- Meowmix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very good article, plenty of juicy bits.
Haha, funny since last night I spent two hours manually calibrating the anodes in my iMac G3's CRT. First time I had done it, it was fun. But the little plastic rings are pointy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarisation
"In electrodynamics, polarization (also spelled polarisation) is a property of waves, such as light and other electromagnetic radiation. Unlike more familiar wave phenomena such as waves on water or sound waves, electromagnetic waves are three-dimensional, and it is their vector nature that gives rise to the phenomenon of polarization." - The_Pope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes Klipart - it does. Google for several different projects that have done just that
- cius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4sweet article for anyone that doesn't understand the numbers and is looking for a new monitor. Once you get the concepts, you'll exactly why that 6ms 1200:1 20" widescreen lcd you've been looking at cost so much.
- rude1979us, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great article! I liked it because it wasn't too technical and wasn't too dumbed down (at least for me).
- gookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lumenlab, anyone?
- triska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The whole bit about calling backlights "cathodes" sounds like the kind of bastardization that only leads to misunderstanding down the road. I've heard all kinds of things called cathodes in the past. CRT tubes, diodes, transformers, multimeters and speaker drivers. Why do people do this?

A nice write-up from someone who's done this. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A decent article that summarises up the current technologies.
- WeeBull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not bad, but it's a bit confused in parts.
Polarising filters which are opposite in *wavelength*?
60Hz being worse on the eyes at higher resolutions because there's more to refresh?
What he knows about is reasonably written. The filler in between is full of guesswork. - ultraelite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah I did then constructed a box took apart overhead and boom 6' by8' screen
- lomis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1True.
I'm looking forward to displays like SED. - Klipart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Does anyone know if i take apart my LCD and put the transparent screen on an overhead projector would it act like a makeshift projector?
- CiQuat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Site's quirky... here's the cache link:

because a cathode is anything with a negative charge on that side. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3interesting for someone who doesn't know how it works already.. but i do..
the only part i found interesting is the "future" section. some good insight into the next display types. - CiQuat, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Oops, double post... :( Bury this, please.
