- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+54What's remarkable is that the aircraft engines ran off of pure vodka.

- toolegittoquit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20That truck would be good for picking up girls in Minsk. Da! Da!
- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Funny to think many CIA "Bothans" would've had to die for these type of pictures a couple of decades ago.
- dinostabOMG, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21NERD FIGHT
- zenlunatic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18If they were just sitting around in America there would be a lot of parts on ebay.
- GraceHead, on 10/10/2007, -25/+37If only the old weapons were not replaced by new ones, and the nations raged no more ...
- Flashman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Hey, don't talk about Digg like that.
- bencefeher, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I would get the hell out of the way if I saw that mothertrucker raging down the streets in my neighborhood.
- ostracize, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Mirror that bitch up:

- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13What a waste of money and resources. A sad and shameful side of mankind.
- DestroyFascism, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9So did the ground crew apparently............
- thatsiebguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8In Soviet Russia, Vodka runs you!
- ducttapehero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yea there is, pic 21. That is a MiG-29 in the background behind the MiG-15.

http://www.warbirdalley.com/images/mig17.jpg - MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Yeah, I thought Nicholas Cage sold all the Russian crap that was laying around in that movie Lord of War...
- toddhenkel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I am sure Putin is building more...
- terath, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5They were practical. If something was shown to work, why not use it. But at the same time, they built a ton of stuff that the US couldn't beat at the time. For instance, the MIG. They were also the first with a satellite in orbit. So let's not try and suggest that only the US can innovate. I'm sure that's not what you were doing.
- legendxx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7dugg for the star wars reference
- OwdenBowden, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Kind of surprised not to see these items on ebay.
- baalzebub, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4most all aircraft is made from aluminum & titanium & magnesium all of which wont rust, i did see some rivets that were apparently rusting (steel)
- NTolerance, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I'm not talking about private ownership, more like museums, parts recycling, thrill rides, etc...
- macbookpromat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I would kill to have a functioning Mig-25 (and the skill to fly an aircraft).
- NTolerance, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The only thing shameful is that these are left to rot. Military hardware has tons of peaceful uses. Wouldn't it be great if these jets were given back to the people who paid for them?
- joelito, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4For starters, the F-14 is not cheaper to operate than the f-18E/F Super Hornet, and it's even more expensive compared to the F-18C/D Hornets. And the size of the F-14 means that you can't load as many F-14 as F-18 in the carriers. And what good is a plane that must stay in the hangar longer than in the air anyway?
- elvenseven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Now turn that thing into a LIMOCOPTER!
- BabyWookie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4At least their main rocket designer, Korolev, was a Russian and not a former Nazi like our Von Broun and unlike our shuttles, Buran landed itself, among several other improvements. Korolev's Soyuz design is still the safest, most efficient way to delivering ***** into orbit. They might have beat us to the Moon, if Korolev didn't suddenly die in 1966.
- akatherder, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6They also double as action shots from the French military in the middle of an invasion.
- DestroyFascism, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4imagines taking a girl for a "spin" in a mig at 1800 kl/h
- dmkemick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4This reminds me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., very cool.
- warped, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Um, have you never seen the boneyard in Arizona? We have more dieing military planes than anyone.
Here is the first link I googled pics from http://travel.webshots.com/album/549007747VlBFZE - Kinjiru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yes thtere is a Mig-29 there (http://kolob.amerikos.ru/abandonedaircraft/21.jpg) which is more than likely an early prototype and/or dammaged airframe (it does happen you know).
And there is a Mig-25 FoxBat (http://kolob.amerikos.ru/abandonedaircraft/20.jpg)
and what appears to be ass end pix of SU-33s (http://kolob.amerikos.ru/abandonedaircraft/23.jpg) - Kinjiru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3links w/o the parentheses for those too stupid to get past them like KniteWulf

- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You mean LOLCOPTER
- BillyB0b, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If all the nations did this at once, great otherwise the first nation to try this new philosophy would get wiped off the face of the earth.
- strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You're being buried because of your poor sentence structure, lack of capitalization, misspelling of many words, and sloppy grammar.
- MrPig, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4It's C/C++/PHP/Java/nearly everything else syntex and I think on Digg, it's VERY valid.
- halligan00, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4For some strange reason, on my way to work this morning, I was trying to remember what the species of spy was. And why the other species didn't catch on.
- MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Oh, right, because giving all the citizens their own MiGs wouldn't cause ANY problems... That plan would blow up in your face... F'ing literally.
- pinetec, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7@GraceHead
Wishful thinking. Too much money involved. - spawnfree, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2there are actually not that many greedy psychos who kill for their booty.
most are just liars and cheats. - bmalnad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Concordsky!
- bigteebo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind having that Mi-24. Shame some of these gunships & planes aren't restored and put in museums. Looks like there's enough there to populate several aviation museums.
I mean heck, couldn't you restore the Mi-24 for cargo/rescue? - strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You don't have to kill anyone. You can buy them. Usually people buy two actually, one for parts, one to fly. You can find a number of older fighter jets for sale in a number of pilot trade mags.
