- rmw132, on 02/26/2008, -2/+123Its pretty pathetic that in the final days they are only offering 40% off...a local furniture store that has only been going out of business for two weeks is already at 50%...
- tpawloski, on 02/26/2008, -5/+125Looks the same as it did when they were in business.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+59Yeah, but furniture stores are always going out of sale. I think the first thing a furniture store owner does when they open up is put up a "liquidation: everything must go!" sign.
- ygrof, on 02/26/2008, -0/+44My local CompUSA got replaced by a Micro Center. It was /awesome/.
- FromAtoZinc, on 02/26/2008, -3/+46I got a $100 logitech optical mouse for $2! What a bargain!
- vvaduva, on 02/26/2008, -2/+42This is not sad, this is competition. CompUSA's customer service sucked. This is the payback for years of taking advantage of customers and treating them poorly.
- jdpeek0, on 02/26/2008, -3/+39Not so fast people. Compusa is going to REOPEN stores. I recently got notice in the mail, letting me know that I was still offered a job at the NEW Compusa.
- mklopez, on 02/26/2008, -0/+31My local store slashed prices to 70-90% in their last 2 days. I got a camcorder battery for one dollar, and a USB beverage chiller (usually $20) for a little over $2
- Gantos, on 02/26/2008, -4/+35Why are the lights still on?
- mark076h, on 02/26/2008, -1/+31the one near my place went out like 2 years ago, i wish FRYS would expand across the country
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/26/2008, -3/+32Reminds me of Radio Shack.
- itsradBrad, on 02/26/2008, -2/+31"See you in hell motha *****!"
- goat2, on 02/26/2008, -0/+282 pictures? gimme a break
- riscpilot, on 02/26/2008, -0/+20taken from the NEW!!! compusa.com site :
Note: The All-New CompUSA is opening 16 stores spring 2008. The All-New stores will bare the new CompUSA.com logo. All other CompUSA retail stores are under liquidation by it's owners and are not affiliated with the new CompUSA.com - grewell912, on 02/26/2008, -1/+20*****, you mean tigerdirect.com look at http://tigerdirect.com then look at compusa.com
- sigmaman2, on 02/26/2008, -0/+18Even with the 40% markdowns, my local FRY's still beat their prices.
- subsistenc3, on 02/26/2008, -0/+17My bawls?
(I'm sorry) - MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/26/2008, -1/+17They have to abide by legal and safety regulations while they operate their business even on the last day.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/26/2008, -0/+15my thoughts exactly upon reading the title.
- blah247, on 02/26/2008, -1/+16Back in '96 when I was an 'all in one' IT support guy for a small local company. I used to really start disliking my job so I would take little day adventures over to the local CompUSA just to make myself feel better. No matter how much I hated what I was doing going to CompUSA would remind me that it could be worse.
- MoneyShot, on 02/26/2008, -0/+14You really want to work for Tiger Direct?
- staxofmax, on 02/26/2008, -0/+14I went to one of their going out of business sales, and they were selling the ceiling mounted PA speakers, the light fixtures, and a Pentium II laptop the found God-knows-where. It was pretty pathetic.
- phutcherso, on 02/26/2008, -1/+15I worked at a CompUSA for five months... I hated working there... can you imagine spending more than eight hours in that place.. it was hell. The customers were normally mean but only because they were paying $50 for a printer cable. Man CompUSA sucked. Good riddance is right!
- inactive, on 02/26/2008, -1/+15You're cool. But not 4 popped collars cool
- icexe, on 02/26/2008, -0/+13so true.. every single weekend for the past 6 years I see the same people standing on the street corner holding up Liquidation Sale signs for the same furniture store....
- ryanhayn, on 02/26/2008, -0/+13Aww..this brings back memories of working at Tower Records when they were closing...and how I'd steal dozens of CD's each day :(
- Gatesophile, on 02/26/2008, -0/+13At the CompUSA in here in Schaumburg, IL they were selling absolutely everything, used and abused CAT-5 cables used for the store's own computers, light fixtures, signs, a huge clock on the wall, everything that they could get out of there they sold.
- sexybobo, on 02/26/2008, -1/+14Micro Center FTW
- Userfaulty, on 02/26/2008, -0/+12I love FRYS..The closest ones are 8+ hours from me though. I feel a road trip coming up soon :) I just wish they would open up here locally and put Best Buy out of business.
- ApokalypseNow, on 02/26/2008, -0/+12Bawls was the one reason I ever went into a CompUSA, with the exception of their store-closing sales. I was a little pissed off, but the next day I went to buy groceries and noticed Bawls for sale in the store.
And there was much rejoicing. - BridgeBurner, on 02/26/2008, -0/+11Screw that, they deserve what they got for making terrible decisions. Pulling stores out of major metropolitan areas...good lord...who ever made that one must have gotten their degree from a box of lucky charms.
- deltron, on 02/26/2008, -3/+14I've been getting 12 cases of Bawl's for 3 dollars at my CompUSA. Go check yours out :)
- Ecsa0014, on 02/26/2008, -0/+11At my local store, Even with the 40% off, The prices are still higher than the other computer & electronics stores in my area.
- ricksite, on 02/26/2008, -0/+11Were they trying to sell service plans for the used stuff? That wouldn't surprise me.
- fluxion, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9you gotta hand it to them though, they stuck to their guns (ridiculous price mark-ups) even till the very end
- IllBeBack, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9Bonus shot "after the jump". WTF is up with gizmodo.com and saying "after the jump"? What does that even mean?
- haydesigner, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9Well, if you insist, we will bury you.
- Lazydriver, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8Yes, and Fry's is cheaper then Best Buy. WAY cheaper, and it has more of what you need.
- inactive, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8Blah..place sucked anyways.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 02/26/2008, -4/+12It's not the case anymore but pre-iPod days CompUSA was one of the only chains (if not the only chain) to carry Apple stuff. Once I moved into a town that didn't have one I was F-ed if I wanted anything Apple. If your an Apple user you should respect the fact that this store caried your stuff when no one gave an *****. I used to get laughed at at Best Buy when Apple was in the dumps and now they have an entire Apple set up. I still get bothered by that.
Anyways I thought they weren't actually going out of business? I thought someone saved them or something. - degron, on 02/26/2008, -2/+10I sure would like to have that buggy.
- OrangeTide, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8*ALL* furniture stores are going out of business. I've seen ones where they had to put up fresh "going out of business" signs up because the old ones were too sun bleached to be convincing.
- Kericr, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8I have one thing to say about this:
EVERY DAY'S A GREAT DAY AT COMPUSA! HUH! - CarzorStelatis, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7Aww, shame I'm a few (thousand) miles away. I could get that huge clock and stick it on the side of my house :P
- inactive, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8I picked up an Antec 900 case for $20.
- Userfaulty, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7yes I have shopped there, and yes the person that "helped" me was as bright as a brick. However, he didnt feed me a bunch of ***** and suggest warranties and cabling I have no need for. I would much rather have a retard from Frys help me than a popped collar douchebag from Best Buy that only knows ***** about what he's selling from reading the tag on the shelf.
- OrangeTide, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7I picked up a fork lift for $14.
- StealthMonkey, on 02/26/2008, -3/+10So when do they redirect compusa.com to newegg.com ?
- intangible, on 02/26/2008, -2/+8Like CompUSA but even worse prices; sign me up!
