- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+75I liked how fully 22 seconds of this 45 second video were wasted on the stupid text introduction.

Of course they were defective, they were Maxtors. - lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -9/+60Actually this is the best thing I've seen Maxtors used for.
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49Seems like the ending didn't quite work, but better than watching dominoes anyway.
- DavidDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35That's nothing. I had a Maxtor that died, came back to life, and then went around sucking the life out of my other hard drives. Eventually I had to put a stake in it.
- MioTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+37That made me cry a little.....
- thetictacaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Can't it be both?
- samnmax, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30This must be how they treat all Maxtor drives before they sell them. It would certainly explain a lot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27In my country, Maxtor is the king of RMA.
- troller, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28question: rich, or dumb?
- DannySpace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Watching this was like having a failed-attempted orgasm; it did nothing but frustrate me and provided not climactic ending.
- listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23ah yes. the dreaded zombie maxtor. or zomtor, as we call 'em round these parts.
- Sweetdelight, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23It's not that much, they're probably all dead like most maxtors. 10$? give or take
- thunderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Even dead hard drives need love.
I sing a 9GB SCSI to sleep every night.
And then I have to bitch-slap the server to get it working again in the morning, but that's beside the point. - radu79, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17I sure hope they were defective...
- aliendave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I have a Maxtor that died and came back to life. It was weird.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That's all?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15The grand finale should be dumping gasoline and lighting them on fire. That would be cool. Western Digital all the way!
- macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Ok so many people ask why some people would go and spend 18 000 $ on HD's. Simple, he didn't, he probly works at a company where they were updating their raid arrays or they have a lot of storage and those are the failed ones in the gang.
No one stupid enough would ever buy HD's for dominos. - Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14He probably ordered them online and found out they were all DOA
- stephenwq, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11As mentioned before, yes they are already broken. They are maxtors.
- Avisto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I liked the noise they made.
- stephenwq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Seagate, WD and Hitachi seem to be best, in that order.
- mindlessxd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I put WDs in all my computers... haven't had a problem yet.
- mrlost117, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10^^^ come back to us in a couple months and tell us how you feel about it
***hint - I wouldn't store anything important on it if I were you - mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I like seagate, then western digitial. Only built a few computers and seagate has been good everytime.
- Xiol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm actually surprised cos I've never had a Maxtor drive fail on me yet...
Either I'm getting good drives, or I've got some good luck! - master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5in my experiences over four years as a bench tech starting with the most reliable....
1. Western Digital
2. Seagate
3. Maxtor
4. IBM/Hitachi
havent been a bench tech for over a year now so I cant say if this still stands - thydzik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4don't think that will be covered under warranty
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the very first hard drive is actually an IBM/Hitachi and not a Maxtor. I have torn apart enough deathstars for magnets and the bottom of those drives is all to familar to me.
- espo111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4finally a good use for maxtor drives!
- dAMIAn78, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14I couldn't think of a better use for Maxtor Hard drives.
I'm sure they're all still fine. - lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yeah i have an 80 gig i'll give them to add to that show.
- vheissu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'll vouch for the 80's being the worst. I had 8x80's in an array a few years back and I had to rma one every two months.
- andyeb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dell should do the same with all the laptop batteries they have recalled and post the result on YouTube.
- godsfilth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i go western digital then seagate
iv had trouble with my moms seagate just stops working then starts again a few days later
where as iv never had a problem with western digital - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The Maxtor hard drives I bought all died within a few months of use. Never again!
No mechanical shock or tap of any kind, shape, or form. Just normal heat inside the computer, and other brand's hard drives handled that heat just fine for years. - niteskunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My dad's been using Seagates for years for video production without a single year, I gave them a try too and I've been very satisfied. I just recently picked up a 320GB SATA Barracuda for $94 on Newegg.
Some people have had good luck with Maxtor, many others haven't. Personally, I've lost track of the number of Maxtors I've seen flake, so I avoid them for personal use. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Bored.
- kdubbz6688, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess im lucky, I have a western digital 160 gb as my primary with the OS on it. Maxtor 120 gb as the storage, and a 180 gb maxtor USB2.0 storage drive. All the drives have been going without a hitch, the WD is 3 years old. The other 2 are 1 year old
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm sure they ...were all fine except for the last few
- KeiichiMorisato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've had TWO maxtor drives die on me on the same week -- they were part of a RAID0 stripe set. I did not lose any data--everything is in source-control anyways. But, I had to rebuild my computer and wasted two days of development time.
I then realized that I had mistakenly purchased RETAIL/HOME use products when I should've purchased WORKSTATION/SERVER class products. The later have longer warranties (ie last longer by design) and built to take a beating.
I now have WD Raptors in my workstation and ditto for all developer workstations in my company. - Sweetdelight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reminds me of:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BGk7FO10f6c&mode=related&search= - MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The funny thing was that the next video that popped up in the list at YouTube had the name "Maxtor quality issues" lol :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actual money in your country, you mean? That would be 923,758.95 Afghanis. How's it up there with the Taliban?
- hadak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*gasp* i need one or ten of those!
- dattaway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found Maxtor drives do NOT like any mechanical shock or a tap on the computer case from something other than a finger. Temperature changes also set them off. Its like they are an instable explosive ready to blow up all data. After my Maxtor experiences, I'm amazed that drives from other brands will take a belly flop onto the hard floor like nothing happened.
- mrlost117, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have 3
I think the 80's were the worst - j0c1f3r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Ive used Maxtors for years.....never had a problem once....I dunno why everyone ***** on em....maybe I just been lucky....a seagate died on my bud before......o well w/e......everything on DIGG end up being about whos side your on .........
