- SomeImagination, on 11/11/2007, -0/+16Aww whos a cute little jet? you are thats right cuchie cuchie coo!
- insllvn, on 11/11/2007, -0/+13Hey, we may suck at a lot of things, but we are pretty ***** good at war. Occupation on the other hand........ but war we can do.
- late2digg, on 11/06/2007, -8/+21If you can do without the quad 50 cals, the BD-5J is smallest jet (.8m shorter and 1500 kg lighter).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BD-5J - dominoman44, on 11/06/2007, -1/+12I have a real appreciation for articles that have both relevant content and visual appeal.
- Dogtanian, on 11/05/2007, -0/+9Read it again: "and a propeller (or jet engine in the BD-5J variant) in the rear". Also, underneath the bloody picture of the bloody wikipedia link "Guinness Record Holder, The World's Smallest Jet".
Christ. - markp93, on 11/05/2007, -0/+9Not exactly a fighter jet, though...
- DeucesWild, on 11/06/2007, -0/+8I just reread Chuck Yeagers autobiography this weekend and he talked about this plane briefly. Basically what he said was that the test pilot they had flying this thing sucked and had no clue how to fly in formation and thus the reason he crashed into the trapeze.
It's a great book if you haven't read it. He also rips into to other bad pilots like Neil Armstrong and Joe Walker who's lack of formation flying Chuck said caused his death and the B-70 he crashed into. - ohsin, on 11/05/2007, -3/+10Here is another one. Vought XF5U

hats off to those test pilots who agreed to fly these weird machines ;-) - themangeraaad, on 11/05/2007, -0/+7http://duggmirror.com/hardware/Pictures_World_s_Sm ...
- benbread, on 11/06/2007, -1/+7Let's see if we can squeeze Clarkson into it...
- stuy486, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6This is just downright annoying.
The link doesn't even work anyways. - inactive, on 11/06/2007, -1/+7I did not know this. Thank you for this information.
- eternal464, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6they just need bigger motherships. its like the beginning of starwars. nerds rejoice!
- conchur, on 11/06/2007, -0/+6From the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article you obviously failed to read: "a propeller (or jet engine in the BD-5J variant) in the rear"
- DeucesWild, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5No Joe Walkers death. Chucks alive and well and having fun with his new wife thats 36 years younger and suing three of his kids.
- bitrot, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5So I take it you didn't actually read the article? It was armed with four .50 caliber machine guns, and its purpose was to protect the bomber that carried it from enemy fighters. Unfortunately its performance and armament weren't really up to the task, and that combined with the difficulty of recovering it in flight lead to the project being dropped.
- Orihara, on 11/06/2007, -0/+5Yeah, but without the quad .50s, you don't have a fighter. You have a target.
- insllvn, on 11/06/2007, -2/+7If you read the bloody summary in the bloody wikipedia article he linked to you would have bloody well learned that the plane pictured is the BD-5 which is prop driven. The BD-5J a variation on the original which uses a bloody jet engine in place of the bloody prop. I wonder if that is what the bloody J stands for? What the bloody hell do you think?
- johnnall, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5Here is a pic of the XF-85 with it's recovery hook deployed. I took the picture at the S.A.C. museum in Nebraska.
http://www.thenalls.com/images/63910002.jpg - inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+4I remember the first time I walked up to an F-16. I was amazed at how small it was.
- OakRidger, on 11/11/2007, -0/+4You want small - climb into the augmentor on a 16, an hour after shutdown, and change the flameholder. :)
- gyrfalcon, on 11/05/2007, -0/+4If you're going to rip on the U.S.A. you might be a tad bit brighter and pick something they actually suck at... like making cheese
- hammerattack, on 11/06/2007, -2/+6You know... people like you are why I don't support Ron Paul anymore.
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+3Best know for it's ass-warming feature. It often gets outta control though.
- stupergenius, on 11/06/2007, -1/+4I like pancakes.
- jull1234, on 11/05/2007, -0/+3Parasite fighters... what an awesome concept.
- ronniemiller, on 05/03/2009, -0/+3This fighter jet is featured in the expansion pack for Battlefield 1942, "Secret Weapons of WWII"
Here's a screenshot from the game:

- moskaudancer, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Amen to that, I had my first "real" cheese (Dutch) the other day; put Wisconsin's stuff to shame.
- neonpulse, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2You beat me to it. That expansion also has the German jetpacks :]
- digudown, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Its interesting that the smalled fighter of this generation is 43ft !!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Tejas - howdareyou, on 11/06/2007, -1/+3Video is 29.97 frames per second, film is 24. And Youtube is probably only 15 fps.
- SmokeMeAKipper, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2I like the ones they used with the Airship in the 30's. Similar to the ones in the game crimson Skies.
- Patogrande, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2It's the ziggy!
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2Get a brain, moran. http://lonewacko.com/images/get-a-brain-morans.jpg
- insllvn, on 11/05/2007, -1/+3Chuck Yeager covered his own death in his autobiography? What a badass.
- antdude, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1YouTube video link mentioned in the article (very slow): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PisUjsXSUZU
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1ok, it's now about 2 3rds of what is posted on the front page down on the remote server. what gives.
- Xondar, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1They work for the Protoss!
- cawpin, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PisUjsXSUZU
- vonskippy, on 11/05/2007, -0/+1The History Channel called - they'd like you to stop using their material.
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -1/+2Then you should say so, instead of saying something that just begs to be flamed. Better yet, just find them yourself: http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=e ...
