- skateboard1, on 03/04/2008, -11/+139I never understood the trend toward flimsy expensive electronics. I want my tools to be rugged, long lasting. My HP Pavilion is 2 years old and has hit the ground hard enough to break pieces off. Tough! I'll want my next one to be tougher not thinner.
- Bwackv, on 03/04/2008, -4/+96I want to be able to beat mine when I'm mad as hell and not have it break...
- docbaily, on 03/04/2008, -5/+76Who needs a manila envelope when there's a handle?

- zephc, on 03/04/2008, -7/+67I can't keep up with Dell's break-neck innovation pace.

- diggB, on 03/04/2008, -2/+54FTA, "And, unlike the Air, the D630 is expensive -- pricing starts at $3,899. " Doh! For that price, couldn't you buy a Thinkpad and then 2 more as a backup?
- inactive, on 03/04/2008, -1/+51I don't understand why we're comparing two completely different products aimed at two completely distinct customers. Oh right, page views.
- KewlerKid3, on 03/04/2008, -2/+49Who needs air anyway....
- catachip, on 03/04/2008, -5/+45Same reason not every one wants to drive a utility van. While functional, many people appreciate form and aesthetics in the products that they use every day. Don't discount that, Apple is making a fortune by selling products to these people.
- colincornaby, on 03/04/2008, -6/+45The Air isn't exactly meant to perform well in the first place...
- northernmonkee, on 03/04/2008, -12/+49Guy with a Mac stole your last girlfriend maybe? You seem to have a serious chip on your shoulder there.
Chill out. - inactive, on 03/04/2008, -40/+76Who cares what it looks like? When I buy technology, I buy it so it performs a function for me. Not because I can take it to a coffee shop, and think I can pick-up chicks with it. Seriously, when was the last time anybody complimented you on a piece of technology you were holding? Do you really think some girl is going to start blowing you because you have some shiny, silvery piece of overpriced *****?
The MacBook Air is just another in a long line of Apple products meant for idiots who are willing to spend money for shiny garbage.
***** douchebags. - mearom, on 03/04/2008, -6/+32the macbook air is cheap?
- krahzee, on 03/04/2008, -4/+28Dunkin blows Starbucks burnt ass coffee out of the water. Oh and ***** the calories, I'll take a cheap Boston cream dunkin doughnut over and wierd ***** carot cake ***** thing Starbucks sells at $2 plus per slice.
- Topher06, on 03/04/2008, -2/+24Guess what the guys over at CTU are going to be using next season!
- korea, on 03/04/2008, -6/+27Dell products are also for IT professionals, computer labs, and hospitals across the country.
What are Panasonic Toughbooks for? Please try to relate it to coffee. - ispeakasian, on 03/04/2008, -6/+26That thing looks exactly like my 10 year old Toshiba Protege when it's attached to its base.
- idavidcrockett, on 03/04/2008, -3/+23Buried for using the Air to promote a totally unrelated Dell product
- meruru, on 03/04/2008, -27/+47It's a thing of beauty. It performs and looks better than the Air
- kinseyincanada, on 03/05/2008, -1/+21you can pour 6 ounces of you ***** coffee on a toughbook
- tbunreal, on 03/04/2008, -4/+23Well, what else can it do besides empty your pocket?
- kick, on 03/04/2008, -1/+19Everyone has a bit of that angry German kid in them.
- h0v3rb1k3s, on 03/04/2008, -4/+19But this analogy fails because unlike a van, this laptop is also a major performance upgrade over most competitors. It's definitely fun over fashion in this case.
- maliath, on 03/05/2008, -3/+18I tried to digg you earlier but that spinny clown wheel cursor on my Mac kept ***** turning around and around. I had to restart.
- superkendall, on 03/04/2008, -16/+30Try actually picking up an Air. Flimsy it is not, not at all.
- Condemned, on 03/05/2008, -0/+14Apparently there is no CTU next season...
- korea, on 03/04/2008, -1/+15This commenter is not discounting or even addressing Apple making a fortune selling 'pretty' shiny things. He/She just doesn't understand why people are trending toward liking "flimsy expensive electronics". Electronics can be rugged while having aesthetic appeal. Isn't that why so many toolboxes on college campuses are head-to-toe in branded mountain climbing clothes?
