- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -2/+12And yet your "workstation" level Mac "Pro" comes with a $100 video card. What a joke. gb2/macrumors/
- RogerMcDodger, on 03/31/2009, -2/+11***** Intel for offering choice!
- hasslinthehoff, on 03/31/2009, -0/+8I'm still holding out for Cthulu-HP server CPUs with 666 madness cores.
- MiDri, on 03/31/2009, -0/+8a $100 card he payed about 3x that for =(
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -4/+9sorry AMD ...I'm going Intel...hope you understand
- KMartSheriff, on 03/31/2009, -0/+5Will this joke ever be funny?
- SteveMax, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4They are the server/workstation version of the desktop i7s.
- plaguepony, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3Hopefully it works better than the last big change, the P4.
- Squeeself, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2Tentacles are a far superior input device than a mouse.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -2/+4Every server CPU from intel "Is the most important" product... in fact im anticipating another "important" launch in the next 4 yrs
- Elranzer, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2They kinda remind me of the i7 processors. Oh well, at least there's now a $199 option in this series. Though it is only 1.6GHz...
- bobdigi, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2Man isn't your Mac Pro cool?
- inactive, on 08/24/2009, -0/+1Just when I thought dvd duplicators - http://www.runtechmedia.com/ - looked cool... then the RIAA hits again.
- halo3d, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Buy a pair of glasses.
- MarkusX, on 03/30/2009, -3/+4"Nehalem is the processor that made a single-core CPU look “cool” again."
:-) - inactive, on 03/31/2009, -4/+5FTA: "The executive also pushed Nehalem’s “Turbo Mode” as an especial “cool” feature: The chip has core circuit breakers, which enables the chip to shut entire cores off and shift saved power into more clock speed into the operating cores. If there are only two threads running on a quad-core chip, two cores can be shut off and additional clock speed can accelerate the other two cores. The maximum clock speed can be reached, in theory, when there is only one active core. We take note: Single-core processors are cool again."
Hmmm. If multiple cores are supposed to be so good, why the option to turn them off? Oh, I forgot, they are still in the "blame the software" i.e. denial phase. We have not heard enough excuses yet. - inactive, on 08/24/2009, -0/+1AMD burned my laptop... hahaha
- Merp08, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1that's how I felt when I got my q6600 :-/
They be back though. - TallestSkil, on 04/02/2009, -0/+1Running dual 4870s, actually.
- Gary13579, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Erm... the i7 is a Nehalem architecture CPU, so yes, it should remind you of them quite a bit...
- ProjectGSX, on 03/31/2009, -2/+2Great procs, terribly complex configurations. Memory bank speeds are anywhere from 1333 to 800mhz depending on how many dimms are installed. Are you kidding me? UDIMMS vs. RDIMMS? Give me a break!
- AVADirectJoe, on 04/02/2009, -0/+0I think the most exciting feature about the new core i7 Xeon's is the fact that they can be installed in desktop boards too. They disipate the same amount of heat, use the same amount of power, but can use larger quantities of RAM at higher speeds. I would say that Intel is really giving AMD a "run" for their money, and I personally cannot wait to see what Intel will do next. :-)
- vuke69, on 04/01/2009, -1/+1You clearly have no clue what you are talking about.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+1Ever since the introduction of i7 Intel has only been increasing its lead before AMD...that is because we were hoping AMD will be able to compete with new cpus and chipsets, but we were wrong.
Check out this review database, it is really useful to find reviews of different pc hardware: http://www.lowfps.com/review-database - inactive, on 03/31/2009, -4/+3Oh you are cool arent you - gosh I am so impressed by cool mac ownres going on about how cool they are cos thay have a cool computer like a mac - almost makes me want one...
- TallestSkil, on 03/31/2009, -11/+6Cool. My Mac Pro has had these for nearly a month now.
- dreamache, on 03/31/2009, -12/+6Wait, Napalm processors? Isn't this a little dangerous?!
- chickhearn7, on 03/31/2009, -6/+0Nehalem processors make me excited.
- supersonicjim, on 03/31/2009, -14/+3Will it run Crysis?
