- eramos, on 04/25/2009, -0/+19What happens if you lose your financial statement? Tax documents? Gay porn magazine subscription renewal card?
Same thing. - willsani, on 04/24/2009, -0/+14They ought to use an IronKey...
- maliath, on 04/25/2009, -2/+12Nothing bad will EVER come of this.
- smindsrt, on 04/24/2009, -0/+10This sounds like it might be a decent idea but... in an emergency will your friends or family remember to give it to the doctors?
- ImYourRealDad, on 04/25/2009, -0/+9I wouldn't trust any business or government funded organization to put a microchip in my arm.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7This is why we teach kids to be responsible at a young age so they are able to manage simple tasks like not losing important things.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7I THINK YOU MEAN HIPAA.
- whitenerdy92, on 04/25/2009, -4/+11Alright, so what happens when you lose this drive? Someone else gets to see your medical history?
- jennyvan, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7I keep all my gay porn stuff in a safety deposit box...along with all my other important stuff.
- linagee, on 04/25/2009, -1/+8This diggvertisement brought to you by IronKey.
- Namco, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6It's encrypted and password protected. If you lose you can just pay $5 and get another one.
- judicar, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6I'm guessing in the unlikely event that you become unconscious and need to see a doctor they'll just get records the old fashion way.
- bovox, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6What good is having encryption when the patient is unconscious in an ER bed and can't decrypt it?
- sockpuppets, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5I keep mine in my ass. Just in case.
- pikelet, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4What the hell are you doing to your USB drives to have all that happen?! Christ.
- rusty_g, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4i can see this on the black market, just like the career chips in Futurama, you steal someone else history and you can become them!
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4This could save a ton of time during ER or new doctor visits.
- antonio97b, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4I'd rather be in charge of it than someone else in all honesty. If you lose it it's your own dumbass fault and you can't blame anyone.
- judicar, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4As opposed to the now super-secure method of typing it all out and stuffing into a folder?
- Jaspah, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3I have accidentally washed a USB drive before, several times too, and I have never ever had one not work afterwards. As long as its dry before you put it in the PC, it should work the same.
- IanG73, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3Inb4 failure
- wjappe, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Will they be able to find it when they need it?
- bubba9999, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3What bad could possibly come of this?
- ElliotShoe, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2and have it fried when you get xrayed.
- Namco, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2If you're not conscious, you have bigger problems.
- KibibyteBrain, on 04/25/2009, -1/+3Or just Truecrypt the drives.
- lilhelper, on 04/25/2009, -3/+5RFID chip just wanting to happen.
I think its a good idea.
Upload all the Xrays into the RFID chip inside your arm, very nice. - anthropodeus, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2whose fault is that? yours. you dont have to take the drive if you're afraid of losing it.
- jasonbalmforth, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2I can't feel my legs, Keyser.
- fluidfoundation, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2great. with the rate I lose those things..
- ewilley, on 04/25/2009, -1/+2LAWSUITS!!!!
- colonelxc, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1I don't want people with rfid readers reading my medical history
- ImYourRealDad, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1This is actually a really good idea. With the information encrypted, password-protected, and unable to be modified outside of their WebApp this could help save a lot of time for people who won't have enough already.
- Lucas123, on 04/24/2009, -2/+3I completely agree with you. I own one and it's the only USB drive I use to secure my most sensitive data, but I'm sure Kaiser doesn't consider it cost effective. The IronKey USB drives are very expensive because they use high-grade, single-level cell NAND flash memory -- which makes them faster, more reliable and overall of a higher quality than most other, if not all, USB flash drives.
- dartmanx, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Hi, we just patented your genetic code. Please pay us a royalty fee of $5,000 per day.
- djdingo, on 04/25/2009, -1/+2"Here's your entire medical history records on a USB drive. Now don't lose it!"
What's the worst that could happen? - sigmaman2, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1ALSO, THE CAPS-LOCK KEY IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR KEYBOARD, RIGHT NEST TO THE LETTER "A"
- emt1451, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1They won't need it
- WarriorBlake, on 04/25/2009, -2/+2Yeah. The next ting you know, we'll be implanting a microchip in our forearms or foreheads to buy and sell anything. That couldn't happen...
right? - dartmanx, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1Look, what happens in the Ozark mountains STAYS in the Ozark mountains.
- lawlzbot, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone."
oh, wrong keyser - ewilley, on 04/26/2009, -0/+0YEAH AND THE X KEY IS RIGHT BELOW THE "S" AND THE "D" KEY
- jpete71chevmal, on 04/25/2009, -1/+1Kaiser Permanente is responsible for the "for profit" HMO model most of us hate so much. If they are for anything, we should automatically be against it.
- freeicecream, on 04/25/2009, -0/+0Oh right, you're that guy that works for Kaiser Permanente!
- lilhelper, on 04/25/2009, -3/+1You will have to eventually... sorry..
- jeremanrox, on 04/25/2009, -2/+0So what happens when you snap off the usb connector while the drive bangs around in your pocket after you lose the cap?
or better yet, what happens when it gets washed over and over again cause you cant remember to take it out of your pants when you wash them?
i think they should go with a card that has a microsd card build in. the card could show your picture and your name and the sd card could be inserted into it and taken out( in the event you change your name or address or whatever)
usb drives are about the most abused tech device in the world today, they get lost, stolen, washed, broken or infected with viruses more than any other device that fits in your pocket
i know this cause ive done almost all of these things and i am fairly "all together" in terms of my tech.....
cant imagine what would happen to some ozark mountain man and his drive..... -