- webcrumb, on 03/05/2008, -1/+14I'm sorry, but how is a laptop you can drop, kick, drop kick, drop out of a window, drop kick out of window, not cool? It may not be chic, but it has industrial cool. If I was one to frequent coffee shops, I'd have the Dell to say "I'm the rugged outdoor type, who just happens to buy expensive equipment that will see me through my next trek through the Kalahari." I prefer that over the "I spend money on a bandwagon product so I look like everyone else trying to be cool."
- inactive, on 03/04/2008, -3/+16Funny how nobody is looking at JUST the stats of this computer and saying how it's overpriced ($4k), but that's all people do with the Air.
With the Air, you're paying for an impossibly small form factor. With this Dell, you're paying for toughness. Is it really that hard to understand? - bryik, on 03/04/2008, -3/+16Are we talking about women, because some of them can cook.
- jaxter2010, on 06/17/2009, -0/+13I tip my hat to you sir. Its about time someone called out that carrot cake *****.
- echinatl, on 03/05/2008, -0/+12Your company should stop hiring idiots.
- mrsteve007, on 03/05/2008, -3/+15The air is garbage for the cost. Get a Dell XT. It's only .5 lbs heavier, and .5 inch thicker, but the overall footprint is quite a bit *smaller* than the Air. It has much more processing power than the AIR and with the optional battery, it'll last 11 hours on a charge. And the real kicker, it's a multi-touch capable tablet. Depending on Dell's discounts, you can get it for sub $2k too.
- DrMickhead, on 03/05/2008, -5/+16Congratulations, you've named all the games that have come out for Mac since 2005.
- ultrafez, on 03/05/2008, -2/+13Heat?
- ichchappycat, on 03/04/2008, -5/+16I always wanted to take my Macbook, cell phones, iPods, etc. to a body shop and have them put a coat of Rhino Liner on them. I guess this is the same kind of thing only professionally done so that it doesn't effect the computing speeds, etc.
- Harbinger67, on 03/05/2008, -0/+11Flimsy isn't the word. Try fragile. The Air feels solid when you're just picking it up and typing on it, but I defy you to tell me that it would take a fall off of a desk and live to tell the tale.
- VelvetoneFusion, on 03/05/2008, -0/+10so, Airs are cheap? Is there some awesome Air store that I just haven't seen yet that gives them away?
- banmaster, on 03/05/2008, -4/+14Sorry, but with no conectivity or optical drive the air is a complete waste of time for anybody who doesn't sniff their own farts and jerk off to pics of a turtleneck enshrouded Steve Jobs.
Its an underpowered spanky machine for the mac faithful who have never had any self esteem, instead replacing it with a sickening emotional dependance on a corporate computer manufacturer. - legendxx, on 03/04/2008, -4/+13Why would a 3rd party applying Rhino Liner affect the computing speeds?
- bobcrotch, on 03/05/2008, -1/+10The author of this blog is the same tool who was crying about external hard drives dieing on him. Lame.
- Jimmeeee, on 03/05/2008, -0/+9Agreed on that front. I think the Air looks okay, but this thing looks badass!
- pathy, on 03/04/2008, -5/+14I don't know about you guys, but damn, that looks pretty ***** cool to me.
- inactive, on 03/05/2008, -7/+16This just in: everybody else is not you
What kind of car do you drive, by the way? Ah well, it must not matter, considering you go everywhere in plain white Wal-Mart t-shirts and Salvation Army jeans. - chingy1788, on 03/05/2008, -0/+9Panasonic Toughbooks
for the brave men and women drinking coffee while taking on your nation's enemies (didn't it take a bullet) - bullsfan03, on 03/04/2008, -1/+9damn not being able to edit my comment right now, Panasonic Toughbook.
- breakah, on 03/05/2008, -2/+10No rocket launch pods.. anti-air my ass.
- superkendall, on 03/04/2008, -20/+28I was right there with you until you started claiming the Air is garbage.
The Air is a really practical computer for someone that wants a very lightweight computer that is easy to travel with, sturdy, and easy to use. If you TRULY do not care about looks, then why do you care so much that it also looks good?
I, like most other people. buy Apple products not because they look good but because they work really well. Until you can get past your shallow obsession with looks, you'll never really be open to understanding when something is really useful or not. - wphj, on 03/05/2008, -1/+8HA!
I wear contacts. -
