- RJ0534, on 01/12/2009, -16/+243Children use more energy than plasma televisions. Why don't we ban children?
- yaazz, on 01/12/2009, -16/+148YO DAWG, WE HERD YOU HATE THE ENVIRONMENT SO WE PUT A PLASMA IN YOUR SUV SO YOU CAN POLLUTE WHILE YOU POLLUTE
- akchrs, on 01/12/2009, -20/+144I'll take your banned plasma screen off your hands.
- MAGZine, on 01/12/2009, -17/+136Everything causes pollution/disturbs the (green)peace nowadays.
Google Searching? Pollution.
Plasma TV? Pollution.
Vehicles? Pollution.
Watermelon? Pollution.
Jesus *****' christ. (Pollution) - Vitamin, on 01/12/2009, -0/+99Why? It's not as is they're going to come around and confiscate them!
- Richandler, on 01/11/2009, -49/+141This is *****. Thankfully not here in America.

- akchrs, on 01/12/2009, -4/+85I'm having a tough time coming up with an argument for this.
- muzzymate, on 01/12/2009, -6/+58Just give it time...
- nowise, on 01/12/2009, -4/+55How much CO2 is created from all the CCTVs they use in ye olde England?
- laizzesfaire, on 01/12/2009, -48/+94environmental nuts
- aflaks, on 01/12/2009, -16/+60burried for daily mail. I dont trust any article that comes from there, there is 0 credibility. Until i see this on BBC or a legitimate newspaper, I dont believe it.
- OkCyDe, on 01/12/2009, -1/+38Did you read the article?
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -23/+58Damn cold winter this year... hey, what happened to global warming?
- mirunit, on 01/12/2009, -7/+40Buy a LCD I guess. It is really dumb to dictate what TV people are allowed to buy, if they pay the power bill that is. Also, remember that Nuclear Power has virtually zero carbon emission.
- AReallyGoodName, on 01/12/2009, -3/+34The headline is what's *****, they aren't going to ban all plasma televisions.
You already have the same energy star legislation in America as what's being proposed here. - Phoetality, on 01/12/2009, -7/+37Daily Fail
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -60/+89***** the environment.
- honeymustardn, on 01/12/2009, -6/+35Daily Mail? Goodbye.
- akchrs, on 01/12/2009, -19/+45Wow. Is the daily mail the most watched cable news show in the UK too?
- docbob84, on 01/12/2009, -1/+25You can catch it and prevent it from being released into the atmosphere if you tie a plastic bag over their heads. Just don't wait too long. It's an exact science, you may lose a few before you get it just right.
- RandaII, on 01/12/2009, -2/+25LCDs are getting better but still have a little ways to go to equal the quality of plasmas.
- BassMastr, on 01/12/2009, -4/+27I think everyone needs to read the article. The title is misleading...
- KMye, on 01/12/2009, -2/+22http://digg.com/environment/California_to_Ban_Ener ...
- AWBoy666, on 01/12/2009, -10/+29Government's purpose is not to create inane nanny laws like this one. This is utterly nuts.
- Enigmocracy, on 01/12/2009, -0/+19"Trains get 2-8MPG"
Which, considering how much they carry, is RIDICULOUSLY efficient. - xptoast, on 01/12/2009, -0/+18I'm not all for banning them. Maybe just install some controls on them. You know: volume control, power button, sleep button, don't lip off to me preventative chip. That kind of stuff. Oh well. A parent can dream can't they?
- drn666, on 01/12/2009, -5/+22Plasma offers less ghosting, far better real contrast, better blacks (rather than the dark greys of even the best LCD monitors) and no mura (which all LCD's seem to have - the XBR's are notorious for them).
If you can afford it in the size you want, plasma is -always- the better option in a home theatre environment.
The only time LCD is a better choice is when you're watching TV in a brightly lit room... at which point the flare gun brightness of an LCD is required to cut through the ambient lighting. - mickstephenson, on 01/12/2009, -10/+27ATTENTION MORONS - they aren't banned from use, they are introducing standards so manufacturers have to create more energy efficient sets, if you own one, you can still use it, you just won't be able to get a new one.
- Daxx22, on 01/12/2009, -1/+17Posting on Digg? Pollution.
- YoWhatDaFuxUp, on 01/11/2009, -22/+38They're just doing this so you have to buy carbon credits to offset your TV's energy consumption...
stupid idea - schnikies79, on 01/12/2009, -1/+16Sounds good to me!
- dissolutionman, on 01/12/2009, -9/+24I find it funny how only you right-wing nutjobs actually call him that.
- tchynerd, on 01/12/2009, -2/+17Touching yourself? Pollution
- Evilblobs, on 01/12/2009, -5/+19global warming became climate change after 'the people' figured out that not everything was getting warmer.
global warming=BS
climate change=real
now whether or not its caused by humans.... - Sonizel, on 01/12/2009, -12/+26because it's cold
- jlau85, on 01/12/2009, -3/+17In an ideal home theater setup, plasmas still hold the edge on LCDs.
- AReallyGoodName, on 01/12/2009, -1/+14For those that still won't read the article:
The idea given in the headline that all plasma televisions will be banned is completely made up.
What's being proposed isn't a ban on plasma televisions at all. They are proposing an energy star rating system in the European Union. Similar to what exists in the US. Products that fall off the bottom of the scale of the energy star rating system will be banned. - erkokite, on 01/12/2009, -0/+13"Liberals," is 8 letters. "Liberal," is seven.
- assbeard, on 01/12/2009, -0/+13Pfff, WRONG
- Fuckmypooplease, on 01/12/2009, -1/+13Yes but we shouldn't be supporting the paper in any way.
I'd much rather an article on the same story from the independent than the Mail. At least the independent won't throw in the obligatory MUSLIMS ARE COMING! *****! in practically every article. - Soave, on 01/12/2009, -5/+17Okay, but that doesn't mean you have to ban them. Just don't buy one if you don't want it.
- RevoltPuppy, on 01/12/2009, -0/+12It's not like you'll have to buy a new set once the ban sets in; the ban is only covering new plasmas from being sold.
- ryanatkin, on 01/12/2009, -1/+13you need to think about how many people get moved by that 1 mpg airplane. If it gets 1mpg and moves 200 people that one mile on that one gallon than it saves more fuel than you driving a 25mpg car with 2 people in it.
- ultrafez, on 01/12/2009, -1/+13Nah, at least The Sun does actually contain news (for what it's worth) - The Daily Mail is just full of utter consumerist ***** that your Gran will cut out and post to you.
- Barackalypse, on 01/12/2009, -6/+18How long until the Government just decides how many kilowatt hours of electricity you are allowed to use per month and just shuts your power off when you reach that amount? Or do they intend to just ban anything they consider as using "too much" electricity?
- akchrs, on 01/12/2009, -6/+17He put quotes around it because Louis Farrakhan said it. But then I guess Louis Farrakhan is a right wing nut job.
- mardraum, on 01/12/2009, -4/+15oh ***** it's spelled xzibit, I knew I was missing something.
