- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+55Sorry Logitech... for $200 you gotta include a number pad.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Sorry to hijack..
http://duggmirror.com/hardware/Logitech_diNovo_Edge_Keyboard_Review/ - dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17300 isn't that much money for something a lot of us use 8 hours a day every day
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Ya, it was a very bad move to not include it. I know even uneducated computer users love the number pad.
- JRMillion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This diNovo Edge Keyboard is sweet, I am using it right now.
Takes a little getting used to because it feels more like a really nice/large laptop keyboard rather than a traditional desktop keyboard.
I've actually had it for a couple months, Circuit City randomly started selling them a while back. I still haven't seen it in stock at any other store. It goes great with the MX Revolution Mouse. - Crest444, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9That is sold separately. Crazy huh?
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Stop spamming your blog before someone takes a huge hack dump on it.
- britkev1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8$164.99 + postage at Newegg:

It comes with 3x18 programmable keys, a quick macro recording key, various multimedia keys, they're all back-lit and there's an LCD panel that let you display various informations. Best of all, it's supported under linux... And it's nearly half the price of the diNovo...

- wphj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You're so blocked.
No one's going to read your blog if you spam it on unrelated stories. - HalFTW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Can't live without it.
Perhaps for an HTPC's keyboard you could get away with not having one, but I would still prefer it. - vandalet, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9 I cant see spending over 100 for a keyboard.
- UrsusMorologus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Let's see, shortcut keys reuse function keys w/ "F Lock" stupidity, no numeric keypad, ins/home/pgup use a wierd x2 layout, ...
Not interested - vandalet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Damn, i wish i could spend $300 for a keyboard and mouse. What the heck do you do?
- Kratos76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great product, great keyboard, terrible article.
- Jocose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was very skeptical at first, but I went ahead and got this keyboard, and I have to say it is by far the best keyboard that I have ever used. It does indeed feel better to type on because of the scissor design behind each key, and it is also one of the most beautiful designs I have ever seen. Everyone is complaining about the $170.00 price tag (newegg), but if you consider this is the one piece of your computer that you touch every single day and interact with heavily if you do any amount of typing. Its MORE than worth it. Anyways, I am extremely happy with it, and I do 3D work all day. So this is not just for media machines. The only problem I can really level against it is the touch controls. The ability to not adjust the volume can be a big problem for some people but if this isn't an issue you for then I would venture to say that this thing is perfect.
- bartonnen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The keyboard I'm waiting for is the new Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 - check it out here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=080
There's also a 7000 version at a more reasonable price point.
The logitech keyboard is just too large and fugly, where the MS one is just the right size & has all the functionality you could need on your couch (a numeric keypad would just make the thing too wide). - BeeBody, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just running it off of Bluetooth and had no problems setting up. Not all of the special buttons work, though...but the scrollpad and volume adjust work fine.
- grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ummm, ya. A 2 year old product? Newegg has user reviews on this from 2005. Exciting stuff.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I bought one (for use with a Mac, go figures) and I like it. I haven't been bothered by the lack of keypad but I'm sure others will.
It's nice and very comfortable, but would b a lot better if it was priced lower - uhsf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe these will be sold outside of the US one day.
- deckardrun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This keyboard is sweet. I too am using it in conjuntion with a Revolution mouse and together they look damn gorgeous. The keyboard itself is simply amazing; the glow of the orange activity lights and the reflective black coating are super classy. Even the metal wristpad is sugoi. The chargepad is stylish as well and doubles as a rcvr... although I've only used it twice to actually charge the board, and I've had it since launch!
- bjornkeizers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have one as well. Yeah, it's not cheap -- but it's a dream to type on (perfect pitch, perfect travel, perfect key size & placement). It also adds a bit of style to my desktop.
I specifically got it so I could change keyboard positions once in a while. The fact that it's wireless allows me to work ten feet away from my lappy... I can sit in front of the TV and type out stuff.
I also love the BT connectivity. We own a 2.4ghz mouse for the family PC and it drops out every time my dad uses his 27MC radio. The Dinovo has never lost connection. It doesn't use a lot of power as well; I've used it daily for well over two months without charging it -- and it still had 40% power left.
Love it, love it, love it. - grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Whooo hoooo! Breaking news on a 2 year old product!
- geekitechture, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Oh my! If you only could have sex with a keyboard..."
Man you need to get out more. Of all keyboards you could possibly want to have sex with that's one of the ugliest ones I've ever seen.
