NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Launched - Bang For Your $ Graphics!

hothardware.com — NVIDIA launched the first release of their next generation GeForce 9 GPU architecture today and this time the company decided to come out with a mainstream, more reasonably priced offering first. As you'll see in the benchmarks here, the board also offers a fair bang for the buck, given its sub $200 price point.

  • PCWizKid, on 02/21/2008, -1/+8Sweet card, I wonder if any of my older Video Card Tweaks for the older generation cards would still apply anymore. I mean if your going to have a new card like this, you would probably be installing it in a new set of hardware anyways, no need to tweak or turn off features at this point, I would love to see it benchmarked at its fullest potential.

  • DeGarmo2, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Wow. This is crazy. I remember when I bought my Radeon X1300 for about $120 and I thought it was a great deal. Just checked the benchmark and it's only a 32. This 9600GT has a 496! Crazy difference. I don't really play many games on the PC, but playing CoD4 would be MUUCCHH better with the 9600GT than this crappy X1300.

    It's got some pretty good specs but since it's a lower power 65nm designed, smaller die, it's still reasonable cost-wise. They're at e-tail now for around 190 - $200.
