- SebHughes, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10Me wants one.
- wenomspitta, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7If you buy the xp version you are officially a retard
- Birdoftruth, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4I'm going to college for Fall 08' and I was on the fence between this and the black Macbook. But since I just read that still can't even get 2 hours over, I am going to have to settle for the Macbook.
- YodaJones, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Very clever that they made the XP and Linux configurations cost the same but made the Linux version with more memory. Hat off to Asus.
- JAVandiver, on 04/16/2008, -1/+4Tell me about it! I have been having holding off on a 701 for the 900. I really want a UMPC for my summer adventures.
- NoNamesLeft, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3I only have Macs for work reasons but that thing is so darn small and sexy I am thinking I want one just to play with (with Linux of course). Off topic but I still don't understand what Apple were thinking with the Macbook Air(head), overpriced and too big - who really cares about thinness when the thing is basically the same size as a normal laptop?
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3If I could put OSX on it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Have to talk to the hackintosh community later...
- diggB, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Though the US price hasn't been officially set, the cost in dollars for both models (XP with 12G and Linux with 20G) will be around $500.

Although the ideal setup would be a full size desktop (iMac is only $100-200 more than a macbook) AND an ultraportable like the EeePC. - Jorlwind, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I'm never getting another Apple laptop due to the hardware issues my Macbook gave me. I might consider getting a Toshiba or one of these EeePCs next. It's your decision though.
Word from the wise: get Applecare. From my experience, the machines tend to have some(read: a lot of) failures, and unless you have applecare like I did you'll get reamed in the ass with some pretty big repair bills. - mooninite, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Do you live in the UK? They won't be on sale in the US for a while. By then I bet the 6-cell battery and/or Atom model will be out for improved battery life.
- Zalo81, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1I'm waiting for the black version with the Intel Atom chip. Also, the battery life is worrying me. 3 hours? I've seen the U.S. price will be $549. If Asus wants to improve sales, they will have to drop the price below $500. Especially for a Linux version, which is the one I want.
- diggB, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't hold my breath for the Atom version to be out anytime soon, especially by this Fall.
- geoken, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2Why don't you settle for a pen and paper.
- karltonDance, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1There are a few of videos on youtube of people that have gotten OSX on the 701:

It's only a matter of time until some enterprising computer guy figures out how to get it on the 900s - SimonHawkin, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I am almost sold on it. However, I will first check out HP 2133. Also, there is a rumor of Dell getting into the game; that should be interesting.
- mike, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1I know I already have a desktop, and a MacBook Pro...but yeah...I want one of these bad.
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Mine would...
- cognizance8, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2just seems like kind of a strange choice to try and match the macbook up with a eee...
one you can almost get away with not having a desktop, the other you can't (especially not for the multimedia-needy college student).
I still don't understand how anyone can justify having a laptop as their primary computer when you can buy a desktop that matches the performance for a quarter of the price (a desktop/laptop comparison that is worth having). - GuyRCook, on 04/17/2008, -0/+0The wait is over, now have to find the $500 for this great new tool. When I saw the 4G older model, I was expecting to see these new features, and pleasantly surprised at how soon.
- Samuraizero, on 04/16/2008, -10/+2Buried, since it doesn't say if it can fit or not in a manila folder.
