- abbott75, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I hope they don't change the Nokia UI, thats one of the main reasons I buy them.
- Vision77, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Seeing that Symbian is one of the top 3 cellphone operating systems, I don't see the "Nokia UI" going anywhere. I think a couple of Siemens phones had the Symbian OS.
- Udon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Their network technology functions merged - not the phones.
- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2its the only reason i buy them
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the nokia ui has BEEN changed. check out their new flip phone. probably the most disappointing phones i've ever used.
actually they started turning crappy when the release color phones before they were ready. any phone that has a delay between pushing the "menu" button and seeing the menu is garbage. if you want a really awesome phone, get the nokia 8890 (in the states you need t-mobile i believe)
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1This still has to be approved by the appropriate levels of government before it goes through. I don't think it'll be a straight merger.
- Udon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Finnish news websites say it is a joint company for their network technologies. Not phones. The company's name will be "Nokia Siemens Networks".
- nox327, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Didn't Siemens already sell their mobile division to BenQ, I guess this is their whole telecommunications division at Siemens.
edit: Yeah it is the telecommunications business, not cell phone.

- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was about to say this,
We get BenQSiemens phones in the UK, so what will it be now - BenQNokiaSiemens?
- acespades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is an area that both companies are really weak. The big player is Ericsson by far.
- archerx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1so will we be using nokia's siemens? hurrrrr
- noGoodNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You blew it.... the joke line should have been something like "...although presented as a merger, this is in reality a takeover which will see Nokia swallowing Siemens."
And I was only going to say that to pre-empt all the third-rate adolescent jokes which I *knew* would follow as soon as I read the headline. Honest.

- figvam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Weird, I believe Siemens already sold their mobile phone business to BenQ an year ago:
http://www.benq-siemens.com/- nox327, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5can't you read, that question has been raised above and answered, its not the phone business, but the network.
- schurkenstadt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's about their carrier business, not about the private customer market. Read the fine article before you post.