My last keyboard was a Logitech Media Center. I trash computers and keyboards at pretty high rates so it only lasted two months. I replaced it with a Dell. I never thought I'd have anything good to say about a Dell product but it has the "lightest," most responsive keys I've ever touched (but no we did not have sex), so now I type faster/more accurately than ever before. Logitech is for the birds. - apotheos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What drivers are you using? Logitech is not advertising Mac support.
- clippydiper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@moody I am from Russia, no I do not know what you mean.
- BeeBody, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've been using this with my Macbook Pro. Works very well...I mainly bought it as a keyboard that had a built in trackpad...unfortunately, the trackpad is a little hit-or-miss...but the size is great and if I could find a cover, I would carry it with me in my laptop bag.
- JRMillion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was originally using it with a belkin bluetooth adapter and then swtiched to using the logitech adapter it came with... because with the latter the keyboard works in bios and for my vista boot loader.
Even when I was just using it with the generic bluetooth adaptor, the touch volume control worked, which is really the only "special" button I use. Might be slightly different for Mac though; I have a mac also, just haven't tried the keyboard with it. - rmoura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have one, hardly use it, but I think it was a good buy, though I miss the number pad. It´s expensive, but impresses anyone... good for working on the couch on TV.
- m00dy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1any updates on that Russian artist keyboard custom LED stuff
*excuse the garbage i just said, but you know what i mean right - bittdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks like an amazing keyboard and it's about time that they brought the laptop-style keys to the desktop keyboards. In my opinion though, any keyboard that is around $200 and still has the useless "enhanced" function keys is not worth it. Since they are adopting laptop keyboards, why don't they also adopt the familiar and unobtrusive Fn key that is on most if not all laptops.
- bjornkeizers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm in the Netherlands; you can definitely get them outside the US.... in fact, IIRC, we had it quite a bit earlier. You can even get silly AZERTY versions and a USB version.
- voltball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No. The oldest comment on Logitech diNovo Edge on Newegg is from Jan 25th, 2007. There are other Logitech products that are older, though. Even some in the diNovo line. This keyboard is however new, and there is nothing like it on the market.
- FuLouZero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The missing numpad makes it look bad... but the scrolling element looks awesome for Indigo Prophecy!
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So uh, paint thinner and a q-tip if you're that anal retentive?
- JRMillion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It is bluetooth, so you can use the included bluetooth adapter (that works only with keyboard)... or use it as you would any other BT keyboard. So you should be able to use it on Mac just fine, but might not have access to the software settings in SetPoint, if they don't have a mac version.
- mikehill33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I will give Logitech some credit, I bought the first version of this and it was completely unusable!
Logitech had remapped all of the function keys and replaced them with a myriad of commands.
I actually posted a review of it's predecessor:
http://mikehill33.blogspot.com/2006/01/logitech-dinovo-cordless-keyboard.html - turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1a lot of things don't say they work with mac, but since 10.4 prettymuch everything does. the only thing i had to get a driver for was this german tablet i got off ebay, it responded before the driver but after i got it, pressure worked.
- VANOS, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Meh. I still like the G15 better.
- dkm201, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Who uses reply anymore
- JRMillion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I am a Web Designer/Developer.
I saw the Edge on Engadget or some other site, googled it, saw Circuit City had them, and was basically standing at the checkout line before I gave it much thought :) Luckily I don't regret it. The keyboard looks cool and has excellent battery life... even for constant use. I have literally only charged it like 3 times since I got it.
The laser mouse obviously requires more frequent charging, but is still relatively good and has a nice battery meter.
I bought/returned the first model laser mouse, MX1000 or something, that logitech made a couple years ago. That one was pretty much crap, but they got it right this time. - Anoobis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ideas 11 is being replaced by nx at my work as its no longer supported. Inventor is apparently good too.
wait. why would it be good for autocad? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2No numerical pad, no split/ergo design, no backlit keys... I wouldn't even want one of these as a gift.
- GeneralAntilles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Can't stand those ***** silicone nipples. Buckling spring FTW!
- clippydiper, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I reviewed this keyboard before, but now I get it.
This is a media keyboard, so it is positioned more like a wireless piano IO for your HTPC with tactile feedback buttons and configurable functions and a volume slider. The drawbacks are these tiny legs for the support, TouchDisk and an angle charger with no evident function. The article has got the right rhythm from the beginning and is easy to follow.
To summarize, this orange back keyboard is a step in a right direction, but $200 is a bit much for an average media fan to shell out.
- Platypus3333, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0This keyboard is so awesome, it's the standard of review appellate courts apply to issues of law!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1This would be ***** awesome for AutoCAD.
- PostOmega, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Who uses AutoCAD anymore, solidworks or Ideas 11 is 10 times better.
