, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3firewire 400 ???
- DarkShroud, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3ATI cards do not have Physx built in. So even if you're running duel 4870 X2s you'll still need a Physx card if that's important to you.
- Elnegr0grande, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3best overpriced motherboard.
- DarkShroud, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Cuda supported video cards for video editing.
- HHP2K, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4And that is precisely why EVGA actually enlisted the help of the OC community to design this board.
- molotovcat, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Yeah, it does so well that it clearly pulls ahead in benchmarks.
Oh wait.. -
